  • Heres the method I use. I make bespoke cutting jig / mitre. I check first what size is the coving/cornice and meassure how many millimeters are on ceiling and how many mm on wall and than i make that bespoke cutting jig.
    once this is set youre gona get nice joints - inner joints and outside joints.
    In this video i used silicon on light weight covings and also plasterboards adhesive on other job where heavier gypsum coving was fitted.
    #coving #install #cornice
    Also what i do is to do PVA first in the corner on ceiling and walls just to make sure its gona grip properly.

    Well done! Customers sometimes think jobs are always straightforward and dead easy. The jobs that often look easy are the most difficult ones. Brain power

    Great tutorial, thanks for sharing! EPS plaster-coated coving is absolutely the way to go for DIY jobs. It's budget-friendly, moisture-resistant, easy to install and paint. I've used Homemerce for coving and trim in my whole house - top quality, huge range of styles, and the best value around.

    Love this! Installing coving is actually pretty straightforward with the right materials - EPS plaster-coated coving is perfect. Homemerce is a fantastic supplier for coving and trim. Everything they sell is specially designed for DIY, low-maintenance, and a custom finished look. You really can't go wrong with their quality and prices.

    I watched many videos on how to install coving and not a single video mentioned the gap length in the miter box (jig) needed to match the length on the wall. I wasted my whole day and 2 metres of coving until i saw your video at 11pm lol. Oh well a diy job is always a learning process

    Love the curtain track behind the coving. Do you have any advice on how to do this? Do you just fix up some wood as a fake wall and then stick it onto that?

    • @FinePineNorwichCarpenter

      Cheers bro. Yeah exacly very easy like you said. I got cheap L-shape brackets about 10cm x 5cm then i drilled thrue plsterboard ceiling and found timber joists. Then i screwed long side of the bracket to the wooden board and short to the ceiling thru plasterboad so it was all solid. But i measures up that the bottom of the board "fake wall" is flash with bottom of coving. I glued and screwed coving then to that board and ceiling. I also pinted back of the board in room emulsion colour cos you can see it when curtains are open.
      Good luck man!

    What do you do if your angles are out? Example 48 degree and not 45?

    • @FinePineNorwichCarpenter
      @FinePineNorwichCarpenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point i mark with pencel where the gap is lets say 5mm on outside corner and take it don than slide coving to outside the saw guild and do it -cut it by eye and hand to the pencil mark. Simply shave that tiny tringle bit thats too much.

    what adhesive did you use for this job

    • @FinePineNorwichCarpenter
      @FinePineNorwichCarpenter  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 2 glues in this video:
      1st for lightwaight cove in the gun and also i use standard plasterboard adhesive that you mix with water for plaster coving.
