- Hey y’all & welcome to episode one of our P&O Arvia Cruise around the Mediterranean. In this episode we embark on P&O's newest cruise ship Arvia from Southampton U.K before heading into some sea days and to our 1st post of call La Coruna Spain.
We start off by showing you the checking in process with CPS parking at the Ocean Terminal in Southampton. As we arrived early we will take you with us to Maritimo Lounge for some breakfast before we head back to the terminal to walk you through the embarkation process.
Once onboard we explore the ship and take you with us as we head into some sea days. We will be checking out the entertainment, restaurants, and more that Arvia has to offer.
On this Cruise Vlog series we will be taking you with us as we explore the towns and cities independently without booking any excursions. We will be sharing the locations we visit with you so you know exactly where we are heading.
We visit our first port of call, La Coruna in Spain. Here we start exploring by ourselves and head over to the Castelo de Santo Anton. We take a beautiful walk along the coast towards the Torre de Hercules before exploring the winding streets of the old town. A beautiful port of call.
This is episode one of three, and we hope you will find it enjoyable. Episodes two and three will include our upcoming ports of ;
Palma de Mallorca - Spain, Le Spezia - Italy, Marseille - France, Barcelona - Spain, Cadiz - Spain.

It was nice to see La Coruna in the sunshine as it always rains when we’re there. Disappointed to hear about the Olive Grove!
Ahh it was beautiful! Just means you have to keep going back until you hit some sunshine! Ha! Yes we were disappointed with the Olive Grove overall which is a shame! But that might just be our tastes lol 😂 Dom & Pete

Thank you for your comment and kind words! We did cram a lot into the day in Barcelona! And as it was our first time, we wanted to tick off a lot of tourist traps! If you want to take it easy, the walk from the shuttle bus to a nearby marina, was quite nice, with restaurants and bars there to relax in. Either way you will have a great time! Cool video can you select twin beds rather than double and how was the internet aituation with a uk sim card?
Hello… sorry for the delay in replying… yes you can split the beds into two singles. This can be done via your planner before the cruise or ask your cabin steward and they will sort it for you.
For this cruise we had a roaming pass / bolt-on with our current phone contracts… it was approx £15 and lasted for 30 days which covered us whilst we were in port. Just check with your provider.
Whilst you are cruising at sea remember to turn your phone onto airplane mode as you do not want to connect to the maritime network as this is an astronomical cost!
There are WiFi packages available to book, these are usually cheaper to book beforehand. They have different packages depending on your needs. You can buy one per day or for the whole duration of the cruise.
You don’t need a WiFi package to use the P&O web app to book dining etc etc

How busy was the ship? We have heard that it extremely crowded. We are due to go on a 2 week med cruise end of April on Arvia
Hello, thank you for the question. On our cruise it didn’t feel crowded at all.
People were generally spread throughout the whole ship. There are busy areas, which you would expect anywhere, for example the pools at peak times.
But there was always a sun bed somewhere!
Shows in the theatre are busy so make sure you book them beforehand.

@@DomPetesTravels we are going on the exact same itinerary as you did on this cruise. We are really looking forward to each port, but we have heard a few stories of the sun bed sinners as we like to call them, and the ship being overcrowded, but thanks for responding that has helped a bit, maybe we are just overthinking what we have heard. Great video!
May I ask if you had a drinks package and how you found this, or paid as you went?
Hello thanks for the question… on this occasion we opted to purchase the soft drinks package… which gets you , Pepsi, lemonade and juices. This was really good for us and certainly saved us money especially on those hot days. We’re not big drinkers so we purchased the odd drink as we went along. They are priced reasonably!
We have previously had a drinks package (before the recent changes) and we decided that we wouldn’t really spend the same amount if that makes sense.
However if you do like a few drinks on holiday… really consider whether you would save money in the long run by purchasing a package…

@DomPetesTravels Hi, we have booked for 2026, we are not drinkers either, so we have not purchased alcohol package. Do we get tea and coffee as well as soft drinks? Travel agents never gave us much info.
Hello depends on the package you have purchased…the refresh package only has soft drinks, which are Pepsi, Pepsi Max and Lemonade. You also get juices with that, so orange, cranberry etc.
The alcohol free package includes teas and small coffees which is the next package up. It also includes lots more options.
