Her voice is much healthier this year, it's clear she's working on her voice. Obviously it won't sound when she was younger but she's still the songbird supreme of the vocal trinity.
Mariah Carey has a BEAUTIFUL voice! She’s been in the music industry for about 30 years, I think she’s taken great care of her voice. It sounds almost as good as it did in the late 1990s.
The Official Andy Saenz she sounds better than some years ago but that don't means she don't lipps. People might think she's lip syncing cause they have ears which can tell difference between live vocals and lipped parts which I have. There were parts she lipped, those were 5:41-5:45, 7:08-7:12, 7:16-7:19, 7:34-7:38, 7:42-7:44, 7:51-7:57, 8:11-8:20, 8:20-8:30. Rest is live. Don't believe it? Listen CLOSELY to studio version and you'll see those parts were lipped. She definitely lipped sone of the high notes there cuz if u listen carefully, she used the same pre recorded track from 2017. She's been using that part for the last 3 years. But she never lipped the part "when christ was boooorn" which as a lamb, is truly breathtaking and satifying.

@@cammitchell9459 Her voice actually got better during the time she was pregnant, sure the climax of this song is part/most lipped as it wouldn't be easy even for her younger self to sing, but still she managed to have amazing live vocals during that time and her voice sounded a lot healthier than what it did a couple years before and to this day. I don't know if it was just the pregnancy itself that did something to her body or she had to have better habits as she was pregnant, like no alcohol, eating helthier food and more rest.
I was at both the rehearsal and the taping of the Christmas special when she was pregnant and that was definitely live.

I seen Mariah live 5 times and that is 100 live. I can tell when she lips and when it’s live just by the sound of the voice bc I listen to her recordings alllll the time. If you listen to her live performances of this song from her younger days you can tell the difference !
Mariah's singing LIVE!!! Please stop thowing doubts over her vocals. I've seen Mariah live 3 times in concert, and when she's well rested, as she is here, and she hits her notes, her sound is almost unbelievable but it IS true: that's why she's one of the best singers in the world still to this day, even when not at her absolute vocal peak.
Mariah has supernatural talent so exceptional, people cannot believe their eyes and ears (but that's just people).
The whole clip is clearly LIVE, and it's full of micro-hesitations, and minor modulations that you'd not hear on a lipped recording. She even pauses to be sure she can hit the big notes near the end... she knows that she must be more careful now.
The vocal is clearly LIVE. Mariah is a vocal and songwriting genius: that's why she's still getting to number one on her back catalogue (Glitter, album, and All I want for Christmas, single in 2019)
Her contribution to popular music is legendary, and her star has not faded (if anything steaming is introducing her to new audiences: and she broke the record for most song streams on Christmas eve).
Mariah's an incredible god-gifted talent who'll always be counted amongst the world's best, and who's musical legacy will live on long after after her.
But the bridge part most parts were lipped (1994 studio version) but her oh night was def live and is very amazing and she sounds well rested here. What I like the most is how well she blends in with the pre-recorded vocals(a thing she failed in the past)
@@primewilmusean829 the whole thing was live. Mariah has nodules, so some parts of her voice are rough, some parts clear. I've seen her perform in concert 3 TIMES. When you actually hear her live you realise what she's capable of, and it's supernatural. When she's rested she's an unbelievable singer, quite literally.

That video is the first night of the show, and for me that was the best show in this year! Lipped part on high belt note like "oh night divine", but "oh night when christ was born" was live. The whistle was lip and live combination.

This is 100% live. She has new management and taking better care of her voice. Her voice is in great condition. She is singing in front of her fans so she is not so nervous as when she is performing live on a television show. She's always very afraid to fail and very nervous.

The end of this song is always a mix of live and lipped but the majority of the song is live and always so well done and resonant
I’ve to say this was almost completely live. Except for that small part after the whistle which was obviously lipped. The rest were completely live! Bloody amazing to be able to sing like this 30 years into her career!

I believe it is live. I went to her concert last year where she did this song. It was amazing and it sounded a bit different, so it had/has to be live. She clearly is back on her throne!

this is something that always baffles me. when a Beyonces video is played nobody goes through it frame by frame, but when Mariah sings people can tell you "exactly" which parts were 'lipped". and more astonishing is she sings the whole song live and then suddenly out of nowhere lipsynchs a 3 second part according to people. it is like saying a athlete runs on full speed, then walks, and then go on full speed again. RIDICULOUS!

she obviously changed some of the notes that come immediately after those crazy riffs so people would think it's all live (she has done that to a lot of her songs over the years), but it's not. the vocal quality is still very much different.

Christmas is always her time to shine. I think the placement of her Christmas songs are easier, but they require more powerful belts. If she does another Christmas tour in Europe next year, y’all should go and review the show! She’s breathtaking in person, trust I was at MSG on the 15th. I wish you had reacted to that version of “O Holy Night” though, because it is by far the best of this Christmas concert run!

The high notes were pre-recorded. She has been doing it for years. You can obviously tell the belts were taken from her studio version of that song.
They are actually not the exact same as the studio version. If they’re prerecorded they did a crazy good job at transitioning and her lip syncing was too good

My bet is that parts of the end are pre-recorded and she sings along when she can or lips when the voice isn't there. I just saw this live in Boston and have seen it multiple times in NYC. I believe the ease at which she hits some of those notes tells the story, and how well it's hidden depends on the state of her voice on the night. It's clear that Mariah still has the ability to hit her high notes but isn't confident in their consistency and therefore does what she needs to in order to put on a good performance show after show. I love and respect her deeply and I wish more people appreciated her talent unconditionally.
