hai ramya , we cant give normal saline , there is a chance for absorption of sodium in colon walls and it cause electrolyte imbalance, blood pressure shoot up, and even reducing the absorption of water etc. So don't use normal saline for colostomy irrigation . Fill the irrigation bag with tap water. Water temperature should be warm to one’s hand-certainly avoid scalding or hot. Recommended temperature is around 100F. You can vary this a few degrees up or down without harm.
