    We Made a Louis Vuitton Wallet for $35!
    One of the beautiful parts of leather craft is the ability to make yourself beautiful pieces to carry day in and day out. We've always had a love for the iconic Louis Vuitton bifold design, with it's diagonal pockets and Epi leather. However it's very expensive! So we sourced some of the same leather and made our own pattern, alluding to the design language of the Louis Vuitton wallet while all together being our own new design.
    One of the big changes we made was to add three separate card slots to one side of the wallet. We also adjusted the measurements a bit and used a hand stitch instead of machine stitch, to make this wallet easily repairable should anything happen in the future.
    As always, it's important to note this is NOT a Louis Vuitton wallet :)

      They use real leather, it's not plastic. Louis Vuitton uses a canvas material that is layered over the leather. The canvas is there to protect and to keep the leather in shape for a longer period of use.

      @@krazzysu Reason why Louis Vuitton products last through floods, tsunami's and water damage is because of their use in canvas. They layer canvas over high-quality leather. It does not deteriorate at all and if it does you might have an unauthentic Louis Vuitton product.

It is impossible to learn it all in one lifetime, let alone master all it. Of course there are going to be people better out there, but it's not about being the best. It's about being wherever you are in your creative journey and making steps as often as you can to improve your skill set and knowledge base so that the next thing you make is (hopefully) better than the last thing you made. It is silly to think that anything you (or anyone else) says could humiliate someone who has worked hard to learn a bad-ass skill, and then share that skill with the world in a way very few people can and do.

The exquisite material that comes with it is slightly different, for one the LV is thinner and lighter. The grain is so much smaller and tighter and fine. The finish going from satin to matte within the crevices, the very tight and small stitching that blends out and looks so very tightly controlled, The way the interior pockets come to a perfect proportioned finished ending; and the perfectly controlled radius edges. All of these final details that come together to make it an LV wallet. Not many people are going to defend the over priced products but I do appreciate the reason they're expensive.

    I bought your pattern, & believe pockets D & E are flipped. I’m using real nice leather, & learned the hard way. I cut the last leather I had, & then realized Corter’s possible error. Hmmm! Wonder if these pockets will still work inverted. Corter, can you pls let us know.

    At 3:10 you forgot to add "Hug, hug, kiss, kiss" in the voice of Mrs Thurston Howell III (from Gilligan's Island).
    That would have sent the LV snobs into a complete swivet!

    Nice video! :). I'm curious though: why do you punch stitching holes before glueing the pieces together?

    • @BestArtist
      @BestArtist 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because he is a counterfeiter. They do this to make it look like the real thing even though it's a garbage knock off.

      @isaacemmanueljohnfisidore7364 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran into issues with my stitching chisels getting stuck once the glued leather pieces start getting thick. Maybe that's why they punch holes before glueing?

    Hi Corter Leather! I'm really enjoying these videos, and thank you for devoting your time, energy, and passion into their creation! After watching so many, a part of me really wants to try out this craft. Out of curiosity, do you have a sense of how long it took you to reach this level of craftsmanship? Is "following along" with the patterns/videos that you put out sufficient to replicate your quality? Hope you're well!

  • @timlelapin
    @timlelapin 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having worked for LV a few years back, I can tell you they consider counterfeit anything that carries one of their pattern shown in the letter, regardless of the design. Even the employees cannot take small scraps of leather for their own usage. That's part of their brand protection strategy.

    • @Corter
      @Corter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Correct! The problem is that the law does not consider a repurposed LV bag a counterfeit if it is sold as repurposed, so they try to throw their weight around where they have no legal right to do so

  • @vovlov
    @vovlov 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    well... the cost of doing that is not 33.36, you should take into account the time you took to design and produce it. your time is your biggest asset. so if it took you, designing and producing this wallet, 8 hours, you should be looking at a labor cost near 320 usd, that brings the cost to 353,36 usd, quite a different value... of course big manufacturers mas produce this stuff so their cos is a fraction of that, but the underlying value is the same, around 350 bucks,.
