    I am pleased this video has had so many views. It was suspected at the time that Duane would not appear again in the UK and that seems to be true. I always enjoy watching this because not enough credit is given to Duane as one of the world's BEST guitarists and there is not enough of him in the main stream media.

    I’ve attended live concerts of Elvis, the Beatles, the Stones, and other great musicians. This was by far the very best concert I’ve ever attended. Too bad there’s no DVD. Most of Duane’s comments were not included. He has a great sense of humour and priceless insights.

    I think that black Gretsch is a baritone. Longer neck and very heavy strings with a beautiful deep growl. I had a Danelectro Baritone but kept bending strings and wrecking my old tendons so I sold her. They are tuned B to B instead od E to E.

    I play keyboards, but have become a bit of a guitar geek lately. If I had picked up the guitar, Duane Eddy's the guy I'd want to sound like. This London show must have been amazing in person, because it's just as marvelous on TH-cam. Duane's 84 (!) now,
    yet all the hits and other songs sound just as great as they did in the '50s. Not many rockers play the Gretsch these days- it looks rather bulky- but he mastered it from the very beginning, and perfected it in that tiny studio out in Arizona. Thanks for posting this incredible concert by Mr. Twang, Duane Eddy...my all-time, lifelong guitar hero- and a great gentleman, too! BTW- Ever hear Duane's rare ballad "Along Came Linda"? Dug it up last night. Absolutely beautiful- almost classical!

    No doubt the man was Iconic and a master of the high art of letting the backbeat breathe. A concept that sadly escapes most Guitar players. A Guitarist with a totally unique signature sound and style. No flash, fireworks, fretboard gymnastics, self aggrandizing overly drawn out solos, or pyrotechnics who found a winning formula of creating timeless danceable grooves, with a "Less-is-More" equation of tasty licks, fantastic tone, simple arrangements and subtle techniques. That said, for all the out of touch young Guitarists who talk about how limited Duane was. th-cam.com/video/GvG41pUhQEc/w-d-xo.html And I'm sorry but how sexy is Imelda May @40:00?

      @@r4ndym4n If you are a Musician you'd know exactly what I am saying. But yeah, in layman's terms HE WAS A BAD-ASS! The "Lists" don't matter because it's all subjective but most of the people that do make the lists probably cut their eye teeth as kids trying to play "Rebel Rouser" or "Ramrod" if the truth was known. I despise trying to compare artists but without a doubt this guy was the catalyst that caused many a young man or lady to pick up a Guitar. Me included.

      @frank0stein 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gretsch started with block inlays, then in about 1957 went to hump block inlays...basically a block with a hump. A year later in 1958 they switched to thumb nail inlays. You can see these on Brian Setzer guitars. So late '56 and '57 is the only time you'll find hump blocks...unless you count newer models. Duane Eddy's original was a 1957, and all his tribute models are based on it.
