Duane: You was my dads all time fav, he always wanted to meet you and never got a chance. He died of cancer june 5th 2011. His last day alive we listened to your albums all day long, even though you was really before my time I will always listen to you and remember that one day I spent with my dad and you. God bless you....Brian

Cool thing about Duane's playing is the space he leaves. Really allows you to enjoy the notes he chooses!!

Saw Duane Eddy and the Rebels live in South Africa in 1959 or 1960. Loved the show! It also featured the great John D Loudermilk who had a huge hit in SA with Blue Train. Have always been a fan of those artistes, even now at the age of 71. :-)
Thanks for your contribution to music Duane!

I saw Duane play last night at The Sage, Gateshead - what a fantastic gig - this band was with him (Richard Hawley's band) apart from sax player - my friend Paul Corry plays sax on the tour. It was a special night for me - I went backstage & met Duane - he signed the setlist for me, & recorded a program ID for my blues show. When I told him he was the reason I started playing guitar (true) he said "Oh, don't blame me for that!" A true legend, one of my childhood heroes and a very very nice guy.

Definitely, Duane is still twanging as good as ever.
The third tune sounds a bit like some of Al Casey's stuff on Return of the Green Gretsch. Great Tune. Regarding the second tune, I wish now I would have kept my Jerry Jones 6 string Longhorn. I think I bought the last one that was available in 2011.
Keep up the great twanging Duane.

He plays guitar the way Hemingway writes. These tunes sound ageless, and somehow inevitable, but much of the action takes place in the spaces between notes. Such pregnant silences sold a reported 100 million records for Eddy, but their echoes have ebbed down the generations... The Twang has been on an epic journey, bounced along blue highways by Hank Marvin and George Harrison and Bruce Springsteen, into the epic landscapes of Ennio Morricone and Angelo Badalamenti.

    • @greatvanzini

That's not a baritone, that's his Gretch 6120. You are confused. He only used the "baritone" (actually a bass) on a couple of albums.
