Ummm. You’re listening to mostly the backing track. So, like every performance here “today” (2024). That’s not a “problem”, but just know that all music has been “electronic music” since somewhere between 1987 and… well … now.
I thought that as soon as I saw the thumbnail! 🤣 Pulled it off, sounds great! 👍🤘👍 That little girl in the music video used to freak me out when I was a kid. lol
It always amazes me how nonchalant Trevor Horn is about his incredible skill with a bass. He was playing and singing Video Killed The Radio Star in an other video and just nailing it. Harder than it looks. Man's got talent.
@@davidyoung5114 So it's gone full circle then? They first started jamming to some samples from outtakes from the 90125 Yes album, many which were drums and drums loops! It was more or less the reason why Art Of Noise was formed. And now the drummer plays it live with them! Cool!
I love this track. I didn't realize Trevor was so talented on the bass. I love how this track starts. Trevor is laying down the baseline and then the drummer kicks in and says let's kick it up five notches and kicks up the tempo and that makes everybody smile. That's sort of my favorite parts of this song. Trevor's like yeah bring it. Overall 10 plus
This piece meant so much to me as an arty kid back in 1984, especially this fused with Tony Hart. Art of Noise, and this track especially was a major influence on me love of music and making my own.
Like others have posted, I'm here to see a classic still beautiful tune from 1984. I was 28 when this dropped and this strange band with the most beautiful sounds graced my ears. Been a fan ever since. Yes, this is amazing. Going into my Favs for sure.
My first vinyl was Plastic Age in 1981, was thirteen years old, and after I fall in love of Art Of Noise I eard Yes. Your sound follow me all my life during ❤
If Trevor ever reads these I hope he realises how much of an influence the art of Noise have been on music. Also anybody reading this should check out the Rhythm Scholar remix of Close (to the edit) for one of the finest reworks that I've ever heard.
The music videos that were done back in the day never did this track justice. It's something that has to be experienced live to be truly appreciated. Trevor, Anne, and AoN were all spectacular!
This brilliant UK band The Art of Noise who worked with ABC, Sir Tom Jones, Frankie go's to Hollywood, Max headroom etc Trevor Horn, Anne Dudley etc should be recognised and inducted in for there contribution to music and even the Rock n Roll hall of fame Even in 2024
Trevor Horn is friggin brilliant, one of the most prolific producers of the 20th century in my mind, you always knew precisely what to do - as one of my production influences, always was curious about what Tears for Fears would sound like if Horn had gotten ahold of them... Ann Dudley, as certainly a contributing factor, I had to remember just how many hits they had.
Awesome track for sure and great hearing it played live. I need to learn that bass line asap. Almost has me feeling though like someone is rushing but somehow it still all falls together.
Just for the record that the most important thing in Art of Noise was Anne Dudley, she did orchestrations for all the music names ZTT label, she has been making classical, film music for a long time, I'm glad to see her here on stage
Superb. I was 11 when this tune was in the UK charts and I loved it. Never seen the Art of noise but this is an amazing thing to hear live courtesy of our own Trevor Horn, who I have also never seen playing any instrument despite knowing several tracks that he produced. (next up: Video killed the radio star???)
Just perfect, here in 2024 watching a song from 1984 being performed in 2004. Amazing.
Couldn't say it better myself!
Somehow the 1984 music & vibe keeps connecting with us 😎
How mathematically symmetrical.....plus like #42
Time is like a rubber band.
Here I am, in 2024!
"I just need a bass!" That's possibly the biggest understatement Trevor Horn's ever made... 😂🙏❤️
Amen. I just wish I could find a clip of Trevor playing with Chris Squire. ❤
Do you think he’ll stick with it and maybe he’ll make it work 😂
@@martinadams5893 🤣... He hasn't got many other career options he can choose... 😂
@@melindamccormack4721 I can't look into the future, but I think the kid will go pretty far with it. He's got some skills.
Holy crap, this should not be possible, live performances in studio perfection. Professional artists perform perfectly.
This is truly what it is about...The ART of Noise !!!
Ummm. You’re listening to mostly the backing track. So, like every performance here “today” (2024). That’s not a “problem”, but just know that all music has been “electronic music” since somewhere between 1987 and… well … now.
Someone wake the crowd, the song has begun.
😂😂😂
I never thought this classic could be played live. Trevor Horn & co proved me wrong. Absolutely fantastic!
Totally agree! Amazing performance!
we're on the same page!!!!
I think when Trevor smiles and shakes his head at the end, he's thinking the same thing! 😂
It's just mad how good this is!
I thought that as soon as I saw the thumbnail! 🤣 Pulled it off, sounds great! 👍🤘👍

He's seriously good isn't he? Pitch perfect on Video Killed The Radio Star and here he's just casually killing it.
My fingers would be permanently knotted up if I attempted that bass line... Incredible!
ベース、最高❤、全て最高❤❤
Some people love this song, but some really hate it.
I think you need a little tiny sence of humour to appreciate it.
Its now 2024 and this is one of the best since 1984 for me.
Still listening and phenomenal in 2024, unreal live performance 👌🏼
Trevor, Anne and the Art of Noise. Simply superb.
Simply superb. Is spot on Bro!! What a talent Trevor is!!
The concentration when Trevor's playing then the look on his face at the end when it went off without a hitch!
The energy of the drummers, great show. Fantastic play
It didn't hurt to have the drummer from Yes playing along!!!
@@davidyoung5114 So it's gone full circle then? They first started jamming to some samples from outtakes from the 90125 Yes album, many which were drums and drums loops! It was more or less the reason why Art Of Noise was formed. And now the drummer plays it live with them! Cool!
Drummer hitting those skins like they owe him money! love it
I played this as a DJ for so many people. This performance is so impressive, it literally makes my heart skip beats. Love this.
Me too. 🙂with some Leftfield, Orange Juice and Blancmange
I love this track. I didn't realize Trevor was so talented on the bass. I love how this track starts. The best thing about live performances is you can see how hard it is to play, especially a song like this
Seriously one of the coolest songs of all time.
It is. Knocked me out of my chair back then....
And hearing it live now!
Ab true, blew me away when I was 15 and still does now
Moments in love was one of the first singles I ever bought
Do you remember the vid for this
Done in an abandoned warehouse and motion captured, was brill
The Art of Music!
Never envisioned seeing/hearing a live version of this tune... Too cool.
This piece meant so much to me as an arty kid back in 1984, especially this fused with Tony Hart. Art of Noise, and this track especially was a major influence on me love of music and making my own.
That bass is insanely good!
Great tune, well played by all but *that basswork* 👌
such a treat to have this great classic played live! one of my absolute favorite songs ever
Trevor is beast of a bassist!
Saw them in '84 with Max Headroom, Dick Dale. Feel fortunate to have seen them.
UN. FREAKING. BELIEVABLE!!!
This was 20 years after the song was released, and now I’m watching this 20 years later still. I’m not old, nurse.
That guy on the drums (behind Trevor) is about as enthusiastic as I’ve ever seen anyone playing the drums!
Terrific....I had completely forgotten, to my shame, just how good this track is. Well done to all.....a classic of the 80's.😊
"Live versions are worst than studio ones.
Trevor Horn: Hold my beer"
Best bass line ever. You are not allowed to debate.
Who’s debating? Not I…
😆😂🤣👌👍
Amazing musicians!!
They have their own genre, nothing else like it.
Art of Noise was so good to hear in the 80'
It's just so ridiculous how amazing this is
Nice semi-live performance. No probs with that. Excellent.

The whole show is amazing start to finish but pulling off Close to the Edit live is mind blowing.
If Trevor ever reads these I hope he realises how much of an influence the art of Noise have been on music.

Woo-hoo! That was awesome! Forever a fan of Anne.
Fans of Anne! I love it.
Super bass playing! A great band, top arranger on keys and the deliciousTessa Niles. What more could you want"
That drumming is insane..listening to the drums it sounds like it is in a constant uptempo..magnificent bass and awesome to see it live.🇦🇺👍
The music videos that were done back in the day never did this track justice. It's something that has to be experienced live to be truly appreciated. Trevor, Anne, and AoN were all spectacular!

Even in 2024
This was soooo exciting in 1984. What a time of life!!
Who knew Trevor Horn could get so funky?
just brilliant
THAT DRUMER IS "KILLING " IT!!! VERY GOOD 👍
Pretty sure it's Paul Robinson- fantastic drummer
One of the drummers is Alan White
Alan White of Yes...who is actually playing his own sampled loop from the original recording! META EPIC!
So good, so amazing! I loved this song in 1984 and love it today and I love seeing Anne and Trevor perform live in 2004!
I loved the album - bought it back in the 1980s. I liked the whole album but Close to the Edit was my favourite track.
The Genius that is Trevor Horn
Come to Tampa Bay Trevor!!! PLEASE!!!!
Not sure what's better Trevor's bass playing or his smile at the end - thank you for your music maestro
Brilliant he never makes a mistake
Insanely good performance of an amazing milestone of a track!
This is brilliant absolutely loved the art of noise especially peter Gunn 😄😄😄😄 Trevor your a legend thanks for the memories 👍👍👍👍👍jx
I was 18 when this came out and was immediately blown away by it. Who's Afraid...? is one of my all time favourite albums.
Tout bonnement excellent !!
Ce groupe incarne pour moi l’ancêtre de la House Musique ^^
Wow man, i keep coming back to this great performance. I just love it
That is a helluva good bass job

Incredible talent!
Absolutely LOVE the Bass.🎸
Awesome track for sure and great hearing it played live. I need to learn that bass line asap. Almost has me feeling though like someone is rushing but somehow it still all falls together.
I'm so glad I got to see them live with Duane Eddy back then. Trevor was an absolute sample powerhouse producer an aural visionary.
Alan White on drums RIP Alan you are missed!
Pure genius

Anne Dudley is brilliant and doesn't get the credit she deserves.
@@elco6400 Agree
Most important? Nah.
They all work in unison. There is no one more important than another!
As someone who loves Music and respects the artists I never ever make such comments.
Excellent! 👏
just fukn ridiculous how phenomenal this performance is
Amazing
Thanks Trevor Horn!
Damn!! That bass tho!! Always wanted to see someone accomplish that on the bass!!
The mastermind behing the Buggles, this man is a genius,
this composition is perfect.
this should be the last one that I ever hear.
Maestro!
I love ann daddly !
And this engine starting sound makes me excite!
Thank you everything. Art of Noise
I saw them live in the 80’s and still love them and this song to today.
That was amazing... took me back a year or two...but still amazing THANK YOU!👏👏👏
I love that bass it's thumping for sure
Would've been cool to have Chris Squire sing his previously sampled voice live, since he was there.
THANKS!!!!
4:07 WHooopss!! Someone triggered the drum fill sample to early!! Still.......EPIC. One of my all-time favorite groups... AON!!!
One of the most cool bass lines Ever!
L❤ve this & the original. Kickass

Who needs a Fairlight if you have a band of 25 tight musicians?
If I hadn't seen them play with my own eyes, I would have believed they were Aliens. Amazing group of musicians!
Thanks for posting 💜💜💜
So good to see you playing with them Trevor, so much fun.
That was awesome, one of my favourite tunes from the Rishton Methodist Youth Club 🎉
Thanks ❤🎉
Good 👍
