Mate I was in exact predicament. Seeing you in the same boat and going with the ZV makes me much more confident selecting it! Really, looking forward to the work you put in, you’ve earned a sub for me. Cheers!
It all depends on if you need the features of the FX3. The autofocus isn't why you would buy the ZV-E1 over the FX3. You want the FX3 if you need the buttons, internal fan, dual card slots, etc. For me, I mainly just need the 12,800 ISO for the Sirui Saturn 35mm 1.6x anamorphic lens because it's only T2.9 and I will be stuck with only one lens on the budget I have for the Infinite Simulations TV show, but I also need to earn some money and the FX3 is much more rentable than the ZV-E1. I need to record long form interviews, so I have to get the FX3.
Kör också på ZV-E1 och riktigt nöjd. Så liten och smidigt också :) Alla bought the ZV-E1 and really happy with it. Real powerhouse in such a small body. Great for on the move :) Looking forward to see what you will create with it
Last July, I faced a decision between the A6700 and the ZV-E1, ultimately opting for the A7IV. However, at the start of this year, I determined that the ZV-E1 would better suit my video needs. While the A7IV initially served me well, constantly swapping lenses became cumbersome. It's evident that each individual's preferences shape their personal setup. Regarding overheating, while present like in any camera, it hasn't posed a significant issue for me.
Literally just today I placed my order. I will be doing a video just like this one because I truly feel the way you do about this camera. I was between the Zv e1, a6700 and the fx30. I know aps-c vs full frame but keep in mind I’m new to cameras. What I wanted is a camera better than an iPhone, for this reason I didn’t want to settle for a less expensive one. I’m glad to hear from you that you made a similar choice.
Just check Sonys homepage or browse the stores that sells it. Should be in the description. Here in Norway it was a 330 dollar cashback if I bought it. You have to have owned the camera for 1 month before you can claim the cashback. + you get 100 dollars off for some of the next Sony product you purchase if you register your camera. That is specifically for the ZV cameras. I think it is called welcome to vlogging or something like that. @@Diego_Cabrera
I have been rocking with the ZV-E1 since July and it has been a pleasure . I did videos with it in 96 F degrees in Mexico and also in the West African heat and for regular filming needs ( 10 mins or less recording at a time ) it has never overheated . I have got it to over heat while in Virginia when trying to livestream on a tripod on the back porch in direct sun. But if you really need to livestream with it do it inside in a temperature controlled room and open all the doors/latches on the camera , I did a stream for over an hour and never got the overheating warning
So I have watched probably 20 or so videos on comparisons between these 3 cameras and this was actually the best. All your points are well grounded in logic. The biggest one for me was the fact that yes, the A7S III is 4 years old, rumours of a new one coming, so to buy it now at it's price point does not seem like a good idea (I was actually leaning towards the A7S III). I live in Australia, the over heating of the ZV-E1 does worry me a bit but if you're out in the open, with a bit of air flow it doesn't seem to be an issue. This guy, Mark something, tested it in Africa, in 40+ degrees, outside, 4k 60 and the battery ran out before it overheated. Moreover, there's fans you can buy for it or even just leave some of the side compartment doors open and that dramatically reduces the overheating. For me, I mainly want to use it for night walking videos in the city and nature and what not so I think it will be perfect for that. Ideally I would of liked an FX3 but here in AUS they run 5.5 to 6k in cost; like I can get the ZV-E1, with a crazy good lens and accessorises and still save around 3k. Plus, ZV-E1 has all these crazy good software upgrades that even the FX3 does not. So I think I've finally settled on the ZV-E1; thanks for the video, it helped 👍
@@TheKevFernan Great camera. If I could go back in time I might have gone for the a7 iii as well as my starter. I think it is the camera that brings most value in terms of what you are getting for your money.
@@NiclasNilsson89 No, I got the FX3. It's an amazing camera, obviously expensive, but I found the money for it so I got it. I guess in the end, I just didn't want to compromise 🤷♂ But with the lens, memory cards and other accessories, it was the price of a crappy used car - so ZV-E1 is a very reasonable 2nd option.
excelent video, I watched many videos comparing ZV-E1 and FX3 but yours made my decision! I'm from Brazil but living in USA currently but I plan to shoot a lot in Brazil, that way im going to FX3 because of the heating. And here in US I can find $2000 dollars FX3 on marketplace, and literally none ZV-E1, thanks a lot
Ive owned both the SIII and ZV-E1. I will be staying on the ZV-E1, its pretty much the same camera in terms of picture-quality. I dont really miss that much from the SIII. Maybe the viewfinder for occasional photography and some custom buttons.
I just placed my order. I was debating between the FX 30 and the ZV E1, but ultimately decided on the latter. I opted for a Tilta cage and fan as well. The FX 30 had a few features that caught my interest, such as two card slots, full HDMI, and an APS-C sensor for using a variety of lenses, particularly inexpensive anamorphic lenses. However, the software capabilities of the ZV E1 with its new AI chip were the deciding factor for me.
@@NiclasNilsson89 yes. The fan is good. It’s USB-C powered though so you have to use a battery pack. I’m still testing out the camera but so far I’m loving it.
Thank you, that makes so much sense! I really want the FX3, but just ordered the FX30 for the lower cost and fan. But I’m like you, I like to create quality content A and B roll, not a vlogger or event photographer. I think I’ll return it before opening and get the ZVE-1. Then I can put the money into full-sensor lenses and upgrade to the FX3 (or newest version), later. Thanks for your thoughts. 😃❤
I think I'm gonna get this one. It's mainly for video (which looks top tier) - if you're wanting to print out large photographs then it's not for that... But after having a look at the photography with it, it's superb. Like the quality of the photographs look phenomenal even on basic cheap lenses. I can imagine avoiding the overheating quite easily by just turning the camera off? Maybe if you're out and it's peak summer, that might be an issue there. But besides that i think i'm sold.
Turning the camera off sure sounds like it would help :D Btw I havent seen any signs of OH. Not in my studio with talking head videos, and not at the latest gym video where I shot everything in 4k 120fps
ZV E1 is the budget a7siii. its more of a stripped down a7siii than a real comparison to the Fx3, however it does come close. The noise performance is also reduced by the high heat in the body. So when it overheats or is close to overheating your sensor performance degrades. But this camera in the right conditions can outperform any other video camera sub 2k price point
Great video. Thanks for sharing! Two things I found that have me switching back, just for context: I enjoy taking photos, sometimes in artificial light, and I ran into issues with banding and synchronization of the electronic shutter. Personally, I use my camera for calls as well, and the ZV-E1 isn’t reliable for that use case. The net: it is an *amazing* camera, but not for my needs.
I thinnk the same, i just purched my ZVE1 , its not a vloging camera its a professional camera. Overheating ? haha just buy the ulanzi fan for 39 usd and now we can record documentaries, interviews, podcasts , social events. Killer professional camera , i love it.
