25:33 I like this death because they had literally no reason it coming, lol. Like yeah, Dash ran straight into a bat and got himself killed which wasn't smart, but then the bat somehow launched Dash's corpse over to a ledge 3 tiles away and one tile above, have it slam right into Jo as he was passing, and then launched him into the dart trap that killed him (as if the spikes that impaled his corpse weren't enough)
Yeah, like it technically *was* his fault, but what happened was nothing short of a Rude Goldberg machine
Unironically this is my favourite series on the channel, Dash fucking pissing Jo off as much as he can while Jacob just has fun with the game and laughs at them is top tier content

the item interaction at 1:38 is so bizarre. caveman picked up turkey, instantly tripped which damaged the turkey once, then the tripping caveman damaged it a second time, killing it. spelunky 2 is such a wonderful game - you see new random shit happen every time you play it :)

But the best part is that none of it is random when you look long enough, it’s all an algorithm.
iirc Derek has explained before that spelunky levels are compacted to encourage interaction within the environment. So that's why there's so many cool things that happen between entities
It's so wholesome of them to use an awesome game such as Spelunky 2 as an outlet to face their demons

did you know, that when Deluxe decided that they would face his demons, the common response was "how did they do it?", much like the common response to the impossible burger

The fact that in over 45 minutes of gameplay you only ever left world 1 a single time is a testament to your incredible teamwork

That time Jacob was the only one alive though, I'm sure they would've survived longer if everyone was alive cause their teamwork is so good

Side Note: Hired hands will do their best to avoid hitting a player. Example: they will not whip if the player will be hit by it. But you can still walk into their attack after they attack.

Every great story begins with the words "_ and _ were playing among us"
You always start with 4 bombs and ropes divided between the party in multiplayer, but it doesn't divide cleanly at 3 players, so someone gets to be underresourced.
They did not divide the default 4 health because they wanted multiplayer to be theoretically winnable.
I know this isn't "haha funny experiment you're so goofy" styled like most comments, but I'm so glad that we're doing Spelunky 2, we didn't do much with it in the main channel so it's nice to see it alive here now, even if we're a good while later

Cool bug facts, if you enable the Run Total Timer, the game (idk if this is still a thing) would continue to use that timer even when the game was paused, allowing your run to somehow report that you'd been on that run for 59:99
