I haven't watched tv for over 10 years now, but you guys should have a tv series much more interesting than any on tv! Si, you and your buddies have really inspired me. I have a genetic condition, hEDS and other chronic illnesses, so get things get boring. When I can't sit and play my guitar or read my favourite book, or I just need distraction from pain I now have you guys to watch! You really make us feel part of the action and all the behind the scene stuff is fun to learn about. Ever since I was about 7/8 years old and scoped up a skinny stone that had been carved to look like a sea lion, out of the crabbing pool at Broadstairs; I have been so intrigued about the lost treasures of the past. Thank you again for sharing. God bless
I watched this last week and when Terry found the doughboy helmet I said ‘I wish I could find a doughboy helmet.’ Yesterday, I was driving in Greenville, South Carolina and saw a WWI doughboy helmet on the sidewalk of an overpass in the middle of town. I stopped and dodged traffic and got to it and found that it was indeed a WWI doughboy helmet with part of the original oilskin liner still attached. How it came to be on an overpass in the middle of a city is a mystery. I think I may have two more wishes coming, however.
What I appreciate most about what you and your friends do, Simon, is not only your tenacity and single-mindedness to make some great finds, but your creativity and ingenuity in re-purposing them. You are all to be admired! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us, Simon!
This place never disappoints! It will be empty soon with all the larks cleaning out the goods! HA HA. But still some very special finds! Glenbrook Connecticut. I like the blue and white tea pot! And I'm like Terry, I like the Stoneware gin bottles. They look like my German Bier Mugs. Chianti bottles! The old ones from Italy have the round bottom! So cool. Egyptian pillar is so pretty! You can tell Flo that I am a Magpie as well. Love shinny! The female with the holes at the bottom, is to be a pincushion top, French and it would be velvet fabric and hold hat pins. Flo did a spectacular job of framing the wallpaper scraps! Too pretty!
When I retire, I'm taking a months vacation, flying to London, getting a permit, and going mudlarking on the Thames foreshore. Its number one on my bucket list. The thought keeps me going. See you guys in five years!
"Thankfully the doughnuts survived." Priorities. lol The "scratch me' cat might have been a match/vesta striker. Maybe wooden matches went in the holes? I always enjoy these group dump excursions. They are so fun.
You have the coolest finds over there in England. Never heard of a bottle dump until I started watching Si. Wonderful to 'be with' like minded souls, your wonderful friends, Terry, Flo, Anna and the many others, who have a great love and respect for history, and what was left so much behind. Don't you wonder why the WWI helmet was thrown out? No family member or relative to treasure save and treasure it? Everything looks so impressive and important when clean and buffed! Thank you Simon for your much appreciated videos!
Hi Si and friends, can’t get enough of you, keep watching you over and over wish I was there with you. Keep up the good work. Thanks from Ontario, Canada 👍👍👍🇨🇦
Arsenic wallpaper can be dangerous to inhale and rubs off your hands to help possible poisoning. Very flammable too. Si you make your friends so happy with your generosity of sharing finds. Til the next adventure, blessings.
You all found some beautiful things. My mom would drag my brother and to old dumps to dig for bottles. Thank for a good video and bringing back memories.
Take care Simon! The way you hack away at the dirt wall of the dump makes me fearful that someone will be digging you up - and you won't be preserved as well as your bottles and relics!! Everyone had extraordinary finds, though I was skeptical when Flo said she wanted to frame that brittle old wallpaper, she turned it into a lovely piece of art!
Every one's got wonderful finds full of history and fun fin😅ding them too. Nice bottles dump😅. Your friend Shirley from new Bern ,, north Carolina USA ❤❤❤have a wonderful day
I remember seeing the little ceramic half of a lady attached to a little crumb brush in an auction and another attached to a pomander in an antique shop. Xx
Hello and thanks for another great vlog Si. I think the cat head that said " strike me!" on it would have had matches sticking out of the holes on it's face and would have sat on a bar in the local pub or on the mantle shelf near the fire place! - Maybe-
Flo's half-doll was made as a handle for a tea cosy, a powder puff, or clothes brush...Check out bisque half-dolls on E Bay for the wider range of them. Some were made like a lady serving tray of hot chocolate, and used on cocoa pots as a cosy handle. They can be very costly.
Flo's finds of the wall paper was the nicest. Very tasteful the way she mounted them in the frame. She overall has a good eye to display her pieces. Err.... you're pretty good to.
Fantastic dig today. One of the best groups of bottles I have seen at one time. The little poisons, the stoneware, the fragile wine bottles....just awesome. Mmmmm....and how about some tasty "Bloater Paste".......nice jar.....skip the paste....lol Thanks to you and your fellow diggers, for sharing your day with us. I loved it!
What grand fun snooping the bottle dump. Fun seeing what everyone takes home. Terry looks dashing with helmet. I think everyone would like his receipt for cleaning glass and bottles, they sparkle.
9:50 She as said "trash as far as the eye can see" I was think potential treasure and adventure as far as the eye can see, I would be like a kid with free rein of a candy store, would never want to leave a place like that. Thanks for sharing
What a nice group of people, you mudlarkers are. Wish I lived near you, I would enjoy being part of the group, and finding bits and pieces and learning the history of them. Thank you for this viedo and all the others you do.
When Flo said she was going to "frame" the wallpaper swatches, I thought, 'hmmm, odd', but it really turned out striking!! Great eye & idea, Flo! Sadly, 100 yrs on, it's not likely to have much to dig up, as everything will be smothered in plastic & floating around in the sea...**sad face** Beautiful job, all!! Looking fwd to your next go-round!
Just love the dump digging! I think your little cat might be a toothpick holder with picks sticking out the holes where his whiskers should be?? Cheers!
THAT...was awesome !...i love old bottles, and that was old bottle finding on steroids. I didn't know there were "bottle dumps" ? as glass is one of few infinitely recyclable materials on Earth. Thank the Lord they were not. Great stuff, all of you Guys n Gals....Peace.
Thank you for all your videos i watch with much attention, think for me a source of inspiration and creativity all this bits and pieces have a historic value, please keep uncovering all these goodies.
The little ceramic half a lady is the top of a teepot cover. Theo skirt os made of thick lawers of fabric in order to keep ter warm. Its very beautiful! Good find!
I think you all found an abundance of great items. The newspaper and wallpaper samples were very interesting and your inkwell holder really cleaned up great. I enjoyed your day hunt thanks for taking us along.
What a great day with great finds and a almost burial, ACTION SHOTS and you really know how to keep your fans watching. As a dump rooter myself, at least in the past, I loved every minuet! One has to really search for dumps or old out houses to find anything decent here anymore. Dumps have been dozed over to prevent hazards, so they say and are very few if any dumps that haven't been dug in this area. I believed I mentioned that a good way back I found four rare Lancaster Pa. Beer bottles that I sold years later and got $865, one selling for $525. I used this money to pay for wood to build my 10'x28' deck off my second floor here in the woods. Loved the bottles but the deck more. I had just enough to pay for all materials. Thanks Kindly Si Finds! My Sunday evening would be incomplete without muck and mud! Love, Light , Peace and onion bottles filled with hammered gold coins! DaveyJO in Pa.
On Anna’s newspaper I noticed “ Horrockes’ Bed Sheets” . Horrockes Mill is the largest still standing Cotton Mill in Preston Lancashire where I live. It’s no longer in use but part of it is a hotel and Antiques centre and other businesses. In the height of the Industrial Revolution when Cotton was King Horrockes was one of the biggest employers and manufacturers in the city. They made all sorts of cotton products from bedding to dress fabrics.
Some great finds there, those stoneware gin bottles & wine bottles & that night light holder, are lovely things, that was some cave-in!, I'd definitely wear gloves & long trousers! be careful, nearly lost ur donuts! Wish there was somewhere like that surface tip near me.
Hi, Sî and friends, you all did really good on your finds. Some of the bottles had different colors which really took on a shine when they were all cleaned up. The doll heads were a little creepy.? The kewpie figure is really cute. The little objects really appeal to me. The different types of wallpaper didn't really appeal to at first, but your collage turned out really nice. Great job! It feels like I’m there with you. God Bless.
The China doll topper with hole in the base, use to be a tea cosy, and her dress would have been made of ribbon over the melted cosy. My nan had one and l still have the lady.hope this helps.x.
My mother had one on a tea cosy as well. The half dolls were versatile wee things. Now they are "collector's items" and can be expensive. The one found here was really cute and quite unusual!
The lady figure at 26:10 with the holes they indeed were sewn on some had a brush on the bottom like to sweep out maybe an ashtray others had a big poofy looking skirt stuffed with cotton and were pin cushions i actually had both...lovely dig i love going to these with you guys.
Those old bottles are so beautiful, when they're cleaned up. I've always loved a beautiful bit of glass. Maybe it's in my DNA, from having glass makers on both sides of my family, Murano glass from my mom's side back in Italy and Heisey glass from my dad's side here in the U.S. Those rounded bottom wine bottles, that would have had straw on their bottoms, were my favorite of the bottles. My nan used to have a row of them, on a windowsill in her cellar. I also really liked Flo's little pewter shoe. It looks like the type my great-grandmother used to wear. Thanks, for another great video and one that brought back those memories for me!
Looks like you all had a great day and some truly fab finds. With only a couple of days until the foreshore exhibition it must be a bit hectic over there, so extra thanks for posting!
I am so jealous! We have nothing like the places here for us to look like you do there. I so want to.come visit your country and do nothing but mudlarking and digging in the dirt! Some day soon I will come and hopefully be able to.do so!
The 1920's Lady is called a Half Doll. It's for making pin cushions. You make the bottom skirt, stuffed with sawdust or any kind of stuffing, and you sew the half doll on it through the holes.
The Torquay cat item at 17.37 that says 'scratch me' is a match striker. The matches would be placed in the holes as whiskers and then there would be a rough area for the match to be struck and lit then the discarded match would be put in the cats mouth.
The porcelain piece - the lady with the holes at the bottom... is actually a doll pin cushion. What would happen is the sewer would add their own scrap materials and stuffing to the bottom to create her dress.
Amazing what was ditched years ago, the inkpot holder was, for me, best find. Just a thought, good that recycling wasn't going in Victorian times. The tin helmet could be a throw away from dads army. Well done everyone, thanks for sharing.
Derrick Palmer : Recycling WAS going on on the Victorian tips - whole families acted as tip pickers. A lot of the beers were deposit bottles and would go back to the breweries, bones to the glue works, materials for re-use etc.
My thought when I first saw the cliff was that it was dangerous and I would be hesitant to even stand in that area. I'm glad no one was hurt! The finds were very exciting however.
Awesome day today out there glad you guys enjoyed it look like he had a lot of fun found some good stuff you stay blessed and I'll see you on the next👍
B. Vaughn : you don't have to start with a 'really good detector'. When I started all I had was a £30 Treasure Seeker unit. Found more with that then I ever did with later, more pricey machines.
So glad I found your channel! I enjoy the bottle hunting, always a surprise what you pull out! You guys find such cool stuff! I really like the lady riding the pig pulling a chariot your friend found!

Pin cushion or whisk broom Half Doll with the little holes. Germany The cat with holes in its face could be for decorative Hatpins

Steve H Thanks Steve! Yes if there’s a chance it can be repurposed- it will be. Thanks for watching!
I feel certain I would be a mudlarker if I lived in the UK.

Totally agree.

I really like how Si is very generous in sharing his finds with the women
"Thankfully the doughnuts survived." Priorities. lol The "scratch me' cat might have been a match/vesta striker. Maybe wooden matches went in the holes? I always enjoy these group dump excursions. They are so fun.
You think mudlarking is dirty, bottle digging is the ultimate dirty hobby. Great stuff Si.
You have the coolest finds over there in England. Never heard of a bottle dump until I started watching Si. wow.....the paper items are the best finds ....framing them would be a great idea!!
Sonia K Flo did frame them! 👍🏻😊
Reminds me of restoring houses and finding some lovely wallpaper behind modern fitted wardrobes.
How does paper survive outdoors?
Fantastic finds! Loved what Flo(?) did with paper. Terry’s helmet and bottles were great. Ana also found great things. The guy on pig was a laugh too.
Every one's got wonderful finds full of history and fun fin😅ding them too. Nice bottles dump😅. Your friend Shirley from new Bern ,, north Carolina USA ❤❤❤have a wonderful day

Also seen them as pin cushions
The 20s lady with the holes was the top for a pin cushion her skirt was the pin cushion
I think she may be the top of a cloth bodied doll. I see these a lot in the U.S.
Yes, a half doll pin cushion.
@Phyllis Bowler Correct, i have found these myself years ago which led me to research them and to my surprise they were from pin cushions.
Yes...sometimes called "Half dolls"
I agree, my Gran had one.
Gosh I wish I could join all of you.
Sweetpea ditto! It’d be adventurous, educating and therapeutic all at once.
Make that three including me 😎
Fore Shore 🙂🍻👍
Me too

It just blows me away, how many beautiful things that are found.
Broken or not , just gorgeous.
The ladies can see that. Wonderful finds.
Don’t mind me, just binging! Lovely finds for all. And a good reminder to be safe out there!
What grand fun snooping the bottle dump. Fun seeing what everyone takes home. Terry looks dashing with helmet. I think everyone would like his receipt for cleaning glass and bottles, they sparkle.
The bottles were cleaned in a tumbling machine by a great friend of ours... ✌
@@telseddon Well aren't you the lucky pup! Your friend does a wonderful job.
I love the bottle dump videos. So much to find!
What wonderful finds you all had, and what a treasure trove to explore! Well done, everyone!
Hi Si, Terry, Anna and Flo!!! Love it when you guys go to the bottle dump! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Si. I think the cat is a match holder. Wooden matches for whiskers, then SCRATCH!
You kitty cat was meant to hold matches. "Scratch me", get it? 😸
Love the porcelain sign & the cat fun stuff!!
That holy cat is really creepy! Flo's collage is just fab! Great vid as always!
9:50 She as said "trash as far as the eye can see" I was think potential treasure and adventure as far as the eye can see, I would be like a kid with free rein of a candy store, would never want to leave a place like that.

Great bottle dump! I found one once, officials of the B and O railroad drove me off! Didn't realize I had strayed onto their property!!
When Flo said she was going to "frame" the wallpaper swatches, I thought, 'hmmm, odd', but it really turned out striking!!
Great eye & idea, Flo!

Great finds, well done👍 the little 20s style doll is actually part of a pin cushion 👍 the enamel sign is very collectable, probably worth around£100
Nice one!

I WISH I could come visit from the States and mudlark with you! What FUN I'd have!!!
I so thoroughly enjoy these dump trips, every bit as much as the mudlarking. Thanks for taking me along.
Very interesting. Friends got some Unusual finds!
Very cool. Terry's lead figure looks more like a ship captain gazing through a spyglass than a soldier to me.
Hi, Sî and friends, you all did really good on your finds. Some of the bottles had different colors which really took on a shine when they were all cleaned up. The doll heads were a little creepy.? Awesome finds. Even the mini avalanche was a bit of adventure.
Si's ceramic cat reminds me of a sponge holder. It sat on the edge of the sink and you placed a sponge in it. .
The 1920's Lady is called a Half Doll. It's for making pin cushions. You make the bottom skirt, stuffed with sawdust or any kind of stuffing, and you sew the half doll on it through the holes.
Thankyou for sharing your very varied finds.
Such wonderful little finds.
Fantastic talk Monica! Thank you Si for recordingvit and sharing!
The Torquay cat item at 17.37 that says 'scratch me' is a match striker. The matches would be placed in the holes as whiskers and then there would be a rough area for the match to be struck and lit then the discarded match would be put in the cats mouth.
jprolls rolls Fantastic ID my friend! It hadn’t occurred to me. Thank you
WELL DONE ANNA !!!!!!
Great finds, one of my favorite videos. Randy from GA. , USA
The cat with the mouth is for a cigarette ashtray! Holes in the mouth on top! Great dig! Love it when u go to the bottle dump!
Paradise... Love the videos from this site!
What interesting finds! I was impressed that you were able to identify Anna's Chianti bottles :)
wow..very old and cool bottles. Man,,,you guys lucked out.
WONDERFUL FINDS MARIE
I loved the little jug,
The porcelain lady was often sown onto a cloth bag that held hankies. My family has one a bit larger that has passed to seven generations.
The porcelain piece - the lady with the holes at the bottom... is actually a doll pin cushion. What would happen is the sewer would add their own scrap materials and stuffing to the bottom to create her dress.
Great video, the small blue bottles are cool
Amazing what was ditched years ago, the inkpot holder was, for me, best find. Just a thought, good that recycling wasn't going in Victorian times. The tin helmet could be a throw away from dads army. Well done everyone, thanks for sharing.
Derrick Palmer : Recycling WAS going on on the Victorian tips - whole families acted as tip pickers. A lot of the beers were deposit bottles and would go back to the breweries, bones to the glue works, materials for re-use etc.
Enjoyed watching and learning. Congratulations everyone on your discoveries. Looking forward to your next adventure to save artifacts and relics.
Some really nice finds there. well done to every one.
Cheers!
My thought when I first saw the cliff was that it was dangerous and I would be hesitant to even stand in that area. I'm glad no one was hurt! The finds were very exciting however.
Sooo jealous 😁 you guys had so much fun 😀beautiful bottles !!!
Awesome day today out there glad you guys enjoyed it look like he had a lot of fun found some good stuff you stay blessed and I'll see you on the next👍
Ok the bottle dump is my mudlarking favourite spot, and nice the crew is almost all ther
e ;)
That would be so much fun. I would love to go metal detecting here but I can't afford a really good metal detector.
B. Vaughn : you don't have to start with a 'really good detector'. When I started all I had was a £30 Treasure Seeker unit. Found more with that then I ever did with later, more pricey machines.
That silver ink well I think you could get some small clay pots and put them in there and plant maybe some herbs in them. Great find.
The vintage wall paper is fantastic!
So glad I found your channel! I enjoy the bottle hunting, always a surprise what you pull out! You guys find such cool stuff! I really like the lady riding the pig pulling a chariot your friend found!
Excellent finds!
