rednecking a mercury tohatsu outboard with Honda big tiller handle

I used a mercury cable set 8M0083237 and shorter cable.for the shift linkage and OEM Honda for throttle.
then drilled and used #10 screw for the mounts with small cotter pins.

Thanks! The larger tohatsu are made by Honda but sadly they don't share parts in the mid and smaller motors.

I used the longer Honda cable for throttle and 3300 cable adapter kit and seems to work good for the shifter I used a merc gen 2 36” cable redrilled the hole lower on the end that mounts to tiller arm and used all the factory locations on the shift and throttle arms and it seems to work fine
The shift cable is really stiff a more flexible cable would be better but for now this is what I’m using it seems to shift and throttle fine I might add a spring for throttle just so it returns to idle easier

I used the longer cable for throttle too at first, but went to short cable as the bend radius was less, which made throttle smoother linear after I extended the linkage.
The bend radius where.cable enters the motor was more critical for that smoother throttle operation. The extra spring was two pieces from Lowes helps with the return.

Ya it's a cheaper alternative than tohatsu or mercury. You can find Yamaha handles cheap too
