As a policeman in Rhodesia in the early seventies, the 350cc Yamaha R3, R5 and then the RD350 were used (all 2 strokes) , replacing the BSA matchless 500 single. The R5 was my favourite.
CHiP's Kawasaki, Honda CB650, Suzuki 380. Still a very good video. You can't compile a video if you don't have them. Still one of the best motorcycle channels on TH-cam
Can't believe GT750 and Norton has been used as police bikes. In Denmark the fjr 1300 has been the bike of choose until it didn't pass Euro5. They have just signed a contract on Ducati Multistradas. I can't wait to see them :)
There is also the legendary police bike that never was: The Ducati Apollo. The first ever 4 cylinder Duke with 1200cc and a (literally) tyre-shredding 100hp. Two prototypes were built.
Here's some information I do hope that you'll appreciate. The original Apollo had 100 horsepower, at 7000 r.p.m., with a 10:1 compression ratio, and 4 - 32 m.m. Dell'Orto SS carbs. Ducati called it the Sport Version. Tire technology or lack of at the time, furthered the development of the " NORMALE ", which had milder camshafts, only 8:1 compression ratio, a single 24 m.m. carb, for EACH bank of cylinders, which reduced the H.P. to approximately 80, at 6000 r.p.m. They then detuned, again, to 7:1 compression ratio, with even less duration camshafts, resulting in about 65 h.p. This would have been intended for Police use. I do hope that helps Sir. T.S. RACING
@@t.s.racing Not really. On the one hand I knew most of this already and on the other the Apollo was always meant to be a police bike since the entire development was funded from the very beginning by Ducati's North American importer with a eye on the lucrative police bike market. It was ultimately killed by the police insistence on 16" wheels. The power would not have been a problem had they allowed larger tyres.
Moto Guzzi has used model 850 T3 (for example) in police services (carabineri). I have had one in original condition (blue). Heavy bike, not fast, bad brakes, thirsty and overheating quickly. But after changing to better Dell'Orto carburators, steel-flex brake-tubes and a more "open" exhaust it was a fine motorcycle for everyday use. But I miss here the really legendary Indian 750 Police Scout. And a JAWA police motorcycle doesn't exist? 😎
...the 1975 BMW R75/5 is considered to be the best motorcycle that BMW made... ... although not a police motorcycle, the 1942 Harley-Davidson XA would have been an interesting addition to the list in this video...
In my stable.... Cb450 Police, Cx 500 Honda Police trike, Xs 650 Police, two French police, one French Military Police and one French fire dispatch unit.,, and a Swiss Condor which I plan to put in Military Police trim
I'm not a Harley fan but I once read an article in bike magazine about CHP using them to push broken down cars off the highway , but when they changed over to Kawasaki's they found that the forks bent backwards trying to do the same .
Sad to see that the GT750 is running without air filter. In addition, the stupid owner is revving a cold engine. Poor bike! Urgently deserves another home.
You didn't have my Police bike the Kawasaki W2 from 1967, or the other that were used in My country Australia. give me a contact e-mail I will send you a few pictures.
One you should try and get some footage of is the Velocette LE. We called them Noddy bikes, they were just right for Mr Plod the policeman in the Noddy stories. Our poor police had to ride them, as well as ghe big twins from the other UK makers.
@Alfred Wedmore In my neck of the woods, Somerset, the village cops had the use of the LE one week in every month, the other three weeks it was a pushbike.
I reckon that dog out accelerated the Norton in that last shot
Jack Russels are quick off the mark.
I rode a 1983 Harley FLH and then a Kawasaki KZ1000P as a Motor Officer. The Harley got more attention, but the Kawasaki was a performer. Good times.
They did not include the kawasaki kz1000 famous for the TV series Chips.

Thank You !
The kettle looks like it has honda comstar wheels
That is exactly what I thought. Had a CB650 with them.
Me too.
Yes. Those sure are Honda Comstars. I wonder what the story behind that is?
Haha i was wondering if somebody else would also notice it…
It not only looks like, it HAS Honda Comstars.
Ravin' mad sir!
Cheers

The acceleration of the dog🐶 in pursuit of a motorcycle was great.

Earlier I saw the bike in a Japanese museum, very beautiful .
Police motorcycles In Vietnam is Honda night hawk 250. This motorbycles're used until the day.
I had a honda cbx750p Irish cop bike great for town but over revs on the open road shaft drive gearbox low range for escort duty
哈哈哈……很有意思的老警用機車懷舊大會! 🤩🤩🤩
Loved the guy on the Guzzi with his hush puppies lol 😂
Las motos usadas en la serie chip's eran Kawasaki Kz 1000 police interceptor , buen video saludos 👍
Honda had a police CB450 back in 1969, 1970.
I know you did the R75 but I would have mentioned the R80/7 TIC too... mainly because that's my daily ride
The wheels on the Suzuki 2 strokes look like Honda ComStar wheels.
its from Indonesian footage... probably having too much nail puncture problems from classic spoke rims and tube tyres
@@fidelcatsro6948 Amigo, punctures come via the tire, very very rarely via the rim.
@@moestrei having cast rims allow use of tubeless tyres...
@@fidelcatsro6948 I had puctures with my Hondas but never on my Moto Guzzi (spoke wheels) even I put a lot more mileage on the latter.

I was expecting boring, crap bikes then a Guzzi pops up. I'll take the Guzzi, the Beemer and the Harley. OK just make it the first two.

Esas motos palidecen frente una Sanglas 400 de la Guardia Civil, eso sí que es una moto 👍
I remember the Moto Guzzi police bike from a Dirty Harry movie - San Francisco.
I love cop bikes!
Yes you missed Triumph Twins which were the choice of many police forces around the world 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Where's panche! Z1000,s!! Kz,s forever!!!!!!
I think it was the argentinian police force that used Benelli sei's
Interesting. It's probably because of the de tomaso link.

I like the cb750.
Dutch police used DKW in the 70's
Wow Norton used Wankel UFO technology in the ICE Age when the whole world of other cats were using conventional 2stroke or 4stroke engines!!!
Moto Guzzi all the way ❤🇮🇹
Una più bella dell'altra!
Surprised to see that 750 GT Suzuki redlined at only 7,000 rpm
probably because the 2 stroke buffalos made so much smoke, people could no longer recognise the polic bike with all that plume of cloud beyond 6500rpm
KZ1000P!
Enfield Bullet in India?

Indonesia?
@@fidelcatsro6948 yup
@@farhanpratama0285 you lucky cats.. those are fast 2 stroke bikes!

Why don't Triumph make police bikes now? Why don't the British police forces, commission Triumph to make police bikes?
