Thanks for an interesting, informative video. I am still fond of the Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamha 2 strokes. I had no idea of the square four, or the others that didn't go into production.
I had a couple of the Puch 250 Twingles. They were fairly fast, with great, low end torque, with the long stroke.
I also had one Kawasaki H1. It was really fast, and dangerous to handle. With the right frame and suspension, reed valves, and just a little tuning, it would probably keep up with the same displacement, four stroke, crotch rockets, of today. Correct me if I am wrong on that. It's just a guess.

great classic bikes, i like that IFA / MZ-BK (Boxer Kardan) 350 seen in 5:39 and that Scott Fyler 500 from the 1920s in 2:00. i like the 1920s - 1940s bikes, prior to the 1920s the bikes look to much like bicycles with engines and after the 40s they look to bulky. 70s bikes will have their admirerers i guess but those 70s bikes dont look that interesting to me, its like the designers lost their design language. are these original bikes from back then or replications that were build later ? do you own these bikes and if so, where do find all these classic bikes from back then from ?

I had 2 different two stroke bikes in the 1970's. A GT500 Suzuki in 1972 & then a GT550 Suzuki. The GT550 had more power but the GT500 could go up to 112 MPH & handled alot better than the GT550. It sure was fun to watch the 2 stroke exhaust smoke out the view of cars in the rear view mirrors when accelerating at full throttle or passing!

I think the answer is “badly”!
Seriously, consider it geometrically, the engine can be represented as a line, perpendicular to the direction of air flow.
Cooling is best for a single cylinder, with only the rear side not receiving fast moving, cooling air.
Once we accept a twin cylinder, the internal face & two rear sides is under reduced cooling.
The triple is as bad as it gets, the middle cylinder being essentially fully enclosed except for one face in the cooling air.
Adding more cylinders beyond three doesn’t present additional cooling problems.
I don’t know who made the 7 cylinder two stroke, but it could have been made by Allen Millyard, a modest yet very talented engineer. His TH-cam channel is just terrific.

Fair enough. By contrast, I kept repeating the ride by clips in what looked like former East Germany. The sound is really interesting to my ears.
I know the German & English engineers were restless inventors and all manner of configurations that didn’t quite make sense got built. As they’d have said, “Vive la difference!”

Once again the EPA killed off all the good fun stuff.

  • @GT380man
    @GT380man ปีที่แล้ว

It may have been touch and go that we got even the wonderful two stroke twin and triples that we received during the glory days of the 1970s!?
In those days, the EPA in California won grudging respect for beginning to clean the air in hot, sunny cities like LA.
In doing so, they destroyed the market for more interesting two stroke multi cylinder engines.
The EPA long ago lost the plot, like those driving out all manner of very clean modern cars, having become purely political.

Lots of 2strokes in the 50s and 60s. All Jacobson lawn mowers. Evenrude and Johnson outboard motors. All chainsaws. Everywhere you looked 2 strokes. I had a Suzuki X-6 Hustler and later a three cylinder Suzuki 380 3 cylinder.

Nothing Compares with a 2-stroke I've got a 20-year-old Lawn-Boy 6 and 1/2 horse 2-stroke walk behind lawn mower grew up with them they're illegal now because of the freaking EPA period has nothing to do with these monsters but two stroke is a two-stroke just like the damn Wankel rotary engines 3 and 4 rotor scream like hell and if you don't know what you got to dump oil in the gasoline
