    Well done Richard on completing a great multi day adventure. No better feeling than battling the physical and mental challenges of a multi day hike. Enjoyed watching your adventure unfold

      Thanks Anthony I was thinking about your recent thoughts about long walks and the concerns you have before you go. I hope your planning is going well. For me this was a tough section I just had to do so I can move on to next challenge. 42 miles on flat is different to hill walking but still pleased I made it 👍

    Great video. Definitely a challenge. My bad knees keep me from doing those long walk hikes. Glad I could live through you.

    Nice one. I did some of those stretches recently an enjoyable part of the walk. I'm now at the halfway point at Reading and hoping to get a few more miles in during the coming week. You got some good distances in I'm taking smaller steps 10-12 miles each week.

    • @DayTripperAdventures
      @DayTripperAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Richard - I just thought this stretch was worth covering bigger distances due to lack of transport links. Other stretches I did tended to be 10-14 miles . Well done on getting to Reading. There’s much more to see as you approach London 👍

    Great adventure and achievement. Thanks for taking us along and finding the time and energy to share. Nice to see your very basic but very effective setup. Tarp and bivi has to be the most versatile of all shelters. Only just subbed and look forward to viewing the rest of your content. All the best Pete 👍

    Another fine adventure Richard 👏. I spent my earliest years living on a dairy farm, and have only just learned that cows can be dangerous 😳. Cow pats and electrified fences were more of a problem to me 😆. Condensation is a strange and unpredictable affair. I used to live in a van without heating, and condensation was always worst when the temperature dropped rapidly during the night, particularly if there wasn’t much of a breeze.

    • @DayTripperAdventures
      @DayTripperAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks H.B. I think you have to try and judge the mood of cows before crossing the field. Never get between mother cow and her calf. Yes condensation is temperature differential and ventilation. There’s nothing you can do on certain nights to avoid it. Same in a boat or caravan. Thanks again for sharing 👍

    Very good hike Richard wet feet and all. I like saviors like that on a long walk. Can't beat water when thirsty. Full view. Good going. Mark

    • @DayTripperAdventures
      @DayTripperAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mark - it was a tough one but I was happy to do two wild camps and cover the miles. The snacks and food are little carrots on a stick to keep you going. You don’t know what it will be like until you push yourself a bit. Hope all is well with you - Richard 👍

    Not bad for a Daytripper.😁 Terrific will power to continue after your earlier mishaps. Back on the horse mentality. I believe your stealth camping experience stood you in good stead. Congrats on your success. I hope when I start mine in September.

      Trekking poles also help as a farmer will often shout and raise a stick 🦯 to them if they misbehave. They can sense fear so best to act ‘like you mean business’ 👍😄

      Hi Shaun - as you can tell I don’t have strict plan so don’t know how far I’ll be at what time. If something is open when I’m there it’s a bonus but I had my own food with me regardless so was prepared anyway 👍

    Another good video, I'd recommend maybe a water filter to give you more options for drinking water.

    • @DayTripperAdventures
      @DayTripperAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Keith - I did have one but the Thames has a lot of agricultural chemicals in it which I’m not sure would get filtered out. It’s different to filtering a penning spring, so I used water points which turned out to be sufficient thankfully 👍😄

    The only thing I find that gets rid of condensation is a fire near your tent. Not too close but able to heat the area your camped in.

    • @DayTripperAdventures
      @DayTripperAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dominic- I suppose that heats the air outside to the same temperature as inside so no temperature differential 👍
