Little did I know a blessing on disguise was about to be revealed. Side note: A sure way to know you're getting older is you see standard definition and realize this was decades ago.
I wouldnt care if Rodgers won as many rings as Brady , Favre will always be my favorite QB of alltime , and at least as far as im concerned , the Packer's GOAT. There was just something about him, Rodgers is a surgeon , more precise , but sometimes that preciseness means that the safe play is just throwing it away.. Favre never cared about the safe play , he didnt care the situation , he went for it all on every snap, sometimes it crushed us , sometimes it was epic , but it was ALWAYS exciting. Rodgers you can tell hes at work doing a job , Favre was just a kid at recess having a blast and solely playing for the love of the game. God , there was nothing like it. I almost shed a tear watching this video lol

I have never witnessed anyone enjoy the game of football as Brett did....no one. I mean REALLY enjoy every minute of every game and I doubt we ever see another like him.
This was like his first game off the bench in college...he came in and led a comeback win as a true freshman for Southern Miss against Tulane. I was at that game and said, "this guy is gonna be in the pros someday".
I went to the USM VS Florida State game in 1987 in Hattiesburg. That was the first time I saw Brett play. He was a freshman and everyone in the stands were complaining about him throwing the ball too hard. None of the receivers could hold onto it. USM lost 62-10. I think Brett completed 5 passes. 90 percent were dropped.
2 years after that game, FSU came back to USM and Favre led his team to an upset victory! Also interesting that FSU had 3 of Brett's future teammates on their roster- Edgar Bennett, Terrell Buckley and LeRoy Butler.

I watched that game my oldest son when he was little boy, he said who is that man Dad. I said that's Brett and looks like grandpa's Packers found them a QB. He smiled and so did my Dad. My dad was a long life packers fan from the 60s. He passed away before he could see them win a Superbowl with Brett. I have been a Eagles fan my whole life but watch the packers still for my Dad. As a native Texan and lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan I must say thank you for posting. I was a freshman in HS when Don Majkowski had his one good year in GB. I was a senior in HS when Farve came off the bench for Majkowski in this game. The Cowboys played the afternoon game against the Cardinals right after this; so I caught the final 5-10 minutes of this game. The 1992-93 NFL season was great year for the NFL.
I was a freshman in high school. Didn't see the game because we had to March in the village parade in western Wisconsin. Helped bring the packers back onto the map.
Being a near life long Viking fan since Joe Kapp and the 69 Vikings I remember hearing this very Sunday about Favre and what he just did and i remember thinking at the time NOW we don't have to worry about the Packers there going to suck with this unknown QB. WELL I was completely WRONG and you know what we still love Favre. In fact I swear the FUN went out of pro football when Favre retired.

It looked like the Bengals could shake that 3-13 season of a year before had they won this game ... would have been 3-0 with a middling Vikings team coming in the next week. Instead, it became the second of many forgettable seasons. We all know how it changed things in GB.

Response to those who say Rodgers is better: It should be very hard for an intelligent NFL fan to definitively say that. Favre's talents were unmatched from '94 through end of the decade. He had a couple years (like '99) when regular season int's were too frequent but all those 30+ TD years were insane. One could argue that his 5 straight seasons of 30+ is the equivalent of 5 straight 45+ TD seasons in today's NFL. Without injuries to Brooks, Freeman, & Chmura in '96 he could have been the 1st to break Marino's 48. What I'm saying is that Rodgers needs to be applauded for being an outstanding player who takes full advantage of the rules that benefit the passing game. That and he doesn't turn it over much. But to compare him Favre without considering eras or the fact that Favre's career includes more exciting comebacks (see above) is short-sighted. +Dave Stetts 1999 was also when he broke his right thumb in the season opener vs. Oakland. He led them on a last minute comeback though, as he did in 3 of the first four games of that season. But ultimately the thumb injury took its toll on his play. You could see him spraying a few balls around for INTs, as he did in 2003 when he hurt his thumb again. He never could work that thumb properly again after 1999. Amazing that he still could even throw at the level that he did afterwards. Also in 1999, there was the failed Ray Rhodes experiment as head coach. They were just a team in transition then. New coach, a roster being turned over and an injured QB. I can only imagine how good they would have been if Holmgren stuck around for another 5-10 years.....
Completely agree. I think he sprained it in the preseason then banged it on the helmet of a Raiders' d-lineman on his follow-through. It was clearly something that hurt all season, and he got beat up in general. No deep threats passing (Schroeder & Bradford average, Freeman suddenly slowed WAY down) & not a good enough running attack w/ Levens' lack of durability.

I'm just happy that we've been blessed with two legendary future HOF Quarterbacks in the last 25 years, when most franchises struggle to even find a QB that's half-decent (see the Browns, Jaguars, Titans, Jets, Texans, Buccaneers etc). So instead of saying who's better, we should just be glad we're not at the bottom of the league wondering if we should start Blaine Gabbert or Brandon Weeden in the next game.

I was at the game, at the age of 8, with my mom. I'm SO happy I was there. I've been to probably 50 Packer games, including the NFCC in Chicago, but still remember this game vividly.

Not true. In the 2011 season finale, the Packers had everything wrapped up so they benched Rodgers and started Matt Flynn. Then in 2013 when Rodgers went down with an injury, they started 3 different QBs- Seneca Wallace, Scott Tolzien and Matt Flynn.
I think it's ironic that Cincinnati was the first team that brett had ever won against and yet they were Rodgers last team to beat in the NFL. Clearly the Bengals were a special team to beat for both Favre and Rodgers.
I was in junior high when this happened and I remember this game vividly. Grew up 30 minutes from Lambeau field. From that moment forward he walked on water in GB...until the dick pics. He's been forgiven, though, and is back to walking on water.

I don't know, but i remember being upset with scalpers before a game in 1998 because they were selling tickets for like $125. They kept the price above $100 even after the game started. But of course the demand had gone way up because they won the Super Bowl a couple years earlier. I imagine back in 1992 the tickets were half of that price from a scalper.

Completely agree. I think he sprained it in the preseason then banged it on the helmet of a Raiders' d-lineman on his follow-through. It was clearly something that hurt all season, and he got beat up in general. No deep threats passing (Schroeder & Bradford average, Freeman suddenly slowed WAY down) & not a good enough running attack w/ Levens' lack of durability.
+Dave Stetts As a Packers fan myself, I don't even bother with comparing the two. I'm just happy that we've been blessed with two legendary future HOF Quarterbacks in the last 25 years, when most franchises struggle to even find a QB that's half-decent (see the Browns, Jaguars, Titans, Jets, Texans, Buccaneers etc). So instead of saying who's better, we should just be glad we're not at the bottom of the league wondering if we should start Blaine Gabbert or Brandon Weeden in the next game.

I was at the game, at the age of 8, with my mom. I'm SO happy I was there. I've been to probably 50 Packer games, including the NFCC in Chicago, but still remember this game vividly.

Remember that only once in NFL history has 1 player won 3 consecutive MVPs. Not Marino, Elway, Rodgers, Brady, Manning; OH THAT'S RIGHT his name is BRETT FAVRE. ALSO people tend to forget approximately 30-40 percent of his pics, because of the velocity of his throws, bounced off receivers hands popping up into the air.

Back then Packer games were just a big tailgate party and if they won it was a bonus. Barely anyone in the crowd is even wearing Packer apparel. Literally no one expected them score. That kind of thing just didn't happen to us.

Not true. In the 2011 season finale, the Packers had everything wrapped up so they benched Rodgers and started Matt Flynn. Then in 2013 when Rodgers went down with an injury, they started 3 different QBs- Seneca Wallace, Scott Tolzien and Matt Flynn.

I think it's ironic that Cincinnati was the first team that brett had ever won against and yet they were Rodgers last team to beat in the NFL. Clearly the Bengals were a special team to beat for both Favre and Rodgers.

I was in junior high when this happened and I remember this game vividly. Grew up 30 minutes from Lambeau field. From that moment forward he walked on water in GB...until the dick pics. He's been forgiven, though, and is back to walking on water.

I don't know, but i remember being upset with scalpers before a game in 1998 because they were selling tickets for like $125. They kept the price above $100 even after the game started. But of course the demand had gone way up because they won the Super Bowl a couple years earlier. I imagine back in 1992 the tickets were half of that price from a scalper.
