It's a bit funny that Orville is a better Star Trek than the Star Trek we've been getting for the last few years.
I love it, they shouted at us fans for Not supporting a transformer actor in Discovery season 2 I think!its all about gender politics and Not story telling under Kurtzmann tv series! I had a big smile on my face during the trailer for the 1st season of Picard, the smile evaporated during the first episode though!
💯 So much better.
The orville is not as good as you think
Brilliant. I’ve missed Star Trek and the Orville keeps the spirit of old trek alive.
It’s the true spiritual successor to TNG.
The orville is not star trek
Great news. The Orville is the closest thing to Star Trek we've had since 2005.
Not claiming it IS STAR TREK? Have you had a revelation?
Since 1994….
I really can not wait for another season, well in this case 2 seasons.
@ I've never claimed it was ST. Just that it's the closest thing to ST since ENT. (Though I can understand why others would say it is ST -- not because they think it is, just as an expression of how much like ST it is.)
Yes thank god, I love the Orvil, all for a shake up of the command crew a few premonitions a jump ahead a few years in time, and a season 5 this decade as well 😁😁😁
It's about time I have enjoy this show been hoping for more orville.❤The Orville
Holy Frack, I thought The Orville was long gone, and never coming back. This is Fantastic News.
Just waiting on Stargate revival now.
Please, no.
SG-1 overstayed its welcome, Atlantis played Russian Roulette with too many of the main characters and Universe never had any of the charm the first two shows had.
It was too dark, like they tried to mix Battlestar Galactica 2004 with Lost in Space...
GREAT news! I really needed to hear this. Thank you.
I think 1 thing A Lot of people miss !! Is Seth McFarland is an actual Star Trek Veteran ,,,, He was Actually an Engineer on the NX-01 Enterprise under Commander Tucker .... So He truly understands what Gene Roddenberry's Vision was and how to get there ......... What do you guys think ?
It gets outstated that he isn't the only one. Brannon Braga doesn't get enough online credit for the work he has done with Seth. He was awarded a Peabody award for The Orville.
Y E A H Best news I’ve heard in quite awhile! Thanks for the update 🎉🎉🎉 ❤❤❤
The Orville’s outtakes on the cutting room floor are exponentially better than anything labeled Trek in the last 20 years.
That's good, but need more. 6 and 7 too! The more you do the cheaper it is.
The Orville is way better than most Kurtzman Trek or any Star Wars Disney has put out since season 2 of The Mandalorian. Glad to hear it's getting closer to being officially announced.
Better than Lucas's prequel crap and butchered special editions too.
If you're going to criticze Disney Star Wars is only fair to criticze Boy George who ruined Star Wars first with his special editions and then his garbage prequels.
The orville is not as good as you think
I don't really understand the delay to announce just before filming. To me that sounds like Hulu/Disney aren't 100% confident the show is actually going to happen and are reserving the option to pull out, which is worrying. Normally once a show is greenlit, you announce it. There's no reason not to. It's only positive PR for the show and for the network.
I’m told it’s simply because they didn’t know when filming was actually going to start. So holding off. I don’t really understand it either though as usually it would be announced it was ordered with vague planned schedule.
500 episodes!
I always think of 'Orville' as 'Galaxy Quest' the TV series. I'm a Seth fan for his other productions, but Seth never worked for me as a Trek captain.
It is much more accurately described as Galaxy Quest than Star Trek. Well spotted.
@amalekedomiteMaybe the first season which had much more comedy elements, but not season 2 or 3 which were much more serious.
@@ValiantWrestling IIRC part of the deal to get it produced at FOX was that Mcfarlane had to pitch it as family guy in space but live action, or thereabouts.
It was very clear he didn't want to add a lot of it into the show. But that only made it even worse, as it was just random jokes shoehorned into inappropriate situations for no reason.
FRACK YES CANT WAIT
Orville is brilliant. The parody we always wanted.
The Kind of Thoughful Scifi We reserve !!...
When The Orville went to Hulu, Hulu was already owned by Disney it was purchased with the 20th Century Fox acquisition!
One thing I think production companies need to start realizing in this streaming world where there are longer pauses between production years they need a modular set that makes breakdown and reassembly very easy. Literally largely Lego like as far as its ability to be easily disassembled and then hooked back together seamlessly. With modern filming techniques and green screen for monitors and such it would seem that this could be done much more easily than it would have been 30 years ago at the last of the really great Star Trek. Some of this concept can actually be seen in Star Trek Enterprise and they were not even worrying about tearing down and reassembling it's just that they built really great sets on Enterprise, especially as they were redressing modern technologies of the 20th century to look like they belonged to the 22nd century.
This would really help though with the idea of the cost of these stop and starts that are going on with shows like Orville because one of the main barriers to keeping good science fiction alive is always been cost and they have enough cost involved with the special effects in costuming which includes of course any alien makeup that needs to be done. Another challenge is also that children that they use are going to be getting older and then they have decided they keep them or replace them and really no one wants to lose the kids they like like the young lady who's playing Topa. And yes one of the great things about science fiction is you can set the growth rate anyway you want but it would be even better if we could watch her grow with the show. And of course the boys from the Finn family we know how humans grow so we are going to know how much time has passed and they will have to address that when they return. And that will be a challenge for the script writers to help address the amount of time gone by since the last installment. I'm not sure I agree that New riders is a good thing because I think McFarland has been doing an excellent job but as long as the tone that's been set as kept if it keeps things running smoothly and hopefully perhaps keeps us with seasons coming I'm all for it. And I'm very glad for once that Disney has actually seen the wisdom of keeping this rolling I know for them and simply a business decision but I'm glad that they're seeing that it is a profitable venture. Because of the Sci-Fi community once they find a good story will follow it to the ends of the Earth and the truth is at the moment Star Trek from the Roddenberry verse has stalled. I don't know anyone over the age of 35 who is saying anything positive about the recent installment from their corner of the Sci-Fi universe called section 31. This is what happens when writers engage in something that is the antithesis of everything that a set universe in science fiction sets out to be and then someone adds something completely it's opposite and tries to celebrate it within that universe. Hopefully mistake that the writers of Orville will never make. This program is still very young and actually is only had one small continuity era so far which may well have been a matter of not having an actress available I wasn't able to find information about that as of just joined a really good group with good access to that kind of information. But again that's the problem with long periods between seasons and Orville also got caught with the slowdown in production due to covid which they couldn't have predicted and wasn't entirely their fault of course. But hopefully this long pause part that came after that won't be a pattern again.
Every episode in season 3 was like a movie
Best news heard this week. There are some things I dislike about The Orville, it's not perfect but it's a heck of a lot better than Kurtzman Trek. Moreover, there is much more I like about the Orville than dislike!
I miss that show so much I've re watched every episode can't wait
Great presentation thanks for the info. Super excited about Stat gate and the Orvill of. I’m just waiting for it. Where did this long? Wait a little longer. Thanks for the fun until next time.
Finally something! S2 coming 2 years after S1, then S3 coming 3 years after S2 probably didn't help. It'd be nice to have this show consistently releasing new seasons. I'm in favor of Grayson becoming captain but I really liked the Mercer-Grayson relationship in the show though. I'd be ok with going back to normal length episodes and not having mini movies for every episode.
Cool. Hope to see how those kids grown and Isaac becoming a father.
Great news! I loved the 3rd season!
good evening tachyon pulse and chat
Yeah ill believe it when I see it, but before that I want season 3 and all future seasons available on dvd!
Orville needs to get its crap together and have a season every year like a real tv show
You obviously don't understand how the industry works to be making such a simpleton comment...
"Hey boss, we're having a production issue". "Well, let's get our crap together and all will be perfect with the universe!".
"Right. I'm on it."
Ya. Such an easy solution - again, with no clue about how the industry works. Or so it seems anyway...
A problem with any Trek spinoff is half the audience get off with lots of explosions and the other half get off with clever original themes that few people have considered.
Engaging party mode. Hope Adrianne comes around, and that the next 2 seasons preserve the crew dynamic that has made this such a compelling narrative. edit: holy, this man don't need an official lego enterprise D!!
Maybe you should put the Orville production company in charge of the next Star Trek series as well
I’m excited! Thank you for this good info.
Orville is a great show. Im glad its coming back. I could not even finish STD it was awful.
Don't let Jonathan Frakes hear you say that, he'll say you didn't like tng as well.
Said this years ago, if Seth can’t be bothered neither can I. Gave up on this show the second I heard he wasn’t the captain anymore. Slop is off the menu.
It’s time to do a rewatch
I didn't really get into the Orville, but it was way closer to Star Trek than anything else being made at the time or since. That's a low bar though. If Trek wasn't in such a bad state, Orville would have fallen by the way side. I would be interested in investigating the streaming numbers. To see how it did.
FUCK YEAHHHHHH THAT SHIT GOES HARD AF
I liked each season of the Orville and each one got better in my mind so this fantastic news
If it's as bad as 3 I don't want it.
5 seasons and a movie
I’m not hearing movie yet but if these seasons go well why not.
With the failure of Section 31, this is the perfect time for The Orville to come out and make far superior Trek!
When do they launch season 3 on dvd please ?
Will Ted be captain in at least one episode? Then again with a lower budget he might be too expensive.
-Budget won't be that much of an issue, since most of the budget goes towards SFX, but New Horizons was done in Unreal Engine 5, so most of the assets have already been created, it just a case of plotting and scripting SFX. Besides The Orville can pull back on SFX and rely on writing more as this has been great, which leads to...
-Writing, some episodes of Season 3 were written by others, particularly the best episode of the season, Domino which was written by Star Trek alums Brannon Braga and Andre Bormanis, I'm guessing that they may end up being more involved in the writing and maybe get some of the old band back with other writers from the good times. This would allow Seth to take that step back a little... and who knows, perhaps Skydance will do what Paramount should've done years ago and give Seth the keys to Star Trek.
-As for Disney, Disney Lucasfilm, Disney Marvel (Post Endgame), and main Disney/Disney Animation/(more recent) Pixar stuff has largely been garbage. Stuff that has been under the old 20th Century Fox umbrella, which includes The Orville has been largely good to excellent.
In Seth Trek we trust... and Praise Avis... We Try Harder.
Great news if true
Hey! AmazonMGM doesn't take their thumb out of their , well, you know, bring in 'captain' Browder! He did a great hammy Kirk, he could make it so on The Orville!
I liked The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew the fans loved Skeleton Crew. And Star Wars isn't Sci-fi it's Sci-fi/Fantasy/Western
Rock on!
Great news but how will they explain the time jump Claire's kids are going to be adults
Good this is indeed Yoda
Ted 2? Wasn't that done and released in 2015? ^_^;;
Edit: Should have googled apparently. Good God there's a Ted TV show?
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They say its come back but is it actually
Did they write out Yaphit? If not, will they commemorate Norm MacDonald in some way?
@@ServingMyJesus I am pretty sure they did something in new horizons didn’t they. A thing in the credits?? Or am I making that up?
Please tell me the difference "The Orville New Horizons" and "The Orville Episode 4"
You mean season 4?
"I'm being told."? Who's telling you? Are you an insider? Sorry, new to the channel.
Your opinion on the Orville not being as good as we think it is, either way blows current Trek out of the water for me. New Trek is an inconsistent mess with either terrible or poorly developed characters. The storylines are OK to bad. The Orville made me excited, a bit scared and sad as well. There are one of two episodes that are skippable but only one or two. Even SNW was 50/50 in episodes so far and the episodes I didn’t like were really bad to me.
When did I say it’s not as good as we think it is?
@Pulse_tachyon For some reason it would not let me respond to the vague troll, it was meant for whoever decided to say it twice. Didn't mean to accuse you of saying it.
I think Jonathan Frakes and a few other writers and producers from Star Trek TNG, DS9, Voyager, ENTERPRISE are helping Seth MacFarlane with Orville episodes.
Frakes is an enemy if old trek who attacks anyone who doesn't like NuTrek garbage.
Called DS9, "Deep Throat Nine, insulting the fans of the show, claim Star Trek fans hated TNG too.
Frakes isn't the hero you're looking for, he's an enemy of oeolle who can't stand what star trek has degenerated into.
I can't wait to view more of the historical documents!!
Finally the Original returnes.,Can't handle this cheap "Strange new worlds" Copycat ;-)
When you said Star Wars is faltering I was preparing a comment about Skeleton Crew. Skeleton Crew is my favorite Star Wars material since Mandalorian. I’m glad you see its value.
Now let’s get some Stargate too!😊
No, Stargate had its run.
SG1 overstayed its welcome, Atlantis killed off too many main characters and replaced them with boring and likeable ones.
Universe was a disaster from the beginning, tried to make it too much like BSG, too dark, too gritty forgetting what made Stargate Stargate.
Orville is better than nutrek except prodigy
Prodigy is just as garbage as the rest and should've remained cancelled.
Voyager was the worst of the first five Star Trek shows, it never got better and Janeway was the worst of Captain, not because she was a woman, because she written as a smug, arrogant unlikeable character.
Noice . Until we get a decent star trek . I.e. less ruining of time lines. Then happy days with the Orville 👍🏾
Disney these days is at its best, when it has nothing to do with it.
Prey, Deadpool and Wolverine, Andor, blue... all external, detached or blind spot productions.
The orville isnt star trek. it's dudebro stoner toilet humour on a star trek set with star trek costumes.
It often repeats and retreads plotlines featured in star trek. But without any of the intellect or philosophy that made it good.
All the characters are idiots. And its woke.
Slop.
It's more Star Trek than nuTrek. I'll gladly watch.
Hello Secret Hideout's marketing gal. You girls glow.
@ Are you honestly suggesting the only reason anyone could ever dislike "dude i smoked pot on the enterprise" is because they work for kurtzman?
Says a lot about orville fans, at least. This aint a binary choice, kiddo. I chose real Star Trek (TOS, TNG, VOY, DS9, ENT S3+) over the pretenders every single time.
@@rexmundi2986agreed. And although I never minded the humour (I can take it or leave it) I was glad when it was toned down for s2. Then we got something close (as it’s possible) to a tng or old trek show. Humour or not, the Orville is far more closer to old trek than the abominations of the 2009 movies onwards and that rot on paramount. I can’t even watch them.
@ That much is true. Which is what I think has confused a lot of people. They are grading on a curve.
Both orvilla and NuNotTrek are not real trek, for different reasons.
But at the end of the day, even though a man is starving, he shouldn't pretend mud is chocolate.
All the similarities with Trek are entirely superficial. It's all set dressing and uniforms. None of Trek's philosophy, wit, integrity, erudition, or intelligence is to be found.
I hope not. They turned the Orville into a dark drama. NO THANK YOU
