Hi,everybody it’s me Aju. Thank you for taking your time to check my story 😊🤝🏽💚 Appreciate for all the good and bad comments! Currently I don’t do TH-cam but maybe in the future?😣 idk haha This account would be my TH-cam channel. I do more instagram to share my life style vlogs and DJs and even boxing sometimes…?🔊🥳🥊 Hope you guys have a wonderful time! Much love 🩷🙏🏽🤝🏽
Hello there. Hopefully you saw the Australian guy Z above, assuming it was a good encounter. As a father of a couple of adult children, it did sadden me to hear some of your history. I'm sure you'll hear this a lot in these comments, but I hope you find the acceptance and community you desire. Good luck.
No way!!! Is that Aju? One of the kindest Japanese woman I have met during my travels in Japan. I met her last year at Weerasakrack Muay Thai gym in Tokyo, September 2023 during our Muay Thai training session and she acted as a translator for me to a tradesperson working at the gym which then led onto having a really great unforgettable conversation with her before I had to dash to DisneySea. I was thinking about her before TH-cam algorithm recommended me this videos and instantly recognised her on the thumbnail. If you're are reading this Aju, many greetings from your Australian friend, Z
@@vortexnutwhaleThey may be, but even if they are you're only making your self look like a jack ass. She's definitely pretty, regardless of anything else.
@@vortexnutwhalewith your name and all your other negative comments leads one to speculate on whether you are simply just jealous that this girl is absolutely gorgeous and carries herself with grace , is nice and seems like a fun person to be around. And before you start in with your "simp" stuff again I am an old heterosexual female that is comfortable enough in my own femininity to acknowledge another womans' beauty instead of trying to tear someone else down to try to make myself feel better because they have things that I lack. With your input here along with your other remarks in the comments section of just this video you painted such a clear and vivid portrait of envy that all the green is used up. Try to add some colors of kindness, compassion, empathy etc. into your life, if not for those interact with you at least do it for yourself. I don't know if this is how you are normally, if you're going through a rough time or just having a bad day, but I sincerely hope you feel happier soon. I will pray for you and if you just need to talk to someone and vent about something in your life but don't feel comfortable talking to someone you know, I'm a stranger that would be willing to listen. I understand you will be upset for being called out for your bad behavior. The young lady in this video will probably read all the comments and this is your chance to offer an apology and maybe an explanation. And like I said, if you need someone to vent to, I am willing to listen.
My wife is half Japanese on her mother's side. Her parents were married in Japan and nobody would rent them an apartment so they lived her mother's parents. They were often refused service at restaurants. They eventually moved to the US. This was the early 60's and it must be much better now.
I’m a man and the first thing that came to mind when I heard her say she’s never dated, was she needs to relocate. As beautiful as she is, she’s not benefiting by staying where she’s at. I hope that this girl has the ability to travel the world, so she can move past this stigma she’s stuck in. She’s so forgiving and understanding towards the constant harassment she’s endured, and clearly she’s adapted some good life skills that are influenced of decorum and huge respect towards others.
Was thinking the same. Most Japanese men prefer to date Asian women and most foreigners are there to hunt for Japanese women and live out their Hentai fantasies
I completely agree with your sentiment. She appears to be well-educated and cultured. There are open minds everywhere, but Japanese culture might not foster inclusivity when it comes to ethnic diversity. I hope she is able to prosper and to transcend her culture’s tradition of somewhat closed-mindedness.
The suggestion for her to be able to travel had nothing to do with her being hit on by men. It was for her to be able to go and experience how much bigger the world is than the one she’s stuck in currently. I mean no disrespect towards anyone, but no girl should ever feel ignored like she’s feeling or have to hear these negative condescending ignorant comments she has no control over. It’s unfair that she has to feel like this when clearly she’s so kind towards people and able to smile while out in public. People having to go through such harsh criticism often seem to have a negative effect with interaction skills especially in public.
She broke my heart when she said she has never been in a relationship 😢 She is such a pretty girl with a great heart. Thank you for doing this interview and giving her a platform to express her feelings ❤
Why break a heart over something that millions of people experience? That's life in an Evolutionary society that tells you your ancestors were pond scum.
As anothe half Japanese raised in Japan, I never ever want to move back. It was hard watching this, but thank you for filming and being so vulnerable! Loved the video.
I feel like you didn't watch the video. This poster is also half. They are not treated well or accepted in Japan. And I can say from observation that it's particularly bad for people who are half African descent. Racism is real, but in Japan it's culturally accepted@@jadenquest9544
I was really surprised to hear that your dad is from the Bahamas. I live in Morocco and I am also from the Bahamas. Because the population of the Bahamas is so small, it is unusual to find Bahamians in other countries. You really made my day, Best wishes to you and your family.
How can ppl think she’s NOT Japanese??? She has the distinct mannerisms that only come from being born & raised in Japan & she’s adorable when she covers her smile with her hand. Classic Japanese habit. ❤😊
Because SHE´S NOT. Not African and not Japanese. It´s a MIX. Nothing wrong with that. A Chinese person can´t be Japanese too. Not even after 80 years living in Japan.. 95% of all countries on the planet are like that. Totally NORMAL. You cant change your ethnicity. it´s not possible. USA, Canada and Australia dont count as a Country because ALL of them are foreigner. They suppressed all the natives there. And west Europe are suffering the same right now. MORE people of color (like ME) and less Natives. I suffering the same issue. I´m Portuguese but born and raise in Germany. But i will NEVER be a German. That´s not possible. And i never went to Portugal. And i have 0 Portuguese friends. Imagine being on another planet and force Aliens to be accepted as one of them. That´s not possible. We all have the same Value but we are not the same. And it´s not a bad thing...
she got arm tatts...and looks like an aggressive lady.......Japanese are the most conservative people on earth.....they make bible belt usa look like belligerent rock and rollers.....lol.....
Let me say this there are days like this in the video where you smile it away and deal with it because it's pretty normal but there are also days where you won't have to tell everybody your life story and just wanna be treated like everybody else
They are not "rejecting" her, in this video, they just assume that she comes from outside Japan. I'm not saying that racism or doesn't exist in Japan like anywhere else; But, unless it's motivated by hatred, asking where you come from or what your origins are isn't racism, it's curiosity. People do that with me all the time because of my first and last name. Is it annoying? Not for me, as people getting interested in me is better than people ignoring me. I also ask others what their origins are, it's a good conversation starter. The girl may be very nice, but she is full of tatoos and shey's got the look to squat in front of a combini. She isn't doing her best to get Japanese people spontaneously coming to talk to her.
Let me be honest, it’s so normal for me that I don’t see it as problem 😂 I don’t even care cuz I have my amazing people around me and I find peace in me so I have no problems at all😊💚 That’s why I’m smiling in the video obviously😂😬
AAAAA SHES GENUINELY SO STUNNING!!! Her smile is so genuine and her laugh makes you wanna witness it more. I hope someone can see her heart truly and entirely with nothing but pure love!!!
She looks so badass like she wouldn’t take shit from anyone but then when you see her talk and her actions she’s really shy, like on 6:04 when she’s blushing because they are clapping for her. She’s so precious! ❤️
"she looks so badass like she wouldn't take shit from anyone" typical black woman behavior, she is indeed strong we command that, Gorila levels of strong if left unchecked
I have lived and worked in Japan off and on most of my adult life. I dont see a lot of problems, but i am not mixed as well. One story does stick in my mind though. I was on a train from Yokosuka to Shinagawa several years back. Two older Japanese ladies sat across from a friend and I most of the trip. I speak Japanese but they didnt know that (I am white, typical looking American). Most of the way they were saying things like we were dirty foreigners and we shouldnt be here and things of that nature. Just rude things from people that think they are the only ones that know what they are talking about around foreign people. As we were getting off I spoke in very polite Japanese to them and Said " In the future you may want to keep your voices down because you never know who may be listening. I hope you have a pleasant day". Both of them turned ghost white, got up and went to the back of the train. My friend asked what I said, and I told him as we got off. It was pretty amazing.
Good for you for still being respectful. It’s hard to be respectful in those moments. I remember I was in England and my dad over heard an English woman talking to her child. The child was complaining about being on a train and the English said “will in America they have boogies and carts” she wasn’t making a joke and looked quite serious. My dad who isn’t even American lol, went up and told that person to not spread lies about other countries like that. It’s strange, it happens everywhere.
@elizabethrose6943 No offence whatsoever. Your experience was typical of Western European attitudes to America (not just Britian). It exists for many reasons. Some of it is jealousy, but also because of perception of American ignorance, and that you lack culture and refinement. It may also help to understand that Western Europe is often shocked and appalled, by issues you have gun control and abortion which we have long moved on from. Trump has made this worse, and Andy Europe has to America is probably less than it has ever been. I have family in New England (half sister is American/british), and know you should not be defined like this. My experience is that you are some the kindest and particularly the most hospitable people I have met in the world. I have experienced this from both sides of your political spectrum. I have been told by many friends, and it is my experience to that Britian is one of those culturally and ethnically accepting nations on earth. It wasn’t even a thing for example, that a recent PM was of Asian origin. What you experienced was a unique attitude towards Americans, which is driven by some jealousy, and superiority complex based on simplified stereotype.
She's gorgeous - to be honest: she looks like a Hawaiian princess to me! She might get along with the Hawaiians much better, plus there are a lot of Japanese people also, so she has both cultures in one place.....😉💜✌️
Same in Australia, I'm mixed, Indigenous Father, European Australian Mother. Not really accepted by either side. I was raised by my father's mother, speak Erubam Le Mir, TSI Kreole and Aussie English. Struggled with acceptance during my childhood, teenage years and 20's, early 30's I was like far kit...I'm me and require acceptance from no one. 😊
The young woman, who looks more Japanese than the other, is asked where she's from while the other is complimented on her ability to speak the Japanese language. Wow!
@@絶望ガール-v3s I never assume anything about someone’s nationality based on appearance. Not something you can base on looks. Exactly why I would never have a child in a mono-ethnic society.
Don2846 She didn’t handle any situation the poor girl was sad and disappointed with all Japanese idiotic racism Hope she can meet a guy who loves her for what she is because she seems to be a kind and good hearted person ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am mixed 1/2 Japanese as well. From what I remember from spending 1 year in Japan in 1981-82 was that the Japanese associate anyone tattooed with the Yakuza. I met and had friends who were Yakuza in Obihiro so learned a little about the culture surrounding that way of life. I wish you the best in your search for happiness 🙏
Even in 2017, when I stayed at a hotel that had a hotspring in it, it specifically had a rule about no one with tattoos being allowed in. My guess it was for the same reason and I wondered if a foreigner walked in with tattoos if they would say anything.
@@roseiswine8294actually black ppl don’t glamorize it either . That’s another stereotype and someone on the outside looking in. Listening to hip hop will make you think that but black ppl don’t even like that shit but some are forced to live that life! Now that’s facts!! Hell some black people won’t even associate with you if you living like that. Your comment was very racist and prejudice.
Ye, I agree People in Moscow thought I'm Chinese or Japanese and started talking to me in kind of those languages (Just Nihao, Konnichiwa and etc basic words) or looking at me as if I'm "exotic". Felt kind of weird, since I can speak Russian and spent whole life in this country, just native of one of the republics
She is such a kind hearted woman and appears to be so caring and it's sad to hear what she's gone through and still goes through I'm sure there are plenty of good men interested in her (Myself included) That would love to be in a relationship with her. Keep both of your heads up and know that nothing is impossible when you have brains, beauty, and the heart that both of you have. 💯
She is an absolute gem! Perfect mix of culture and understanding. You can tell there is a softness and a savage in her grit. May she blossom well and find her place in this world, on instinct.
You know I am Japanese living in the US for more than 50yrs and at first I tried to become like them to fit in but it was just not going to happen so I learned to accept who I am and be myself. if you are confident in who you are and love yourself most of all ppl around you will accept you as well...praying for you and best wish!!!!! :))
Same here Sir! I'm not japanese and I'm living here in Japan for more than 15 years, and become like them was not going to happen too. I always think stay who you are, and don't mind those people. The important thing is that you can communicate with them properly thats it.❤
Not always. You can love yourself, be confident and still feel a sadness/deep void because the people /place you live in just isn't warm and welcoming. As humans we need to feel connection with thise around us.. ..our systems are made to connect.
@@reenasat I wonder though, is it not that you must also be open to loving others, too? One can love themselves while not feeling so much draw or love for other humans - feeling wary and guarded (which does occur for understandable reasons in some cases) towards them. We are social beings but we are also socialized in many ways which stymie our own inclinations towards one another. And we don't always even pay attention to this fact of life, just keep our noses to the grindstones and our heads down and keep going on about our 'normatives' and usuals.
I’m Bangali American and I love going to the Midwest and talking to old whites. Sometimes they are a little uncomfortable, but rarely are they bad people who actually hate you. They may have even wrong assumptions and ideas ingrained in them, but you just like them are a product of your environment. Talking and having the confidence to over look their ideas will make a positive impact, instead of feeling less than and offended
As a half japanese i TOTALLY understand, agree and feel you 😂 I wasn't born here but I've lived in the island 60% of my life! let's be tomodachis Aju ✌️
Greetings to Aju! I haven't been in Japan since 1983, but what caught me off guard is when I was in Tokyo (back then) and saw signs at the entrance of some clubs (or bars) that said "Japanese Only". I can't imagine what you went through being raised there, but I hope the day can come when we can focus on what we have in common than what makes us different. You're beautiful! Keep your head up and stay strong. Loved the video!
Hi Aju! I am from The Bahamas and I just want to say that I am sorry you experience the things that you do in Japan, a country where you were born and raised! You are a very beautiful person and I hope that one day you find true true love...even if you have to come to The Bahamas to find it! :)
I can relate a lot to her. I am mixed, korean & African American. Growing up Caucasians kept me at arms length, they were always friendly but none really ever approached on their own. African Americans would keep their distance as well & look at me funny. As I’ve grown up in a mostly Korean-American household, I have had several people come up to me & said that “you don’t act like us” or “you don’t act black”. Which I have never liked that because why would you have to act a certain way just cause of your skin tone, I just act as myself. Finally, when it comes to Koreans, I can’t speak Korean but I have learned how to translate. Koreans did not want to interact with me at all & just saw me as this “black person” and that made me incredibly sad growing up. I could understand them & hear them talking about me, how they were cautious of me & say keep an eye on me whenever I was in a store. It was only if I went with my Korean American mother or Korean grandmother who can speak Korean, they would speak in Korean with the clerks & employees. After introducing me then they would be like “Oh, so she’s your daughter/grand daughter? She’s Korean too?”. A few would remember me afterwards, & be friendly with me whenever I stopped by, others either didn’t remember or didn’t care and treated me the same as before. I still experience all these types of interactions from all races to this day. I only have a few friends but they treat me like me & see me for me, I also have a loving husband now that embraces my culture. I have come to just ignore the negative situations now, & continue to surround myself with people that love & cherish me deeply.
@@MegaHzz sorry if using the word “Caucasian” offended you in any way. I use that word cause i refuse to call Caucasian’s “white people”, just as I also refuse to call people of darker skin “black people”. I have been hurt by others being called so, so I do my best not to hurt others in the same ways as they have hurt me and to be as respectful as I can. Again, sorry if my use of the word has offended you or any others. I was moved by this wonderful lady’s story and wanted to share my own. Best of wishes to all.
If I was a younger, single man in Japan and I encountered this woman I would like to think I would have the courage to ask this woman out. She is simply gorgeous and has a life story to tell. May she find love some time soon. Both she and the other will benefit from the experience.
to be fair, if i met her, I thought she liked girls because of her tom-boy appearance. I wouldn't even approach even though she's cute because I would think there's no point.
I've messed around with Kendamas a bit and can say those were some nice moves she did in front of the store after buying it... She definitely level 5!😊👏🏾
I would imagine it is probably somewhat easier for those who are Japanese-White mixed and especially Japanese mixed with some other Asian ethnicity. Being Japanese-Black probably makes you stand out the most due to the darker skin. Add the tattoos to that equation, which tend to be less accepted in Japan than it most other countries due to their association with Yakuza and criminal activities, and it seems like a recipe for the loneliness she feels. As much as she loves Japan, she might be happier somewhere like Hawaii, where there is both a fairly large Japanese community (16% of the population), and where she would fit in better with native Hawaiians due to the mix of Japanese and Black looking somewhat Polynesian.
as long as you're Japanese passing you're okay, not necessarily white mixed, some latin american - japanese can pass off their strict standards cuz they think they're tanned and from Okinawa, but indeed black is always seen as below every mix. I'm from Mexico and black mexicans struggle in some areas, especially in areas dominated by light skinned or white mexicans, add to that the recent migration from Haitians, some racists white apologists have started to demonize anyone looking black, this ppl are fans of Trump supporters ideologies and pissed off we now elected a jewish woman as the next President, so they will take any chance to put the propaganda wagon into action
@@sarahbrown3938 she is dark, Japanese people are white some even whiten their skin further. A tanned Japanese person wouldn't quite reach her tone either, nothing is wrong with her skin it's just obviously darker than theirs.
@@kellen7425 Not a lot of diversity in ethnic background in Japan so not a lot of people know how to handle that due to societal norms and expectations for fitting in with the group and not standing out too much. Its not necessarily that every single person tries to be actively mean, its more ignorance and lack of diversity education in a place lacking diversity--just like how many Japanese people in the country may not have an understanding of disability. Notice how the people in the video were surprised she even spoke the language or had a culturally-relatable background. I'm sure there are plenty of mean people though, as there are in the U.S. The whole stigma around tattoos in certain parts of Japan doesn't help much either.
I would lean more towards Prejudice more then Racism. Like they said... Japan is "98% ethnically the same" so they don't come across us as often(mostly Tourist), so their only view of how we are comes from really bad examples/propaganda from Hip Hop and popular culture in the US. White people have more of positive depicted in popular culture and TV which probably contributes to how the Japanese will approach a Caucasian foreigner vs a African American or a Mixed Race Japanese Native.
@@lilrizqwell yes prejudice but you may have seen a few Japanese comments on here asking her what's here other part breed if it was a dog? Is that also still prejudice? Point is, they are a modern country, they have a heavy American influence, they have that exposure and all they need to know, so we can't say it's because they are predominantly this or that so a racial attitude is excused as mere prejudice.
@@lilrizq I don't know how you could possibly say that. White people are constantly depicted as evil and corrupt on TV shows and especially in pop culture. Black people are depicted as the greatest beings ever to walk the Earth. Japanese people don't live in the Amazon jungle with no contact of any kinds of civilization. They're intelligent people with access to the real world and know for a fact that Black people, more than any other race, are constantly committing violence and/or accusing anyone that doesn't treat them as special beings, as racist.
@@senadirect Japanese people don't have to justify the way they think in Japan. Japan is for Japanese people and they have every right to keep it that way. Imagine going to some primitive tribe in the middle of the Amazon jungle and complaining to them about their culture and that they should accept your way of doing things. Maybe cut down all those trees and build a McDonald's and a Walmart in the jungle....
So the white woman is not questioned when speaking Japanese but Aju, who looks Japanese with a beautiful twist is? And they lose their minds when Aju speaks but to me she looks extremely Japanese. The little bit of Black she has turns them off but blond and pale white is no problem. Please help me make sense of this. She lived her entire life being rejected it’s normal. Glad she will travel soon. She is a beautiful young lady.
I think some of these people have already met Pearl though. More whites go to Japan, and from what I can tell there's not as many blacks that learn Japanese. Where I'm from at least, blacks kind of have had to hide it if they're into Japanese culture or anime. It's seen as nerdy/white by other black people. It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be though. But I'd say confederate flag waving rednecks came around to Japanese stuff sooner than blacks.
Because Japanese people view black people more the same way racist white people would. Even though in Japan xenofobia counts for every foreigner, white people are more favored and therefore often treated less badly than poc foreigners. It also has to do with the beauty standard that favors white skin over darker skin.
I am so glad I am not the only one who caught that Even at the beginning when they were at the shop . The Japanese woman was looking at Aju when she was looking at the bag . I pay attention to people's body language And I think it is so sad and sick that people put someone up on a pedestal . Who's the complete opposite of you . Rather than someone who is closer genetically to you just because they are part black
Aju seems adorable, I hope when she’s ready she meets someone who loves her for her as she’s awesome, she’s so pretty, well mannered and seems like she has a positive outlook on life, I bet she’d be a great person to hang out with x
Been to japan for the first time last month. I was traveling solo and got a kind of gaijin blues. People would avoid sitting next to me on trains or in a public bath. I've been studying japanese for a while now and can hold my own in basic conversation or interacting with store clerks, but I've experienced people not realizing I was talking in japanese and replying back in broken english. I can only imagine what that has to be like when you are native and lived there your whole life. Also, Aju seems like a wonderful person. Don't let it get to you, Aju.
Tokyo is also a lot less friendly than other places in Japan. Usually the biggest landing city in a country is where the meanest people are ton foreigners (London, Paris, New York City), or to people in general. It’s usually the most fast paced place with grumpy overworked people who feel they pay way too much for things compared to the rest of their country, and they resent the tourists because they believe the tourists are the reason why everything is “tourist prices,” and for crowding their public events and public resources. There are nice people in Tokyo, but you’re also more likely to run into people who just have a bad attitude, even for a polite society like Japan’s. Generally, people get a friendlier welcome in places like Kyoto, Osaka, Sapporo, and other major Japanese cities outside of Tokyo. You can visit some of the shrines and check out the fox forest and cat island, go on a sleep capsule overnight train. They’re generally friendlier in settings further away from the main hub of Tokyo. So many travelers have talked about this on youtube, definitely worth taking a look at some of what they have to say on this topic.
Also, as for replying in English, try not to take it too personally. I can definitely understand how that would be frustrating for a Japanese person who was born and raised there, and I really hope that Japan starts to recognize their interracial minorities a little more. However, for most tourists, when they reply in English, they’re not doing this to insult you, they actually believe they are doing you a kindness and a favor. Try to keep in mind that probably a majority of the tourists they see every year don’t speak Japanese at all or only speak very little, but by contrast, Japanese people have been speaking their “broken English” for decades as part of their job serving tourists. They believe they’re giving you good customer service and trying to be respectful. Try not too get too sad or take offense at someone doing something with good intentions, they’re just trying to do their job. When Japanese people first moved to western countries as immigrants, hotels and restaurants and even some trains absolutely refused to serve them at all and would leave signs out saying “no [expletive slur for Asian people]” for business. Just a little perspective. It could be a lot worse, and the Japanese people speaking English to you are just trying to meet you halfway and they mean well.
I think that broken English Japanese speaks is better than your broken Japanese for communicating each other. If you want to talk them in Japanese, I recommend "Nihongo de oneguy simath" that means "Speak J please.".
@@kathleencove Yeah, that's true. I actually went partly to practice my japanese after learning for 3 years, so it was a little disheartening at first. I think If people asked me in my country in my native language I might do the same unintuitively. I eventually had some nice conversations in japanese after all in some bars in Osaka.
It's mostly the tats they hold a cultural stigma in Japan due to the Yakuza then there is the double wammi of looking like A Foreigner and not Native Japanese
Shaming people who want to keep their culture and not become like the western world is not a good thing. Why do progressives want every country to be the same melting pot?

The world has a problem of thinking their perception of the world is the only way the world works. We as humans would be so much better off being more humble and work on expecting the unexpected. We know so little yet think we know the world so when something or someone “different” comes around, it surprises us. When in reality, this is normal existence, we have just been small minded. This young woman is so charming, smart, and beautiful! Watching this video I felt my muscles tighten as if I didn’t want to take up space in the world. Like I wanted to get out of the way. I’m not sure if that’s because she was feeling that way or I’m projecting how I may feel if I were in her situation. But I hope she gets an opportunity soon to fully be her incredible, intelligent, and beautiful self. I hope she has or finds a group of people who accept and embrace her and finds a place where she feels she belongs. Wherever that is, they will be lucky to have her!
Being half Japanese/half Samoan, born & raised in Australia...i get it But im blessed to have 2 cultures,3 language upbringing & im totally proud of it! We get all this uncertainty from all sides, from every background. I got it badly in the U.S,making fun in my face, but that ignorance is on them, not me. Dont blame a country as a whole for a few arroant people. Everywhere in the world is like that.
I think Australia has far more mixed race people than Japan so it is slightly different in countries where more exist. There’s still ignorance everywhere though. If she came to London she would be batting the men away so much it would be annoying for her 😂😂😂😂
Fascinating, touching, and charming. More power to you, Aju! This reminds me of an anecdote I heard from an American friend of mine. Husband Austrian, business took them to Japan for ten years. Their two sons were born and raised there, and naturally spoke fluent Japanese. The family returned to Austria, and one evening were watching a puppet show here in Vienna, with an audience of mostly Japanese tourists, including children. My friend's sons were bored and started telling dirty jokes in Japanese. The tourist's children in the audience were amazed and called their parents' attention to the white boys speaking Japanese. And the parents _couldn't hear that they were speaking Japanese._ Only their children noticed. Well done. Cheers from rainy Vienna, Scott

She is pure and I love that about her. I can assume the feeling of not being asked out. As an Israelite by faith who may not fit into the “culture” whether Caucasian to “black/african Americans”, I can relate. Thank you for sharing her story!
She has such beautiful hair and a beautiful personality. You're so kind to her! Some of this is sad yet some of this is promising and happy. This one was hard to watch at times. And I'm glad you're so sweet to her.
"This one was hard to watch at times." Are you from USA by any chance? An exception to the rule of how a nation is build? A homogenous ethnic group is foundation of any healthy society. Can you have racism when everyone is the same? No. Can you have cultural clashes inside homogenous society? No.
@@sitarnut Are we talking about future of Japan still being Japan, or are we going to throw it into trash bin for the sake of few not 100% Japanese people? Westerners have big dificulties with thinking. The world is not USA. Japan's history dates back to 12 000 BC. It's not an artificial western hemisphere state founded in late 18 century.
Honestly, she is so gorgeous and she has a charming personality. I hope she will not let anyone bring her down and stays happy because she is perfect the way she is:)
OMG she is so beautiful! I hate to hear that this has been her experience. I hope and pray that she will have the experience of having someone truly love her and see her! She is such a value to us in this world and has so much to offer it. I can only imagine how she’s felt, but I hope she knows that she is seen and heard here by many.
I’ve been following your channel for a while now, and I love it ❤❤❤❤❤ How you present different situations in Japan that you take me into your heart of Japanese life, truly beautiful. Thank you so much ❤
I see so many comments where people are sad for this girl that she hasn’t been in a relationship. I’m not. She’s unique and seems like a good soul. If the people around her can’t fully appreciate her, thank goodness she hasn’t been in a relationship just to have somebody or for fear of missing out. Maybe her demeanor is still so pleasant because it hasn’t been tarnished by the damage of a bad relationship with someone who can’t truly see your shine or looks down on you. I wish we all had more of that discernment to choose to be ourselves and be ok with not dating if we can’t find suitable matches. I do hope she’ll end up somewhere where she’ll still stand out but it will be in a completely different way.
Thank you so much, Oriental Pearl, for giving these folks the space to tell their authentic stories. I think it's helpful for us foreigners to understand their struggles and triumphs & I bet it's a great level of catharsis for them! Please keep it up!
It is sad that people who are of color and/ or biracial experience the assumptions of others, the ignorance of some people, jealousy, and/or hatred! I am a Black American Christian in the USA, who have biracial family members. I admire this young woman, who does not sink to the low level of thinking. God teaches us to love one another because at the end of our lives we have to know that we did the right things in life, loving our neighbor as ourselves.😊😊😊 Thank you for educating people and keep your head up! Keep that sweet spirit.
Not just people "of color" anyone who isn't 100% Japanese, not all, but mostly has this kind of experience. A half Czech (European) & half Japanese, now a politician in Czech was being treated the same as this woman when he was kid in Japan. I believe this will no longer be norm, i'm Nikkei & hāfu myself so i can understand both sides perspective. Personally i also want Japan to keep being Japanese, but i agree that it's a sin to judge other people solely by their race or ethnicity alone. God bless.
I think she's incredible and her vibes are great. I'd enjoy learning more about her experiences. Those Kendama skills of her's were absolutely incredible! She even taught Anming how to do it. I can only imagine how much practise that would take to learn that. People could learn a thing or two from her. I'll definitely be checking out her Instagram 💜
I'm mixed as well. Half German/half Thai born and raised in Germany. I look Thai, but don't feel like one. I only identify myself as a German, but to a lot of people I'm asian.
She sounds like she has spent a lot of time in America not just with her accent but also her energy and style. That would not go down wellin Japanese culture.
I'm from the England and my wife is Japanese. Our daughter was born and raised in Nagoya but fate would have it she looks completely English, hardly asian looking at all. When I pick her up from school, kids and parents often refer to her as 'Gaikokujin' (foreigner) and I tell them them she was born in the hospital down the road and has lived here all her life. My daughter knows she looks different but doesn't really understand why they say that about her. She gets embarrassed a lot because in reality, after living in Japan for all 6 years of her life, she's way more Japanese than English. But for some reason, if you don't look Japanese, you will always be seen as a foreigner in Japan.
@@larryc1616 Disagree. Never surprised when black, asian, middle eastern people speak English with an English accent. In the big cities, a large percentage of the population are non-white, it's completely normal here.
(0:36) That word is pronounced "baha-me-an" (or "baha-may-knee-an" in English). The name "Bahamas" is Spanish. Columbus referred to them as the "low tide" (baja mar) islands because their geography is tricky for ships. If you drop anchor at the wrong place, you'll run out of chain and the anchor will be lost--a massive and expensive problem for ships. You need enough water not to get stuck but not too much. For Columbus and his men, the Bahamanian islands had only three spots they could safely drop anchor. Thus the name of the archipelago.
Your wrong its Ba-hay-me-an. Are you Bahamian? Please remember her father is Bahamian and how we pronounce certain words are wildly different from other English speakers. If you are wondering if I am also Bahamian. Yes I am.😊
How you gonna tell her how to say where she's from? 😂 That's how we say "Bahamian". The etymology is interesting though, I didn't know that's where it came from
Great channel. I was so close to visiting Japan at one point. I had experience with modeling and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity to visit Asia. Best of luck on your travels
I'm American and my wife is Chinese although she changed her citizenship to Japanese. Our daughter is legally Japanese and American. We sent her to an international school and sadly she was discriminated against by the Western teachers expecting a higher standard from her because of me. (Japanese got better presentation grades despite their English being poor). My daughter has basically dropped out of school at this point.
In Korea, even when people are fluent in Korean but look non-native, people use broken English to talk to them. It seems like Koreans who do this are excited about an opportunity to practice the speaking English or they see it as a way to connect with a foreigner or they see it as being considerate.
Same thing happens in Latin America. My mother is german and japanese but born and raised in Costa Rica. She is completely fluent in Spanish, but Spanish speakers will speak broken English to her even though she speaks perfect Spanish to them.
My son-in-law and his two brothers could not inherit anything in Japan from their father because their births in Australia were not registered in Japan. Less of an issue was their mixed race. Each of the three brothers look more or less Japanese. My son-in-law looks Japanese whilst one brother looks Eurasian and another looks like he comes from a Mediterranean country. Luckily, there are over 300 ethnicities in Australia and mixed race children are common so, there are very few issues.
Amazing video. And Aju is equally amazing. I'm American of Mexican descent, and recently discovered I'm 4th generation Okinawan on my paternal side. Apparently my great-grandfather and his brother emigrated to Mexico in the early 1900s as contract workers in Northern Mexico. I love watching your videos, especially clips such as these about bi-racial folks in Japan. Keep them coming!!!
This beautiful young woman’s story is heartbreaking! I can’t imagine living in a place where a wide majority of the population refuses to recognize you as a person or embrace your gifts!
I am from New Zealand and spent a good portion of my 20s in Japan. I can understand and speak Japanese. I recall many a time being spoken about behind my back or even directly in front of me when people thought I wouldn't understand. I took great pleasure in turning and saying something back in Japanese. The look on their faces. I remember a father explaining to his child that I was like the "one we saw in the zoo"...
Aside from her skin color, she wears dreadlocks and tattoos in a fashion that is extremely rare in Japan. This in itself is a personal freedom and there is nothing wrong with it. On the other hand, it is strange to ask people around you to see you as normal when you have chosen to dress in a way that is not seen as normal. In fact, she seems to value her roots and individuality more than she wants to be seen as one of the ordinary Japanese girl, so it is none of your business to worry about her not being seen as Japanese.
I like when you feel enough confidence to speak Japanese. Sometimes people saying that "True spirit never die"! I think You are a true spirit! Good luck in the future! Mike from Sweden.
Arabs think nothing of women wearing niqabs, but there are those in the U.S. who may be leery of people wearing niqabs. Similarly, Americans don't think anything of women with full tattoos, but there are people in Japan who are wary of them.

I met her last year at Weerasakrack Muay Thai gym in Tokyo, September 2023 during our Muay Thai training session and she acted as a translator for me to a tradesperson working at the gym which then led onto having a really great unforgettable conversation with her before I had to dash to DisneySea. My wife is half Japanese on her mother's side. Her parents were married in Japan and nobody would rent them an apartment so they lived her mother's parents. They were often refused service at restaurants. They eventually moved to the US. This was the early 60's and it must be much better now.
So ignorant.
I hope it so much better.
Most Japanese men prefer to date Asian women and most foreigners are there to hunt for Japanese women and live out their Hentai fantasies
why did you add the part dating ?
I completely agree with your sentiment. She appears to be well-educated and cultured. There are open minds everywhere, but Japanese culture might not foster inclusivity when it comes to ethnic diversity.
I hope she is able to prosper and to transcend her culture’s tradition of somewhat closed-mindedness.
It would probably be so overwhelming for her in a place like New York where she’d get hit on constantly.
If anything, that makes her more Japanese, not less.
Why break a heart over something that millions of people experience? That's life in an Evolutionary society that tells you your ancestors were pond scum.
That only makes her even more Japanese to be honest
She is gay though

Because SHE´S NOT. Not African and not Japanese. It´s a MIX. Nothing wrong with that. A Chinese person can´t be Japanese too. Not even after 80 years living in Japan.. 95% of all countries on the planet are like that. Totally NORMAL. You cant change your ethnicity. it´s not possible. USA, Canada and Australia dont count as a Country because ALL of them are foreigner. They suppressed all the natives there. And west Europe are suffering the same right now. MORE people of color (like ME) and less Natives.

Let me be honest, it’s so normal for me that I don’t see it as problem 😂

No offense if you’re British.
Well done being the bigger person.

@elizabethrose6943
No offence whatsoever.

Korean and black. If you can say Caucasian you can say black. There's more than just "Caucasian".

I said the same thing. Whonever captures her will be a lucky man.
to be fair, if i met her, I thought she liked girls because of her tom-boy appearance. I wouldn't even approach even though she's cute because I would think there's no point.
She probably does get asked out just not from who she wants...

I've messed around with Kendamas a bit and can say those were some nice moves she did in front of the store after buying it... She definitely level 5!😊👏🏾
I was impressed. I could barely play at all.
Totally agree!
as long as you're Japanese passing you're okay, not necessarily white mixed, some latin american - japanese can pass off their strict standards cuz they think they're tanned and from Okinawa, but indeed black is always seen as below every mix.
And those cultures are accepting of tattoos!!
Bt she doesn’t have dark skin her skin is literally the same color as them she is far from a brown color
@@sarahbrown3938 she is dark, Japanese people are white some even whiten their skin further. A tanned Japanese person wouldn't quite reach her tone either, nothing is wrong with her skin it's just obviously darker than theirs.

Closed mindedness of islanders.
The whole stigma around tattoos in certain parts of Japan doesn't help much either.
lmao, you need a "video" to learn some common sense? unbelievable
Racism is everywhere & that sucks! She’s so beautiful and smart & sweet.
Stop spreading the lie of racism , no one has the responsibility to accept who you are.

Her honesty is very appealing - I hope Aju meets the right person and has a wonderful life, Thanks for the cool video
If you want to talk them in Japanese,
I recommend "Nihongo de oneguy simath" that means "Speak J please.".

I took great pleasure in turning and saying something back in Japanese. The look on their faces. I remember a father explaining to his child that I was like the "one we saw in the zoo"...
I am sorry people were such racists fs. You matter and deserve respect and a great life!
How many ?
Maybe I'm just being too optimistic, but perhaps they meant they saw a New Zealand local at the zoo who looks like you?
Wow.
Are you mixed though?
Thank you for this presentation . May God keep this young lady stronger than ever before .
If someone would talk to me in English if I could speak perfect Japanese I would just continue in Japanese.....🤨
And that is the content why I don't unsubscribe. Together with the stories about the homeless in japan. Thank your for this kind of video.
Hey, Bahamian here. Didn't know we got all the way over there back in the day. Cool stuff to be honest
She'd be more accepted at home in The Bahamas 🇧🇸 too.
I’m half Bahamian here too
Aside from her skin color, she wears dreadlocks and tattoos in a fashion that is extremely rare in Japan.
You are racist
that’s her natural hair bru
I like when you feel enough confidence to speak Japanese.
Sometimes people saying that "True spirit never die"!
I think You are a true spirit!
Good luck in the future!
Mike from Sweden.
My favorite interaction so far. Wishing good things for both of you😊
Why would someone be intimidated by her she is stunning 1:05
Racisim
She also has a strong nonfeminine vibe
she also has a lot of tattoos, and many Japanese people associate them with Yakuza.
Arabs think nothing of women wearing niqabs, but there are those in the U.S. who may be leery of people wearing niqabs.
Similarly, Americans don't think anything of women with full tattoos, but there are people in Japan who are wary of them.
