Good work Alyssa. For the cruel people in the comments: Poverty is a societal choice not a law of nature. There has been enough wealth and resources to give every human on the planet a dignified life for decades now. Those who make the cruel comments are the very people that cause others to live in poverty.

Japan's welfare system helps these people off the streets and they will be supported to find apartments and offered monthly living fee by governments. All they have to do is to turn up at town/city offices and ask for help. If they don't have an address, they will help to get one. There are rules and procedures to follow, but that's it. It is very very tolerant. Homeless people wouldn't be arrested or thrown away on the streets. when they turn up , or carriedt o hospitals. Therea re hospitals to give medical treatments to these homeless people without any payment. At any office, there are staffs to help them to receive these supports.
I hope you and they(homeless people) will find out facts and ways to live better/healthier, sanitary safer lives.

In 1999, I was a French expat in Ireland and was homeless for 2.5 months. I slept outside four a couple of nights. The rest of the time, I was staying in a guest house. But finding food was the biggest problem. I would go hungry on most days. Nobody would have thought I was homeless. A few years ago, I started talking about it, here in the US, where I now live, but soon realized how people would look down on me. I never thought telling my survival story would have such a negative effect bevause here, people associate homelessness with crime, drugs and prostitution. As a result, I don't talk about it anymore. But this video in Japan was very significant to me. Homelessness is always associated with danger. I was homeless 25 years ago, but I still pick up coins from the ground, today, in remembrance of those days.

probably because they either do not have a child, or do not want to bother their child either because of poor financial or family conflict, and poor financial handling which the last elderly says in his story.
I don't have full knowledge or experience of it but Japan places a strong emphasis on self-reliance, they would blame it on themselves if they found themself at the deepest point of their lives and it is shameful for them, and sometimes could not face their own family because of it. some organizations indeed help them from time to time, but some are just stubborn or some cannot access it for some complicated matter.

It’s not because they are nice, it’s because they don’t want to be seen as rude and causing trouble and risk being outcast. There is a Japanese person who talks about the culture in Japan and he explained why Japanese are polite. They are always worried about upsetting others . because of how Japan is always facing natural disasters, if you are outcast and need help, no one would accept you in their group and you would be on your own.Japan is a collective society. Wow, good job! I was homeless when I was 20 years old for three years. There is a documentary called "Street Wise" about homeless kids in Seattle Washington. They started making that film a year or two after I decided to change my life, but I knew people in that film. I was not into drugs or alcohol so, I had my wits about me enough to say, Well, I am here on the streets, why not turn this into a big urban plunge and become part of the solution by joining homeless outreach programs. I worked in an international missionary program with trucks and ships to move goods around the world to assist with world poverty. I learned by experience how poverty is often caused by a loss of dignity. Despair enters along with apathy which drags people into poverty. It's often the case that the loss of dignity leads to drug addiction as well. But, those are only two of the many reasons for poverty, war, crime, political oppression, etc...there are many reasons. I was revitalized by the humanitarian work I was doing. I ended up with a great career in transportation and live in a great house overlooking Puget Sound now. Keep up the good work!👍

🟫THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the Salvation of the last day that Christ brought in the second and last incarnation of the His new and holy name"
(What God hates most of all are the superstitious practices of people, but many people still cannot let go of them, thinking that this superstitious practice is ordained by God, and even now have not completely let go of those. Even the day of worship (including the Sabbath, which the religious world observes) is hated by God; and even more God hates and rejects social relations and worldly relations between man and man. God did not even order the spring Festival and Christmas day that everyone knows, especially the toys and decorations such as pairs, fireworks, lanterns, Holy Communion, Christmas gifts and parties --Christmas party----aren't they idols in people's mindsthis? The breaking of bread on the Sabbath, Wine, and Fine Linen are even more idolatrous. All the various traditional Festival days known in China, such as "Dragon Heads--raising Day," the "Dragon Boat Festival," "Mid--Autumn Festival," the "Laba Festival," and New Year's day, and Holidays in the religious world such as Easter, day ofBaptism, and Christmas day, all of these arbitrary Feasts have been organized and passed down from ancient times to the present day by many people. The more the Satans congregate in a location, and the more obsolete and backward that place is, the worse the feudal customs become. Many of the Festivals in the religious world seem to show great originality and seem to create a bridge to God's work, but they are not--they are seen as Satan's bonds that bind people so that they cannot recognize the God--all that iscunning trick of Satan. Actually the work that God is doing today is mainly to deal with and eradicate the superstitious nature of people and completely change their mental outlook.)
      Almighty God said
What GOD hates most of all superstitious practices of people, but many people still cannot let go of them, thinking that this superstitious practice is ordained by God, and even now have not completely let go of those. THINGS LIKE YOUTHS ARRANGE for WEDDING FESTIVALS and DOWRIES for BRIDES; MONEY GIFTS, FEASTS, and similar methods of CELEBRATION of BAD OCCASIONS; ancient INHERITED FORMULAS; ALL the NON--SIGNIFICANT SUPERSTITIONSwork PERFORMED in the NAME of the DEAD and the SEMONY of BURYING them, GOD HATES all of this MORE. 😪
Even the DAY of WORSHIP (including the Sabbath, which the religious world observes) is HATES by GOD; and even MORE GOD HATES and REJECTS SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS and WORLDLY RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN MEN and MEN. 😪
GOD DIDN'T ORDER even the SPRING FESTIVAL and CHRISTMAS DAY that everyone knows, especially the toys and decorations like pares--pares, firecrackers, lanterns, Holy Communion, Christmas gifts and party---Christmas party------- AREN'T those IDOLS in PEOPLE'S MIND this? 😪
BREAKING---PIECES of BREAD on the SABBATH DAY, WINE, and FINE LINEN is even MORE truly an IDOL. All the different TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS known in CHINA, such as "Dragon Heads---raising Day," the "Dragon Boat Festival," "Mid--Autumn Festival," the "Laba Festival," and NEW YEAR'S DAY, and RELIGIOUS WORLD HOLIDAYS such as CHRISTMAS OF LIFE, DAY OFBAPTISM, and CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL these arbitrary feasts have been organized and handed down from ancient times to the present day by many people. ☀️
HUMANITY'S RICH IMAGINATION and CREATIVE AWARENESS CAUSED them to be PASSED to the DAY. 😪
The MORE the DEVILS GATHER a LOCATION, and the MORE OLD and BACKWARD that PLACE is, the WORSE the FEUDAL CUSTOMS. These things bind people so tightly, that they cannot move. Many of the FESTIVALS in the RELIGION WORLD seem to SHOW great originality and seem to create a BRIDGE to God's work, but they are NOT in FACT----SEEN BANDS of SATAN that BIND them MAN to NOT KNOW GOD----ALL of thatis a cunning DECEPTION of SATAN. 🛑😪
In fact, when a phase of God's work is over, He destroys the tools and styles of that time, leaving no traces.
However, "faithful believers" continue to worship tangible material things; WHILE they SET ASIDE what GOD has in their MINDS, NOT STUDYING it ANYMORE, SEEMING to be FULL of LOVE to GOD BUT the REALITY is HE is LONG-TERM when PUSHED OUT of the HOUSE and PLACED SATAN on the TABLE to WORSHIP. 😪 🛑
The IMAGES of JESUS, the CROSS, MARY, the BAPTISM of JESUS and the LAST SUPPER----ALL of these are respected by the PEOPLE as the LORD of HEAVEN, while OVER--OVER AND AGAIN SHOUTING "LORD, FATHER in heaven." Isn't ALL of this a joke? 🛑
Until now, GOD HATES many similar sayings and practices inherited by mankind, THOSE SERIOUSLY BLOCK THE WAY TO GOD and, moreover, become a great hindrance to mankind's entrance.
in addition to the EXTENT of SATAN'S CORRUPTION of HUMANITY, PEOPLE'S WILLS are COMPLETELY FILLED with THINGS LIKE Witness Lee's LAW, Lawrence's experiences, Watchman Née's surveys and Paul's work.
There is really no way for God to work with people because within them there is too much selfishness, laws, rules, rules and systems, and the like, these things, in addition to the last of the feudal people which superstitions, have captured and devoured thehumanity. What people think is an exciting movie that tells a "fairy tale" that is colorful, with incredible creatures riding on clouds, so creative that people are amazed, leaving them dumb and unable to speak. ACTUALLY, the WORK that GOD is DOING NOW is MAINLY to ATTACK and DELETE the SAD CHARACTERISTICS of PEOPLE and to COMPLETELY CHANGE their MENTAL OUTLINES. 🙏
God's work has not lasted until now because of the heritage passed down by mankind through the generations; it is a work He personally initiates and completes, not necessarily succeeding the legacy of a particular great spiritual person, or inheriting anywork of a representative nature done by God in some other age People don't need to worry about any of these things. God now has a different style of speech and action, so why do people confuse themselves? If people walk today's path contained in the Current while continuing the legacy of their "ancestors," they will never reach their destination. GOD FEELS A STRONG DISGUST for this particular class of MAN'S BEHAVIOR, just as He HATES the YEARS, MONTHS and DAYS of MAN'S WORLD. 🙏
From "The WORD Appears in the Flesh". holy book
Fulfilled in "In the beginning He was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). ... and (Ezekiel 2:9-10). ... "His garment was stained with blood. He was called the "Word of God" (Rev. 19:13).

His Coming is the fulfillment of all that was prophesied in the great book of Revelation, so the last "Salvation" He brought the whole truth, the way for eternal life. So the "victorious" ones who will receive them are the wise "virgins" because as recorded in the prophecy of His return no one knows it except the one who will receive it! I see many parallels between these elder people and elder people living in derelict brick houses in rural areas in my country in eastern europe from very little pension, and have to live almost a self-sustaining life. These people have great wisdom, so don't forget to say hi once you meet them!

Japan has a system to house and support homeless people. Outside of major metropolitan areas, public apartments are often less than half full and vacant, and those on welfare receive financial support and free medical care. Many homeless people in Japan stubbornly refuse support of their own volition. The city where I live has a population of 800,000, and there are about five homeless people living near the station and the police box. They are constantly in contact with the city and police officers, and although the number is decreasing, some of them refuse to move. After all, there are always clean toilets available.

Many homeless people here in the USA are mentally unwell. I imagine part of the problem here is that mentally ill people here in the USA aren't put in an institution or supported in some way, they end up on the street and in urban areas are apparent to all. I imagine other homeless people lose their mental balance, even if they don't suffer from some sort of inherent mental illness, because life on the street is so difficult. A lot more become homeless because they become drug addicts and spiral down and lose everything. To me, the squalid state of the homeless in US, and the sheer number of homeless people here, is a reflection of a larger illness in the state of our national 'culture' for lack of a better term. If the United States was a person it would be diagnosed as a mentally unwell person.

Mental health is strongly correlated with social connections and tolerable conditions for living. When people feel hopeless, powerless, and trapped -- as many do in our dystopian late-stage capitalism with a lot of toxicity, trauma, and hostility -- they put their mind and energy toward escaping those conditions. Some drink alcohol or take other drugs to get away. Some isolate and lose themselves in videos, games, books, or other media. Some fall into delusional states, either shared and supported with a like-minded group, or singular and isolating again. Some just stuff their feelings down for years, maybe decades, until their body hits a hard limit and they have a new diagnosis or three.
When you see people struggling to keep going from day to day, think about the pain they carry, the trauma that set them on the path. Think about how improbable it is that they have the capacity to worry about offending you with their presence, their appearance, their odor, their possessions, their struggles. Maybe let go of some of that urge to judge, both them and yourself. ❤

On a recent visit to Tokyo I saw homeless people in Shinjuku and these young men and girls near Kabuchiko tower that I did not realize were homeless. some of them i think did have homes but for some reason they would not go home. I did not know until watching these videos that there were elderly homeless living near a river in Japan , This is heartbreaking to watch. I am 70 and I cannot imagine living like this. Where I come from, Albuquerque New Mexico U.S.A. there are many homeless people who are mentally ill or on drugs, who are constantly in the streets begging for money. Many of these people cannot work due to drug addiction or mental illness and have lost their personal dignity. But in Japan the homeless are at least respectful and polite and not on drugs that can make them dangerous to approach.. I did not see any homeless people begging for money in the streets. As a result these people at least retain their personal dignity and self respect and deserve to be helped even more for that in my opinion. This just cannot continue. This young lady is doing her part to help these people, If more people like her would be doing this perhaps all the homeless in Japan would be reached some day and taken off the streets. I would like to contribute to your project of building homeless shelter in Shinjuku as it is really needed there. This is kind of a dangerous area in Japan at night. Thank you so much for what you are doing> making the world aware of this problem and helping them with food and supplies at the same time. I wish I could be there helping you. But for now all I can do is pray for these people and pray that you are successful in buying that homeless shelter. May God Bless you sweet lady for what you are doing. Makes me feel proud that one of our own is out there in the world making a difference.

His Coming is the fulfillment of all that was prophesied in the great book of Revelation, so the last "Salvation" He brought the whole truth, the way for eternal life. Yeah not, Japan is just another society screwed over by traditions that limit freedom and growth. Don’t let Japan’s polite exterior fool you. I lived there. Firstly, they’re highly bigoted & racist. They discard & ignore whole sections of their society & more. You can learn what not to do with Japan. Their society has no life, no fullness do it. They lower their heads & claim humility but it’s all for show. Inwardly they believe themselves to be superior to all others. The biblical myth has a saying, by their fruit you shall know them. We saw Japan’s fruit during WW2. A people so ruthless & brutal they were hated throughout Asia. They allied with the Nazis. Can a culture change? Sure but if it’s only the surface, the underbelly still lives. America’s underbelly is racism, bigotry & greed. The Japanese underbelly is racism, bigotry & greed. Japan just hides it all with polite interactions & a cultural passiveness that disguises the screw job & hatred.

I have been watching many, many videos of north Vietnamese young girls with babies, accepting government deals to build bamboo houses. The men hide and refuse to help if not married. I have watched so many videos that I could most likely build one of these houses myself with some help.. These girls have to not only build their house, but raise their babies tied to their backs, while planting gardens to sell their produce for food. Many have no diapers and have to hold their babies over a creek to pee or poop, bending down to the water to wash their babies, while they do everything else.
I am eighty and try to do everything myself, but I own a house and receive some government help for my age with utility bills.
That would be great for elderly people, to find some youngsters to put up housing for them. But government help to provide utilities and enough for basic food is still NEEDED.
Our minds are still so good and wise. It is a shame to neglect people who still have so much to offer.

I was just in Japan. I can’t prove they were homeless, but I saw one elderly woman sleeping on cardboard box in tourist area dontonbori Osaka, one older man begging outside street mall Kobe, two elderly sleeping on cardboard two blocks from Shibuya scramble crossing. I didn’t see any of this in 2019. Sadness for them. Thx for this video.

jepang is not comunis. No free home for the poor.
Empty houses are not necessarily for sale. And prices just stagnate and don't go down

    • @iralia333

The situation with akiya is complicated by inheritance tax from their sale. It was not the intention to give them away but they could be rented cheaply to charitable organisations to help these people. Win/ win as far as I can see.

It’s amazing what you’re doing for these lovely people who’ve been met with such misfortune. It would be great if the government, and perhaps the rest of Japan, got involved to solve this homelessness crisis in the country. It can happen to any one of us and is heartbreaking to think that a lot of people don’t even think to contribute in any shape or form. Good to see you doing your bit as well as raising awareness along the way. Massive respect.

I saw in a video from a friend of mine who works in Japan, especially in rural areas/village, in rural areas/village of Japan there are many houses that are abandoned and deserted by the oner, you can rarely find people passing by, but in this video you can actually see Japanese people who don't have homes, just relying on tents and whatever equipment they have on the outskirts. Japanese cities, why don't they return to the villages to occupy houses and empty land there to use and cultivate? it's actually better than being poor.
