Chris, try putting in a half step in every position, for Am7 you’ll need G# between F and G and respectively for all other positions. That’s instant bop… Without a context or a harmonic backup this lick it sounds like a classical music etude. I’m aware that you’ve presented Bird’s lick as he plays it, so kudos it’s a great video. The fact that it sounds somewhat “classic” is exactly what I like about it! :-) You can use it in many different musical situations and not just “jazz”. And yes you got it, my idea was to present what he was thinking while he improvised that, so I used exactly what he played in the solo. Thanks for your feedback man!
