Not to mention that it has (at least some) basis in reality, namely in the control and oversight over pharmaceutical agent and supplement quality. I mean, nothing is gonna do this. Still fun idea to play around with lol
It kinda feels like attack on titan. A certain people group, when injected with a certain fluid, are transformed into mindless monsters, effectively killing the transformed person. The last name Akerman has special significance in the AoT world as well.
Soon it will be a documentary, the way the country is going. Another mass slaughter today.......on a college campus this time. No motive really, just another disturbed hateful person armed with a weapon of mass destruction.......the American version of a mindless zombie. These insidences are increasing rapidly with no solutions in sight. The public seems to be going haywire with only two types of citizens left......predator and prey. One survivor, a teenager, commented about his generation of kids: "this is all we've ever known"! If that's not part of a horror story......
I loved the first iteration of this from a few years back, but it's really wonderful to see the new components wrapped so engagingly around the origional. Excellent work Westrup.
Good horror will make us ponder what if scenarios. This one did just that. While the committee meeting may not have been exciting, the way that it was edited into the horror angle worked and was an interesting take. The shifting kept the engagement. The white armor suits looked good and the body dysmorphia shots worked as they were disturbing. The takes at the end could lead to some good discussion with others.. Great work to all involved. Be careful out there. Peace.
Science fiction at it's finest. One thing I absolutely love about a good science fiction is it's ability to skim the border of possibility with concepts like this. There is a logical explanation for it but it still extends just beyond the rim of reality.
Shows how both sides are bad and indifferent towards anyone that's not part of that group. That's also done by design and utilized by banking families and other elitist groups.
I'm curious to know how you would prefer them to work. They are cold, yes, but they are effective, level-headed, and working toward the same goal of helping people. It's a fresh realistic approach to the movie.
@@Commander_Shepard. I agree with you, Commander. I prefer that approach than they only bickering and accusing each other to found someone to blame instead of trying to solve the problem.
Creatures were thoroughly creepy especially the last one in the building would love to see this made into something longer or even a full length movie has a lot of potential.
Ok...now THIS....was good. Really good. It had a lot metaphorical meaning to it. The graphic animation was amazing. When they had to take down the creature on the street, I felt bad...this began as a person who apparently took this medicine they obtained through a disreputable online site & this was the end result. How scary & saddening at the same time. Well done on this project.
This film was outstanding in every way possible. I truly believe it could be taken, if not to the big screen, quite possibly a mini-series. With the rise of so many streaming services, and can't help but think one of them could get interested.
No one says, that people turn into monsters because of unregulated pharmaceuticals, that's obviously metaphorical, but it is a fact that the risk of unknown and dangerous side effects is increased. Especially because people have small to no chance to know if the pharmaceutical has any interactions with others.
@@gabeguzman8367 I mean you can be against big pharma but still think it’s good advice. Unregulated medications can be bad news. Especially when people differ to them instead of more standard medical techniques when life and death is on the line. Or we could just ignore anything that has a message that aligns with big pharma.
Hi Brazilian here. It would be great to enhance our experience a caption in this wonderful short film. Please subtitle it in Portuguese BR. Congratulations!
this was well done but it sound like an anti-supplement ad by big pharma. "unlicensed retailers" with jump cuts between those words, spooky music and monster shots. just my observation. the only thing missing would have been short jumpy clips from Joe Rogan talking about all the nootropics, etc. he takes. "I take Golden Brain Food" with spooky music, jump cut to crackling jumpy words "unlicensed retailers" jump cut to monster dying.
well nahhh just people don't care. Stories about someone taking b17 to cure their cancer, or going to brazil and having their cancer cured by going to burzinsky clinic makes news. But they then don't report, or if they do it gets little headlines when they die months later because the cure was fake.
We also need to make it easier for people to get medicine they need from reputable sources. Especailly in the US. People with chronic pain here are treated like criminals.
is this from a movie ? it was so well made, from the street scene to the chopper and special forces armour, it was top film making, the creatures were fantastic and the story of altered changing DNA being the cause was slightly far fetched but far more believable than most horror/sci-fi movies today. bravo 👏👏👏 PS the information at the end whilst being true could start the complainers in our community to want farther restrictions on medication ending in us being slaves to the doctors for every sniffle or headache.
Outstanding. Great story line and production. I agree with Michael Koukaras that this could easily be made into a movie series. A pre and post of what we have seen. Hope that happens.
Yeah I need a full film of this. I love the concept of people buying drugs online and being mutated. I would love to see a full movie about this. This gives me some I Am Legend vibes. I would love to see this world's apocalypse.
Believe it or not, the "regulated" industry is and has already been causing great harm. The problem are not a few people buying black market drugs, but science and regulatory agencies becoming ideologically captured, leading to public health risks on a massive scale. Maybe that's a film waiting to be made.
I imagine the dislikes might come from some who were jarred from the immersion with the sudden sci-fi video game soldiers which felt out of place with the presentation. But I do wonder if the CG wasn't just cheaper than creating a more realistic scenario with suited up tactical police team.
That was a brilliant film. The special effects were superb. The aplomb and understatement of a Worldwide crisis was so British. A definite 10 in my book. Well done to all involved in the making of this intriguing story. Could be made into an epic blockbuster in mainstream cinema.
Has elements of the movie "Doom" from back in 2005. (gamers know this movie well) Has same creature used in the street scene in this short. Check out the movie "Doom" scare the shit out of you! you'll love it, "A team of space marines known as the Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge (The Rock) is sent to a science facility on Mars after somebody reports a security breach. There, they learn that the alert came after a test subject, a mass murderer purposefully injected with alien DNA, broke free and began killing people. Dr. Grimm (Rosamund Pike) informs the team and her brother also a team member named Reaper (Karl Urban) that the chromosome can mutate humans into monsters -- and is highly infectious." All hell breaks loose!
The officer cut shorts the conversation as soon as the medicine's role in this incident, is mentioned. It seems that the Minister and other Politicians have taken bribe from the pharma company.
This is definitely one that could be adapted into a full length feature. So well paced and acted. Has unlimited potential.
Not to mention that it has (at least some) basis in reality, namely in the control and oversight over pharmaceutical agent and supplement quality. I mean, nothing is gonna do this. Still fun idea to play around with lol

I find that most of the shorts from Alter SHOULD be, (and I often find myself wishing they were), full length films.
The documentary feel to this was played perfectly. Congratulations to all involved.

The coldness of the bureaucracy was almost as chilling as the mutants, to be honest.

Two takeaways here. This should be a feature length production. Independent movies are the future.
