As a child during a visit to my grandfather's farm I slept in a room at the end of the house near the gate at the end of a long driveway. Some ancestor was said to have died in that room. One night I woke up when the house was dark and quiet. I was compelled to go to the window after hearing the hooves of a horse as if it had walked past the window all the way to the garage and back down to the gate. I looked out the window and saw a white horse, just standing there, staring at me. It was comforting somehow even though I felt a bit scared by the eeriness. There were no horses on the farm. Yeah, in the long version the cops would've showed up with the lead detective played by Michelle Rodriguez and there would've been a final showdown between her and Seyfried.

I remember watching this last year. Was just impressed then as I still am today❤ The acting was on point. I absolutely love Amanda Seyfried, and have just about watched every movie or show she has acted in😊 I’m not sure if anyone has even commented on Amanda and Thomas Sadoski not only both starring alongside in this short, but too The Crowded Room, or whether their onscreen chemistry is so strong and natural and makes sense, considering they are husband and wife🥰 Amanda really commits to any role she’s playing. This was superb! The location and backdrop was breathtaking. Her voice can be likened to that of a siren. She’s mesmerising😍 I only just realised. At the very start. When she’s breaking the beautiful white horse in, she says, “you’re okay, it was only a bad dream”. The exact same thing she said to Christian, before he was turned too. I’m wondering if the past stable hands could also see their predecessors, or was it only Christian?🤔 Would love to have seen this turned into a full feature film💯 Loved❤
This deserve so much more attention. It's dark, sad even, little bit gore. It's scary. It's beautiful. I loved every seconds of this film. I wished it would have been a full length movie. I'd pay to see that.

I absolutely LOVE Amanda Seyfried and the man is her actual real life husband Tom Sadoski. They’re both amazing actors, but Amanda REALLY did the damn thing in this short! I mean, per usual! The story itself was crazy awesome! She was DEF a witch! Or maybe even Circe? From Greek mythology?
Excellent! I could see this on the big screen! Actors top notch. You should really think about making this into a movie and keeping the same actors! Thank you for sharing your talent!
The movie has no jumpscares but had a scary vibe. Its kind of a place which attracts troubled men to be taken to a mental safe haven only in a form of an animal. Its kind of a generational witch clan who controls the farm. The movie has a good vibe especially Amanda's eerie humming and wierdly beautiful songs
Very well done. Great acting, scenery and storyline. Whether this was 17 minutes or 2+ hours long, I was compelled to watch after the first 30 seconds. Definitely feature-worthy work here. Bravo!
This is phenomenal! Superb across the board and it's shocking it's only 16 minutes. It almost feels like a complete full-length movie. It gets its point across without feeling too rushed, though one or two spots did jump a little bit. I felt like I knew each character. I am slightly torn on the ending, but overall I enjoyed every minute of it!
"We gotta find some kinda wizard, can change 'im back!" -- Delmar O'Donnell. Seriously, though. This is lovingly crafted, top-notch top to bottom. Congrats to all involved. Thank you.
This was SO good. Absolutely love them acting together and the editing was next level especially the one where it switched between the ax and the banjo! Love this so much.
And I’m just going to add: that I always notice that these shorts have a common theme. They hype up the intensity at the last two minutes. Leaving you questioning everything. Which is …….bravo 🎉 imo
Very cool. Well made. I like how both characters have their dark sides and it isn‘t clear until the end if the dreams/visions are his product or induced by the place.
I remember seeing Amanda on All My Children. I found her mezmerizing on that show although she didn't have a huge role. Love seeing her career grow! So cool her and hubby are in this short film! Haunting!
This short is absolutely the best I have seen on all of TH-cam! Beautifully written, well shot, unique story line and superbly acted! I was mesmerized watching this film, and was disappointed when it was over. This short screams full feature film!! I hope Mr. Powers will consider that! Bravo to this film!
Great short! How did you get Amanda, with her beautifully haunting vocals? Hell of a fable with equally as good a story. I wonder how long this shoot was. My experience with short films having differed from single take indie experience to big productions that tend to run a bit longer but it can be fleshed out by the finally created film the quality can then be seen. This would have been even better as a 30 minute short. I loved this! Well done!
I'm just seeing this wonderful film and I love the under tones. Amanda is a super talented actress and I look forward to seeing her husband play with her again, you guys are awesome. Even the animals were great.
Aww, Amanda and her hubby get to do this together.. I love it.. Love John and his wife working together in A Quiet Place as well... This was really good!!
Wonderful acting! The low-key singing is done just perfect - beautiful but not unrealistically so, and both haunting and ominous. I'm very fascinated by this version of the witch: Apart from that quirk of transfiguring men into farm yard animals, she doesn't seem to be evil, or even cruel. So now I both want to know why she's doing it - that first song she's singing seems to hint at something really awful - and at the same time I'm glad the film leaves it open.
This one was well worth the time! Little action yet the atmosphere and vibe is totally captivating! I really like this kind of slow-paced horror that lets itself aink in and does not rely on cheap jumbscares and effects. I also appreciate the implementation of the Greek mythos in the production, since I happen to be a Greek person. Congratulations to everyone involved, keep it going and keep it humble! 👏👏
Dear Eli Powers! You made a brilliant film here that actually got me all the way it’s the very last frame! Amanda really commits to any role she’s playing.
This was superb! The location and backdrop was breathtaking.
Her voice can be likened to that of a siren. She’s mesmerising😍
I only just realised. At the very start. When she’s breaking the beautiful white horse in, she says, “you’re okay, it was only a bad dream”.
The exact same thing she said to Christian, before he was turned too.
I’m wondering if the past stable hands could also see their predecessors, or was it only Christian?🤔
Would love to have seen this turned into a full feature film💯
Loved❤
Thank you to all who contributed to this intricate piece. And that song - thank you Ruby Wolf!
This deserve so much more attention. It's dark, sad even, little bit gore. It's scary. It's beautiful. I loved every seconds of this film. I wished it would have been a full length movie. I'd pay to see that.
Birth of the curse:
“How well I remember, I was just a girl. Pull my mother out the kitchen door,
How she struggled when they kissed her. How the rain began to pour.
Lay and bleed and how she cried out ‘Be you cursed forevermore.’
Grass grow knee-high on your lonesome grave,
How I pray for hours, oh Lord, your soul to save.
But there ain’t no Lord in heaven,
only men and beast below.
So I swore to you a promise, ‘Be they cursed before I go.’”
This is probably one of the best Alter films Ive seen and Ive been a watcher for a long time.
Very well done on every level!! Bonus points for Amanda.
She explained everything in the song she is singing. Complete plot and how it all began. Excellent revenge story 👏
Masterpiece
Amanda Seyfried is great but I LOVE Thomas Sadoski, he's so underrated!
I became a fan after watching The Newsroom!
amanda is absolutely brilliant. so glad to see her in so many projects lately ❤
Excellent! I could see this on the big screen! Actors top notch. You should really think about making this into a movie and keeping the same actors! Thank you for sharing your talent!
The hands passing the knife is very authentic and unique. I've never seen something similar.
And the twist.. hadn't see it coming
There's no way the guy could've known about the shotgun hidden in the storehouse unless his visions were all real.
Fantastic. The first song that Serene sings tells you everything you need to know about why she’s done what she does. The second song is a warning.
Didn't know I was in love with Seyfried's singing until today. Now I love her even more.
Very well done. Great acting, scenery and storyline. Whether this was 17 minutes or 2+ hours long, I was compelled to watch after the first 30 seconds. Definitely feature-worthy work here. Bravo!
Amanda is such a great actress. and her singing voice is soothing, I love her 🥰🥰
That’s Amanda’s husband as Christian, so that’s fun.
If anyone is able to find the names of the songs Amanda was singing, I would truly appreciate it! They were gorgeous.
Amazing story. Incredibly well written and directed. There's talent here, everywhere.
Amanda Seyfried is such a good actress. Every movie she's played in was amazing!
Excellent movie. Both actors are very good. Story line is what I enjoyed most.
"We gotta find some kinda wizard, can change 'im back!" -- Delmar O'Donnell.
Seriously, though. This is lovingly crafted, top-notch top to bottom. Congrats to all involved. Thank you.
Of course it's pete look at him
This ending was a little easier to understand than a lot of these. Thank you !!!!
"Am I Ulysses? Am I Ulysses?
No, but you are now, boy..."
Terrifying. This poor Ulysses is never going home.
Knew from the casting this would be good.
I suppose there are worse fates than becoming a witch's familiar...
This is brilliant. So I think Serene is a Witch/Siren and the curse on him starts when she sings the song with her banjo. Love this so damn much!!!
I'm normally not a fan of horror shorts, but this was wonderfully executed--acting, cinematography, story, and a great ending. Cheers!
dude alter has gotten so much better in the years, they deserve to make movies like these. Its amazing
Really like how much uncertainty and fear was packed into the story. Well acted all around!😊
Very cool.
Haunting!
They are truly both incredible actors. From their body and facial expressions to the tones of their voice.
Definitely a good short. Comparison to Circe is definitely perceptible, and both actors did phenomenal in their roles. I wouldn't have expected less.
This short is absolutely the best I have seen on all of TH-cam! Beautifully written, well shot, unique story line and superbly acted! I was mesmerized watching this film, and was disappointed when it was over. This short screams full feature film!! I hope Mr. Powers will consider that! Bravo to this film!
it's amazing to see amanda in one of your videos!
Amanda Seyfried!!!! Thanks Alter! Totally made my sick day worth it.
Well done!
@Andreaming Really? Amanda was AI generated?
Great film! Everything tied together-casting, script , directing , editing and cinematography and more.
I love Amanda Seyfried, she's so talented ❤ Alter really should be turned into TV short horror stories, why haven't they already?!
Yes it should
It basically is.
Dust is the Sci-fi channel and Omeleto (sp) is the drama / thriller channel.
Amanda is one of my favorite actors in Hollywood, she is so talented and her movies are fantastic, she was also brilliant on the Dropout series.
Loved this. The way the audio was so intimate and really drew me in.
Amanda Seyfried has proven herself to be a real actress, she chooses her projects extremely well.
Loved this! Folk horror vibes & great writing & acting. And so much depth of character conveyed with minimal dialogue. 5 stars!
this 17 mins of film time is better than most things I've seen. BRAVO
She has a really nice singing voice ❤ Awesome movie, the atmosphere was spot on! Thank You ♥️
Awesome cast and absolutely awesome story. Loved it. 😍
Outstanding short film. Most definitely left me wanting more, which is a great thing! Plus, I had no idea Amanda had such a beautiful singing voice!
Beautifully done. Loved seeing Amanda, she brought me back to the Alter after I strayed for too long🙏
Feels good to be home.
Oh, yes!! This is going to be epic. I love her films. Thanks Alter ✌️
Dear Eli Powers! You made a brilliant film here that actually got me all the way it’s the very last frame! I have nothing but explanation points at this time as I just finished watching an amazing creation! I’m 71 and I’ve seen a fuck load of movies in my time, this film will stay with me please please please keep creating🎉🎉🎉
really really loved this. would love to see it in a full length film. feels folk horror esque to me which is one of my favorite genres to watch
Love, love, love this short film!!! I was sucked in right away! Amazing acting by Amanda Seyfried! She is and has been one of my favorite actresses! I just found your channel- I cannot wait to watch more short films like this!!
WOW! Amazing Cinematography, acting, setting, music (blaming YOU on this EARWORM!) wardrobe, Hell, it was ALL AMAZING, but that SCRIPT! Just WOW, and the twist at the end was SO UNEXPECTED! REALY thought it would go another way!!
Acting was exquisitely performed by Christian. Good grief...some of these you just wish were full movie length.
Thanks for a grand viewing.
I think this is one of the most awesome memorable short horror films, I've ever seen? It's a refreshing new concept in the "witch/horror genre?" I've seen a few good "witch" movies but this one is Top Tier next to the "VVitch" movie for me, IMO. Amanda's voice is so lovely and I love that song!
A brilliantly acted, directed, and written short film.
Loved it. Can't say it was horror, more like a dream come true! Amanda is mesmerizing. "when you animals learn to control yourselves, you can become real boys again."
A dream come true being turned into an animal…? And she never said that last line.
@@Fuzzysea693 Serene was always kind to the animals and to Christian. The men brought their own "emotional baggage". The names and the song point to a savior who is going to save us from ourselves, but can't. I added the last line for Hope.
Sounds like textbook misandry
@@TheDweeb002 You must live in Texas if you have textbooks like that.

Ведьма и осёл (A Witch and a Donkey) Lyrics by КОРОЛЬ И ШУТ
Wow this was great! Easily one of my favorites. I wanted to learn more of her backstory so bad.
Really interesting twist...Love Amandas singing in this, but most importantly the mystery that lures the watcher.
Ive said ut once before, ill say it again. Although we love being spoiled by Alter on TH-cam, you guys def should have a streaming anthrology series! Bc lately, alter has been my new ahs! Loving the content!! Ty!!
I thought ALTER was on Tv now as well?
I really loved this one. Amanda’s always been a fantastic actress.
"...and the animals I trapped all became my pets"
A very intriguing story!
Now I understand the first scene lol. Beautiful story and well told. Congrats to the director and the actors.
OMG...never thought I'd see the beautiful *'Amanda Seyfried'* in these short stories, and to make it even more better it's her husband *'Thomas Sadoski'* playing by her side...these short stories by *'Eli Powers'* keeps getting better and better.
Dude. That was pretty good. Would love to see a full-length version.
Amanda Seyfried is amazing. Great acting across the board. This whole short is a surreal, beautiful nightmare.
This one takes nightmares to a new level. There is a feeling of loss and even a battle of control going on with tragic results.
The acting was spot on with tension building throughout.
There is a turn of the century cemetery on the family farm and it has those vibes alluded to in this work and my curiosity is always peaked as it is made of two families.
The use of the eye was stellar.
My in-laws have a tradition that anytime they see a white horse they stamp their hand. Fun, interesting, and superticious all at once.
Fantastic work on a unique and entertaining horror short. Thanks to all involved.
Peace
This would be a great series! Go into her background and find out if she's a witch or whatever... so good!
