Beautifully shot film. Perfect example of letting the viewer’s mind fill in the details. The dead body on the couch is so much more frightening because you never actually see it in the light. As it sits there in shadow you picture things much worse than any special effects could accomplish. That goes for the story as a whole as well. The post apocalyptic setting and the behemoth at the end. Was it an alien invasion? Yet the actress makes a reference of what “we” did to the world. Is that behemoth somehow the result of human machinations? The movie doesn’t end with the ending. It makes you sit and ponder it. Beautiful piece of work.

Very good effects and acting. I love the subtle storytelling of a world that has died and the few that survive live in a darkness and solitude so great, that they will have conversations with corpses.
Humans are social apes like gorillas or chimpanzees, we need that interaction. It's why solitary confinement should be considered a cruel punishment and be taken away. I've been in jail with people who've spent over a year in solitary, they all said you'll know if you can handle it within the first week. You'll either snap or you won't. @@JessieJ93 thats always the hard question to answer. I believe no one should be subject to that but at the same time I want worse for very cruel people. I don't have an answer to that question to be honest
It's kind of sad for this lonely woman, stuck in this apocalyptic type world with a big, quiet enormous creature. You really don't know if it's aggressive or docile, but the woman is ready. This would be good as a full movie. Reminds me of the film, The Mist, by Stephen King.👍
The film isn't by Steven King. Steven King isn't a big fan of most of the movie adaptations of his books, but the Mist is the one he likes. He's even jealous of the changes the screen writers made to the story because he says they make it better
Frank Darabont is the guy who directed the film, and he also did the first 2 seasons of the Walking Dead. Sadly his experience on that show was so bad, he says he doesn't want to direct again.
That was well done. The storytelling through the environment spoke volumes and the writing was powerful. The bit with kids asking about birds and butterflies, that may as well have been creatures of fantasy at that point, gave me pause and the line "Mammy tell me what the world was like before it hated us" hit hard. Very well done.
Loads of "The Mist" feelings! I loved the ending, though I didn't get how she managed to clean up the air inside the house and spend the night without her mask.
This falls into that hybrid Creepy/Scary category and that gigantic creature/alien being outside introduces terror into our hearts. Nicely done and yes, I too, hope there is a continuance of this film.
straight the hell up my alley. Left me begging for more. what else could a writer of a film want? brought up The Mist in my mind. the scale, the locomotion of the gargantuan being. just fantastic pacing/acting. color. A+

Holy smokes this was excellent, I hope this director gets to work on full release horror films as the angles, sounds, lighting etc was all outstanding... very talented director whoever they are.
This has been said for so many short horror films that often show less, which is is more. More to the imagination more questions more to the horror of a monster you only catch a glimpse of, almost lovecraftian. Fantastic film man and I hope we see more of this content!
Truly one of the best short films I've seen in ages. Brilliantly thought through and constructed. The mise-en-scene and production values look fantastic; the atmosphere is palpable; the solitary performance from the lead actress is excellent - really heartfelt; as another poster correctly mentions elsewhere - the fact that you never fully see the extent of the couch-corpse makes it all the more eerie; this film is subtle, beautifully constructed and just makes you ache for more. Plus the creature is wonderfully Lovecraftian, which is an added bonus. Thank you and congratulations on a stunning achievement!
Fantastic. The makers of this film get what real horror is. Not monsters in broad daylight, explosions, gunfire, blood and brains all over the camera lens. But things barely seen in the distance, mysterious and terrifying. I've lost a child and I know how this woman feels, how that man must have felt.
A great short movie! And kudos to you for having the sense to film most of it in near-darkness and/or mist. When you can't clearly see the creature ... your imagination fills in the details.
I loved it! Very lovecraftian. Like elder gods came and destroyed the world and only a few stragglers are left. Enjoyed it, I also really liked the woman.
The beauty and stillness of the macabre poetry here, chills to the bone. Ending with the hero (perhaps a touch anti-hero given the conversation & circumstance??🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏
This one hit different for me. You captured the feelings of parents whose children were brought into a cruel world so accurately. Cheers from Palestine 🇵🇸
Post Apocalyptic films are something I enjoy. They are also a dime a dozen on the internet. This one started out kind of rote. Then it presented it's angle and it worked and by the end I can easily say "This is a really good film." It starts out with a character wandering around. Many PA films have characters in gas masks and this is fine but can take away from the viewer seeing character emotions. This film addressed that with the lead taking her mask off in a sheltered area. With a PA film there are monsters. Some are aliens, some straight up monsters, monsters of the human kind or a combination. This gives us a huge and intimidating monster. It has a feel of the monsters from The Mist. I loved how our character armed herself with the axe 🪓 but it might not be enough against that behemoth. The work was carried by a single actress who was fantastic. This can be a challenge. My favorite part of the film, which is where it distinguished itself, was the conversation she had out loud. It was very poignant and moving. There must not be a lot of humans left as she lit a fire which could give away location. There is horror in that level of loneliness I loved the touch of the astronaut toy as it played into the conversation and also the camera work from the wine bottle to the body (chills). Congratulations to Ciaran, the crew, and actress. Your piece stands out and was a joy to watch. Peace.
Terrible things or Stranger things? Movie quality is nice. Creature concept good, very alien ( mutant hammer head worm.) Potential. Worth crowd funding to get this project going in small sequels. Whats being done works. Looks great. We need more.

Holy shiet, the conversation with the corpse is so intense. Portrays how ungodly lonely one must be in that situation. Like, it's sooo different from talking to yourself or just monologuing to vent or a conversation imagined in your head or something, she's imagining a full conversation with someone else (and a dead someone else) on purpose and acts it out loud, on topics that weigh heavy on her heart, because that might be the only socialisation she'll ever get from here on. And then the part about her daughter... Fuuuuuuuck But this is what good horror needs. Horror is only ever horrifying when there are emotions and pain. That's what makes it relatable and therefore truly terrifying. When the biggest horror is always in humanity.
That was really well done. I fully expected her to take the remaining pills and sit next to him to die the same way… To be honest, why bother if everything is that horrific? But kudos to her for being a fighter despite the fact that it doesn’t look like there’s much left fighting for at that point. A little morbid on my end but definitely not a crazy thought. Right?
