These turorials are awwsome. I learn something new everytime i watch one. Even after chasing salmon in steelhead in the NW for 30 years. Keep em coming.
Gotta say, that was a good tutorial. Nice explanation of figuring the bottom. I struggle with bobber fishing and lose patience and go back to drift fishing. I know bobber is hella affective. Especially for you. Whenever topic comes up of bobber fishin' I tell people you are the best that I know. So if you guys wanna know how its done, listen to what this guy says!
This is so different from float fishing where I live! The typical setup is a 13’6” rod with a centerpin on it. The reel always has mono on it (no more than 12lb). The floats are typically 7g (changing depending on the water conditions obviously) and are fixed to the line with surgical tubing. A swivel below the float connects the leader line (usually an 8 or 6lb). Hooks are usually smaller too
I use pretty much the as you, I would never fish like this guy.sorry but ,just wouldn't work on the salmon river, or 18 mile creek, or oak orchard, at least not for me.later
Here on the east coast,we fish the salmon river for salmon, steelies, coho, browns, and rainbows. We mainly use centerpins, big 12- 13.7 ft. Rods, and we use 8lb. Main lines with 6 lbs. 4 ft. Leaders, we like a challenge. Yet it .
Love these videos... thanks for taking the time to make them. Starting to see some "Addicted" stickers on trucks these days.... one I see everyday by Bridgeport village.
Holly this is the best fishing tips I saw for my entire life. I'm a first timer bobber fishing and really want to learn how to do it)) tired from my boat cuz weather 90% of all my weekends is shity ))) thank you guys for so good information!!)))
Speaking of Jigs, if going Coho float fishing, do you recommend bringing another rod for jigging or just switch the set up on the same rod and use that for jigging?
Randy Stittsworth Honestly it’s totally up to you, I only ever bring one rod unless I want to float roe, cause 99% of the time I find myself twitching jigs
What kind of rod are you issuing for a 5 ounce float? And would that rod be extremely stiff and what kind of conditions would you use a heavy float like that for?
Pimmpin Jim I got a lamiglas rated to 4 oz. as long as it’s got a pretty nice action. It’s my plug rod but it works perfect for those heavier float or plunking setups.
I guess there are different ideologies. I use a 3.5gram float and 14-20lb mono or braid to a 10 pound fluoro leader. Landed a 20lb chinook yesterday and had zero issues landing it. 25-40 lb leader is wayyy over kill imo. Also the salmon in my rivers spook easy and would definitely be scared of that giant float and probably the heavy line.

Exactly how I fish^ 13’ rod with islander centerpin
Some set up for coho usually 1.5 to max of 2 ft leader so you can easy set the hook when you got a bite
You guys should make hats with different fish species patterns on them.!

Nice. Would the water in the background be considered "tributary" fishing? Tight lines
What kind of knot are you using for each end of the line attached to the inline weight?
I struggled real hard last year, can’t wait to take this and get out there! Thanks alot
Dylan Stoddart Good luck!
Can this set up be used for steelhead as well or just salmon?
how do you recommend adjusting this set up to fish low level creeks? something only a few feet deep
gooseturtle Go to a fixed float setup. Search that on our TH-cam, lots of videos on it.
Go with a simple fixed float setup like for trout fishing with worms!
what weight float was that on your coho spin set up? you said 1/2oz in ling weight but i never said what size oz float for that set up.

Another rod alot faster than tying knots
You need to learn to the the bobber stops. And 50 to 60 lb test line.
Why do you need 5 oz float for chinook, and also can you use bobber and jig for chinook and coho.

Do you guys know of a web site where you can buy some salmon eggs?
Arron S just go to your local bait shop they should have it or call ahead
Sunrise bait Co out of OR sells good roe.
Pretty sure mono floats better than braid fluorocarbon sinks
other than there is floating braid which no mono can touch sooooo you're wrong
Braid usually floats much better than mono, and Fluoro does sink.
Is this the same set up for steelhead using bobber and egg?
Check out this video. th-cam.com/video/-O1imP0jLuE/w-d-xo.html
