I was taught how to dress nicely growing up, but your vids have fine tuned it. I’m now a grandpa and my three year old grandson is being raised with this information. I wish I looked as amazing as he does!
Well done, Antonio. As soon as I saw the thumbnail image for the video, I instantly came to the comments section to tell others not to embarrass someone about the cuff tag. In college, a girl I knew invited me to her formal sorority dinner. I was clueless about many things guys my age had already learned from their fathers. I go out and spend $400 I didn't have on a suit and had no idea these tags were supposed to be cut off. One of other guys at the event blasted me about it in front of at least 10-12 people. As a mildly inebriated 20yr old guy at a sorority party, my instant reaction was to haul off on this clown, but something made me hold back. Looking back at it now, I consider it a character-building moment, but the experience was BRUTAL. Don't be that guy. Not only is a douche move, but you pass up the real power move of discreetly helping out the "competition". Side note, I ended up marrying my date from that night while the fashion expert is working towards his 3rd divorce lol
Agreed. I’ve seen closeup wedding photos of a sleeve with the tag, but that is no reason to ridicule someone who is trying their best with the knowledge they have. I only discovered all this style info at the age of 38. I’m somewhat grumpy that people around me (parents, friends) haven’t pointed me in this direction. But now that style is on my radar, it’s gonna change my life!! Thanks Antonio!
I would add belts with suspends. I would also add if you wearing a suite use suspenders or side adjusters. Do not wear a belt with a suit. That is especially true if you are wearing a three piece suite.
I put clip suspenders along side clip ties. Get real ones & have a tailor put on the required 6 buttons. I keep the belt loops on just in case I want to forgo the jacket. My father always had the beltloops removed when he had the cuffs hemed.
My work outfit today was a white shirt with blue spots, a khaki vest, royal blue tie, blue jeans, navy socks with yellow stripes, and tan loafers to match the vest. Got endless compliments. Personal theory, it isn't so much about "too much color", but more what colors go together and how you arrange them. Blue and khaki/tan go well together, white goes well with both khaki and blue. As long as they all play well together, and nothing is too much of a clash, you can be very colorful, and still seem natural.
Just a side note for clip on ties, police, body guards, bouncers, etc wear them in case the scrapping with someone so it can't be used to choke them out.
I bought my first and, until recently, only sport jacket over 17 years ago to wear at my 20th high school reunion. It is made by Mark Ecko, cost about $40, and still needs to be trailered. That said, it has gotten me many compliments. The last was just a few weeks ago, when I was purchasing a few sport coats at a men's store as I attempt to level up my style game as I approach 55. The woman helping me gave me a compliment. I responded that I loved the jacket as well, but that the front pockets were just for show and not functional. She explained it was just the tack stitching. A younger me might have been embarrassed by that. Seventeen years I've been wearing the coat wrong.
The tie one for sure, its always better to go long as the too short tie is the same effect as a too short jacket/bad button placement or a too short vest. It breaks the line of the legs and torso and draws the eye to the waist which is rarely a good thing
Great video. Yes, many years ago I had a Nehru suit that I wore about twice. I had a pair of bell bottom trousers and thick soled shoes. I wore them about a year and gave them to charity.
When socks were hand made and costly, men whose wealth wasn’t what it had been would wear socks that had holes because “holes could just have happened, but darns (hole repaired with a darning egg and thread) never” - to avoid demonstrating that they couldn’t afford new socks or could only afford a repair. Well-presented series of tips! Thank you!
Spot on about your assessment regarding fashion versus style. As for tank tops, you better have the physique to go with it. Look at what you perceive as weaknesses in yourself and truly assess if they can be used as assets (sometimes they can) and roll with them. It's all like poker and the song where you got to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em.
Great video. I tell guys wearing tags and logos to "stop being in high school". I prefer V-neck T's for this Florida weather, but the close-fit Crew neck and jeans makes a great casual statement (as long as the shirt is plain, and CLEAN).
I think I don't check any of those boxes (ok maybe the running shoes, but just when I go to the movies or buying groceries!). Much of it thanks to Antonio and RMRS. Keep spreading the good advice!
I like your end comment about trying to protect one from judgment. There's dangerous people in the media right now that folks are defending because they initially set off red flags and made others uncomfortable enough to shun them. I'm a person who is small, a minority, was poor and otherwise would have been bullied and considered "weird" unless I leveraged other skills to fit in, and I still do that to this day. And sure it sucks that we have to refine ourselves to that extent, but I see it as the cost of living in a presumed civilized society and wanting to enjoy the fruits of that life vs cry about it or harm others.
Interesting, i live in Poland and i have never seen this type of tags in any elegant store (i've visited about 100). I also was in about 30-40 suit shops in: czech republic, slovakia, slovenia, austria, hungary, albania, montenegro, serbia, croatia, bosnia. Also no recall of those. Maybe it's just American thing, or they are only in very expensive shops (i was in the normal/most popular ones)
Good she's will remove tags & tack stitching before they give it to you. Usually they will then slip them into a bag wit h extra buttons, fabric swatches &, sometimes, extra button thread
Fashion and timeless style I could see a photograph of myself in the future, And my embarrassment. Large logo's, was my metal shirts, I had heard someone say not over an certain age. I personally don't agree with you with the white singlet, it's my common style with black jeans, but only in certain weight brackets, for I see this as a timeless classic
With your Point about Clip Ties I nearly full agree with you. But in the Branch where I Work all my Employees must wear the Clip Ties for safety reasons. (To avoid, that they get strangled with their own tie.) And with the Ring. Even I am as woman only wear one single ring. And that ist my Ring from the German Naval forces. None of them who know me, ever saw me without that Ring.
11:54 mostly sure, except for people working in security field, they should be wearing clip on to prevent criminals using it as a rope to choke the security
Antonio, I've been meaning to take the Collars & Co plunge, one question though. I can tell their "Cutaway" is definitely too much of a wide spread for me; what's the more typical Oxford dress shirt collar though, their "English Spread" or "Semi Spread"? Which one do you go for? Thanks, and great videos! Keep up the great work!
And about socks in sandals, this is typical in Germany, even in "relaxed" offices... So, before any remark, you may want to ask where the guy comes from... I did not check in Austria or Switzerland. Any clues?
We had a young lady (mid 20s, otherwise smartly dressed) with the tag still on the sleeve of her brand new 1000$ winter coat. As she was alone, shopping for her fiance for Xmas, I asked if she wanted me to remove the tag from the coat (as she had likely ordered it online and never thought to cut the tag off). I have been so thoroughly rebuked at my work! We sell moderately priced suits (in that 300$ - 900$ range) and some decent winter wear. And yet, she believed that people wouldn't know it was a nice coat if she took the tag off. I'll be blunt with anyone using this logic: a) it looks like you either stole it or are overestimating it's worth, b) the decision (if that's what it is) make the coat look cheaper and possibly counterfeit, and c) it's something that routinely gets hooked on something if not removed, which can then cause damage, and usually enough where it's not even worth it. Our tailor / seamstress had to try to fix such damage and it took her 3 hours of pulling the sleeve apart, doing an internal fix, putting it back together (twice, because the jacket was cashmere) and ended up costing him double her time. Which is not cheap. So I recommend thinking about that possibility. Those tags are, for the most part, like the tag hung on a t-shirt. It's to let you know who made it, so as to differentiate during the buying process. Period.
You lost me at 7% green. Green is such a hard color to pull off, but when it works it freaking WORKS. I’m always on the lookout for greens that suit me. I see the color as a challenge.
I agree! My GF bought me a super, dark green woollen 3 piece for Christmas. It looks great with a very light pink shirt, burgundy trousers and tie, or simply the jacket over a dark mustard wool jumper. I must admit, I'm almost totally the opposite to Antonio's chart, except white, of course, and love earthy/natural colours. The only black things I have are underwear, T-shirts and a rollneck. I stuck my neck out and bought a blue/grey gingham tweed jacket this weekend. I'm freaking out about wearing it for the first time, even though I know it's gorgeous! I am English though, so our classic styles are a little more that way: Pulling off a Gamekeeper/Eccentric Aristocrat style is relatively normal!
I think it depends on your skin tone and colors. I love using green as a large canvas piece in my outfits. Especially olive green, dark greens and sage green.
2nd image: i don't like how the tie looks, this knot feels childlish, but maybe it's my opinion. Also shirt sleeves felt too long in comparison with blazer. When i saw this 'x' mark i was SURE it was watermark for image stock xd.
I still have a Versace suit that has both blazer pockets and the rear trouser pocket tacked, only the handkerchief pocket and front pockets are open. I never use the pockets so feel no need to untack them, nobody can see they're still tacked as they're behind flaps anyway.
Ok, where are extra long ties available? I want to tie a full windsor at my cousins wedding this summer but have a long torso and that knot eats material.
I think there's another mistake in the 2nd picture i.e tie knot is not looking sharp enough to me, it looks loose & casual. However, I could be wrong. Please feel free to correct me if iam wrong Antonio..
With tee shirts, the silly ones like "Im with stupid" are an obvious no-go. On the other hand if you competed in the Boston marathon and you wear your Boston marathon tee shirt or any other well earned sporting event while going to the grocery store, to the movies with family or a walk in the park, then rock it! Not all tee shirts are equal.
The t-shirt neck is probably the most important mistake. As you stated, a deep v-neck is excellent to wear under a shirt. However, a crew neck will always be a classic style to match with a fresh pair of jeans. A perfectly fitted t-shirt can make anyone look good, even someone who is skinny or doesn't go to the gym can look amazing in a crew neck t-shirt
I find on skinny people a v-neck wears better, it places less emphasis on their pencil neck and don't wear loose fit sleeves, get ones with a cuff. Same with polo's, if you're thin then don't button them all the way up. Just makes skinny men look like coathangers with a head, not a good look.
Arguably, there are two mistakes in the third shot, featuring Antonio. The level of formality of the clothes is disproportionate with that of the shoes, and the coat should not be buttoned when wearing a vest.
Glad some else thought that. You can pull off Sunday best shoes with a more casual suit, but never the other way round. Saying that, it's the fashion now to wear plimsolls or tennis sneakers with a formal suit so who am I to argue. I will always maintain it looks daft however.
When it comes to wearing multiple accessories like rings, I think the most important thing is that it should fit your vibe. If it doesn't fit your vibe, you'll never pull it off. Johnny Depp can pull off the look, not because he was in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but because it fits his non conformist vibe. People like Antonio from RMRS or Aaron from Alpha M can't pull off the look because to me, they give off that good guy, follow the rules vibe.
@@ciaranoloan6199 I watched a few videos from the Nick Foulkes & Sons TH-cam channel. I like their look. Not just the rings, but everything else they do.
Colour of nobility. Likely why I avoid it. I think I have 2-3 purple items in my whole wardrobe, and that's well over 1,000 items. I don't much like red or green either to be honest.
Funny thing, I watch a lot of old movies, and often ties were up to the sternum. I used to think it was only the pumpkin characters, but I have seen some of the suave stars using that length too; sometimes even off camera. After all that, I still think it looks horrible
One thing I think you should cover is the unconscious bias that exists in all of us. Based on age, colors, accessories and overall fit you can create subconscious biases that impress people.
This! I'm tan as hell with piercings and tattoos, but you wouldn't think that if we spoke on the phone together. Upping my wardrobe is my attempt to make myself more credible/approachable from the start.
I see these "errors" all the time. Especially the length of the tie seems to be a secret. Of course it's difficult when you've never learned it and can't ask anyone. I'm lucky enough to have grown up with it and it's completely natural for me, although I'm often blamed for it.
Hello from Michigan! I'm always here to learn something new, but I still have yet to understand what's the judgement against socks and sandals. I'm wearing a very comfortable pair of Columbia PFG "slide" style sandals with socks, and wouldn't have it any other way for being comfortable at home. I think for me personally, they're easier to wear than any other shoes I own, which is close to 20 pairs. Somebody let me know!
If you're *only* wearing them at home, then it doesn't matter what you're wearing. Nobody will see you. Wear fuzzy bunny slippers if you prefer, because style doesn't really matter when you're alone. Regarding sandals + socks, I'll compare them to tags and tack stitching on a suit. If I left those on my suit, I'd give the impression that I'm clueless about how a suit should be worn. Similarly, sandals are designed to look good *without* socks. Wearing them with socks would give the impression that I'm clueless about how they should be worn. My clothes create an impression, and I never want that impression to be "I'm clueless," or "I'm ignorant." An easy way to look more stylish is to dress nicer than those around you. Sandals (even when worn *without* socks) are an ultra-casual look, so they're not necessarily a good choice for looking stylish. Slides are "very comfortable" and "easier to wear than any other shoes" (your words). I prefer to wear minimal sneakers. They're more comfortable, reasonably stylish (for casual wear), and I don't find it terribly difficult to tie my shoes. (If I had a physical limitation that prevented me from tying my shoes, I would strongly consider wearing slides.)
There are hardcore serious hiking candles that pretty much require good socks when walking 50-100 (more) miles on rugged terrain . Then it was copied by the clueless. As for sliders, they are supposed to be locker room/shower footwear. School athletes often were in a hurry after practice & just jumped into these "shoes" for speed, without changing. Then it became purposeful; then a (hopefully) lazy trend.
Well I had to laugh but yes Antonio you are right. The suit tags and tack stitching are the signs of a rookie! The Army taught me to teach others to look presentable in uniform so inwardly I laugh but outwardly I guide and educate. Once had a new guy try to put a complicated highland dress uniform together. It was totally wrong and others started yelling at him. I grabbed him, took him into the can and got him dressed properly. Then I tore a strip off the others by yelling “The kid cannot learn if the leadership fails to teach him! That failure is on all of you!” I have learned well that always being presentable is important, even to my wife at home. Colours depends on you and your physical colouring. I have blue eyes and brownish hair. So I stick with a lot of blues , browns and shades thereof. But I can pull off greys, blacks, greens and reds fairly well. Definitely use the colour wheel. Agreed jewelry must be restrained. And socks worn out or with open toed footwear? Antonio, let’s not even give it a mention. Any man worth his salt knows this is just terrible. Hell, I wouldn’t even wear that in the garden or mymown pool. Great vid as always. Keep ‘em coming!
The tags on sleeves are for the sales ppl (or you) can tell the brand without pulling it from the rack. Sometimes there is a 2nd tag that has the style or model number. Tack stitching was tricky for me. Jacket cuffs, remove. Rear vents, remove. Pockets, remove if they show. If hidden, I keep the right breast stitched, as well as the left "hip" exterior; it keeps the fit flat. I am right handed, so I use the others (just not stuffed). I might start opening right side inside pockets for my phone.
It's a bit weird what you said about logic and judging people based on appearances. As a practical matter, as a matter of survival, we *all* need to make quick judgements with incomplete information every moment of the day. That's not illogical. What is illogical would be having 100% confidence in a quick judgement and not keeping an open mind.
I'm not sure you listened to what he was saying. It wasn't passing judgment on something with context, it was reminding viewers that those sorts of judgments do happen and that guys should be prepared to make thoughtful, considerate choices if they want to make a positive impact. Mindfulness is something that everyone should consider, which is basically what he was saying. I work on men's wear. I wouldn't wear a polo and shorts if I'm selling wool suits and 200$+ dress shirts to lawyers, accountants, and financial advisors or managers and executives. It's not just mindfulness, it's portraying another option for someone in your professional circle, a sort of wordless mentorship, the influence a person can have on others perception and valuation. Or maybe you're blue collar and just on this video to make near meaningless arguments about psychology. After that (brief) opening, the next 11 minutes are entirely about fashion and tips to dress better.
@@nolankuffner3573 I agree with that. The specific part of the video that I was responding to was _"as logical as you and me may actually be, the world is full of people that make quick judgements based on limited information"_ . I was just making the distinction clear that of course we *all* make snap judgements, there's never unlimited time and rarely complete information. The important thing is to not have certainty in a first guess and to keep an open mind.
I accidentally left the tack stitching on the back of my new sport coat. I didn't even know it was back there. Thankfully, it was dark in that restaurant.
Not sure if you have ever seen the presenter of London real. Dresses really well (suits) but I’m often left wondering if he overuses colour or if it’s bold
My only complaint is shirts with big logos. I think it's ok with certain sports brands. In the past few months I increased my wardrobe big time and have 4 more colors to buy. There are people that only select sports brands. Sport brands have done it right with making Logo shirts and they also make smaller logo shirts that don't stand out as much. There is one great brand that still incorporates their old logo along with the updated logo. I'm in my mid 50's and still wear T-Shirts but the only printed shirts I wear now is from one Sports brand. But they do it right with colored shirts by printing a white logo which is fantastic, I can match an entire outfit just with the logo and not the shirt color. The color combinations that that are used don't look stupid. I don't have shorts or hats yet but the shirt collection is growing. This channel is about casual dress up than wearing casual sports wear. Your always going to have people fashion themselves over a brand and I think that T-Shirts that have a sports brand logo should be embarrassed rather than lumping every other big logo t-shirt that isn't brand related. There is a classic look with some of them.
Great video, all I will say on socks and sandals is match the socks to the sandals and no one will notice. Black sandals with blinding white socks just stands out. Heh
I wish I could give 1,701 upvotes just for including that Spock quote! 🖖 But if we're going to cite popular culture in good taste, then I would point out that's not Johnny Depp, but only ONE other man who can pull off the multiple-rings look . . . and he drums for John, Paul, and George.
Shoes, in my opinion, are a big deal that you never touched. Maybe you did in other videos, I'm not sure. I've noticed that a large number of men don't polish their shoes. Most men, being right handed, don't know how to tie their shoes. I've seen people wearing Oxford style shoes and cross lacing them. There are videos that talk about the difference of Oxford, Derby and Blucher as well as video how to tie so the bow goes across vs going up & down the tongue.
Fun fact: Most of the popular Indian male celebrities (including SRK) don't know that they're supposed to leave the bottom button of a 2-button jacket unbuttoned.

Hey Antonio, what brand is the deep v undershirt you have?, I have been looking for this specific shirt for a while now.
I was taught how to dress nicely growing up, but your vids have fine tuned it. I’m now a grandpa and my three year old grandson is being raised with this information. I wish I looked as amazing as he does!

Black socks/slides/pants are comfortable, easy, & quick, & look fine
In Florida, we wear sandals with socks, but only during the winters, like right now in January.

I want a dark blue navy shirt like that. I have one but it’s too small of a colar

Period.
Hey Antonio, where can I find a good place to buy sport suits, like that guy wearing that blue one in your video?
Thank you
I make 2 mistakes pointed out. Still dont know if im very convinced by the color percentage. But its a place to start. Nice video!
How are shallow V necks for casual outerwear?
Socks and slides are my go to around the house, grocery store run, and into the gym lol
I wore to a wedding a black suit with a green shirt and I think I pulled it off. The necktie was grey so nothing to draw much attention on me.
As a sportsperson socks with slides are for convenience n since everyone wears them they bcome cool since their the norm
2nd image: i don't like how the tie looks, this knot feels childlish, but maybe it's my opinion. Also shirt sleeves felt too long in comparison with blazer. When i saw this 'x' mark i was SURE it was watermark for image stock xd.
I'll have to admit that I wore a jacket without taking out the tack stitches before.
I still have a Versace suit that has both blazer pockets and the rear trouser pocket tacked, only the handkerchief pocket and front pockets are open. I never use the pockets so feel no need to untack them, nobody can see they're still tacked as they're behind flaps anyway.
Best thumbnail ever.
Ok, where are extra long ties available? I want to tie a full windsor at my cousins wedding this summer but have a long torso and that knot eats material.
Gentleman's Gazette, a competitor
Man your good , Ive learn every time I watch your videos , just when I think I know it all
I think there's another mistake in the 2nd picture i.e tie knot is not looking sharp enough to me, it looks loose & casual.
@3:00 Are you Byzantine Catholic?
Have you done a deeper dive at accessories? Personally I wear no jewelry or even a watch. It’s a personal choice but how important is it? TY
The Scotty Kilmer laugh got me 🤣 🤣 🤣
Can you please make a video on stylish gym attire for men?
Hi Antonio
Always Enjoy Your Style Videos .
Love The Channel !!
Good video, thanks for sharing. ER doctors should wear clip on ties (or no tie) for safety reasons.
I've heard that bow ties are very popular among doctors for safety/hygiene reasons.
Cops have to wear clips on ties, so a regular tie cannot be grabbed. Some have eliminated ties, but require a crew neck tee shirt.
100%, check out Nick Foulkes. He might be the best dressed man on saville row, always a ring on each finger
@@ciaranoloan6199 I watched a few videos from the Nick Foulkes & Sons TH-cam channel. I like their look. Not just the rings, but everything else they do.
I learned a lot from you, I just wanted to say Thank you
2% purple? I feel its one of the most flattering colors on most anybody
I'd say purple should be around the level of green
Colour of nobility.
Likely why I avoid it. I think I have 2-3 purple items in my whole wardrobe, and that's well over 1,000 items.
I don't much like red or green either to be honest.

Thanks for all the great style, dressing and grooming tips man. Much appreciated 🙏🏾
Welcome!
Great advice :), does anyone know the name of the art print in the background?
Deep Vs are cool
I followed you advice and purchased some shirts from Collars a& Co. Love the shirts!
Awesome - thanks for checking it out Peter!
Holes in socks… Nope. Not for me. But hey… Clip on ties! Cmon! Love them! They were available for us on our Navy working blues!
12:27 Czechs from the Czech Republic... 🤣
The tie length kills me, so many times I see that tie above the beer belly. Cracks me up everytime.
Blamed for what? I don't understand.
Some podiatrists advise people to always wear socks/hosiery with all shoes, including sandals and sliders.
Why is that?
My clothes create an impression, and I never want that impression to be "I'm clueless," or "I'm ignorant."
An easy way to look more stylish is to dress nicer than those around you.
There are hardcore serious hiking candles that pretty much require good socks when walking 50-100 (more) miles on rugged terrain
That failure is on all of you!”
I have learned well that always being presentable is important, even to my wife at home.
I like collars and Co but the website sucks cuz it always says that it's down
It's a bit weird what you said about logic and judging people based on appearances. As a practical matter, as a matter of survival, we *all* need to make quick judgements with incomplete information every moment of the day. That's not illogical. What is illogical would be having 100% confidence in a quick judgement and not keeping an open mind.
Look up “heuristic”!
Stop it
I'm not sure you listened to what he was saying.
#5 Large oversized logos: I totally agree with Antonio here on the fact that Cannibal Corpse shirts are indeed timeless.
2:11 killed me😂
🤪🤣
Thanks! Too good!
Not sure if you have ever seen the presenter of London real. Dresses really well (suits) but I’m often left wondering if he overuses colour or if it’s bold
Mistake ? at 2.07, the right slive is not ironed and it is not perfectly cylindrical.
12:38 Every German man over 40 on vacation would like a word with you 🤣
My only complaint is shirts with big logos.
Very great vid
Loose suit in a slim framed guy…….unless you are David Byrne of course…Once in a Lifetime. Quality advice from BiG ‘A’.
Great video, all I will say on socks and sandals is match the socks to the sandals and no one will notice. Black sandals with blinding white socks just stands out. Heh
Nothing better then waking up and watching RMRS while eating breakfast 😌 👍
I still want to look good going to six flags .. please recommend me a video ???
Nice video
Thanks 😁
If your fit, there is nothing wrong with the occasional wife beater around the house or for an errand. Good video.
Great Channel.
Anytime mentions a clip on tie, I instantly think of Chris Farley in Tommy Boy lol
Or Animal House: “Nice tie Boone! Is that a clip-on?”
It was the only option in preHS Catholic school
Snoop dog always pull off the socks and Sandals
Orthodox! I knew it! Are you practicing, or just do the baptisms and such?
I wear socks with my slides but I hate sandals
I wish I could give 1,701 upvotes just for including that Spock quote! 🖖
But if we're going to cite popular culture in good taste, then I would point out that's not Johnny Depp, but only ONE other man who can pull off the multiple-rings look . . . and he drums for John, Paul, and George.
I’m pretty sure this guy’s wealth came from being a con artist, but lots if his style advice plays for men on the cusp of 50.
🌞
I didn't even know people wear socks with holes. I always throw mine out.
Sandals with socks is a german trademark
Fun fact: Most of the popular Indian male celebrities (including SRK) don't know that they're supposed to leave the bottom button of a 2-button jacket unbuttoned.
The "rule" of leaving the bottom button open was cuz the King of England was too fat to do so. Being an influencer, others followed.
The bottom button is the not to be buttoned button :) How many Bs?
