Very concise, yet detailed guide. 🙂 The only thing I would like to point out is that there's a locational aspect to catching Stormfish too: Ancient Stormfish can only be caught in a storm in the Ancient Isles, Wilds Stormfish in The Wilds and Shores Stormfish in the Shores of Plenty.
Also note that if you can find a storm at either uncharted island N-13 or the sea dog outpost at K-11, go there, any daytime stormfish will be a guaranteed shadow stormfish as neither islands are within the boundaries of any regions. Also just a tip for wreckers, fish from the shipwreck's masts (if any are sticking out) to avoid your line breaking from the fish running into the shipwreck.
On the topic of Shipwrecks, make sure to loot all the barrels on the Shipwreck, they commonly contain cooked Fish. I myself found a cooked Blackcloud Wrecker inside a barrel, so I'd definitely recommend doing this in order to find some of the rarer fish. Side note: you can also find every other kind of cooked meat, including Megalodon and Kraken.
Oh boy your telling me, I got lucky and got the rare trophy stormfish, a bunch of wreckers, and literally over 75% percent of what I found was burnt and went for 100 good lmao

i've found that a good spot for devilfish is north of the island at X11: Scorched pass, as the nearest volcano is barely in range of the pass, and if you stay in title card range, you can fish for them without worrying about skellies, volcanos, megs, or krakens.
It isnt mentioned, you can expedite catching fish by very slowly reeling while a fish is fighting. it can mean the difference between 2 fights and 4 if you are making slight on/off reels while the fish is fighting, judge when to let off by the sound of the line tension. trophy fish break off much easier so reel way slower while a trophy fish is fighting.
Top for devil fishing: near Y-23 there is a rock formation which, while it technically can be a spawn location for a skeleton fleet, is out of range for any volcanos, as well as being good cover from any sight lines. If you go there and park behind it, you can fish away to your hearts content without worrying about volcanos! Just make sure you bring a storage crate of grubs

So, one interesting thing I found out. I was fishing for Wreckers and Skeleton music started but no ship showed up. I had a thought and started fishing with grubs. Sure enough, I caught a Battlegill. If you're too close to a wreck the skeleton ship can't spawn but counts for Battlegills.

For anyone watching this now, cooking the fish is absolutely worth it now. Just go to a seefortress, clear it, and start cooking with the 4 pots in the kitchen! Edit: You can also get a little extra fish and meat from the barrels, just make sure to not forget a storage crate!

if you want to farm wreckers and can't find any shipwrecks you can always look for any reaper chests on the map

i fished for them at the outpost. the we literally got the devil fish right when the volcano erupted.

My buddies and I just started our fishing grind. My friend's first wrecker was a Trophey Snow Wrecker. We lucked out considerably.

How specific are the locations? I was in the wilds with earthworms and still catching normal splashtails but not wild splashes, is that normal?
You can catch splashtails in any area, so if you are using bait just real back in when you see them in water
