    I've been waiting for you to review this one! While the price is indeed a bit rough (but way lower than the Darksky) I think what you get for the money is pretty top notch relatively speaking, not to mention the variety of disks you can get. I really want the DS1 but it's A) super expensive B) no longer comes with the backlight C) they don't seem to value customers. Reading T&C if you are outside the US you have to pay for shipping for returns even if it's faulty. Seems like the Flux is the only real option for a proper planetarium. PS. I would pay more for the DS1 but there's just too much working against them on this one.

    A helpful video, but when you are moving the camera around, you aren't doing us any favors. I want to know what I will see when looking at the projection. I'm not going to be circling around like a drunken sailor. The think I don't like about this projector is the static- ness. I want something that moves. It's 2024, and nobody wants to shell out all that money for a pile of disks. Every image could fit on a tiny USB, and take up less space in our homes.

  • @nielskistrup8231
    @nielskistrup8231 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Almost a thumbs down: One big takeaway ---> The Flux has a focusing ring; DS-1 doesn't. But the later has more appealing discs. Need to review some head-to-head comparisons between this & the Dark Skies DS-1. Overall, leaning toward the DS-1 ... I can wait.

    • @FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE
      @FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the DS1 does have a focus ring as well. The Sega is probably the better buy overall personal opinion: Half the price, larger selection of discs, brighter image, can be used with a battery bank. The DS1 has the better shooting stars and the single chrome disc. I may do a comparison one day if they restock the DS1.

    • @nielskistrup8231
      @nielskistrup8231 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE Looked at the discs that I'd be most likely to buy for both devices, and there is no comparison --> Dark Skys has the discs that I want the most, but Sega has more. Quality wins over quantity in my book. That said, anyone reading this --> Review the disc selection before buying one of these devices. What good is a top-notch projector, if it doesn't project what you want to see?
      Good to know about the DS-1 having a focus ring. Thanks!

    Hi, I've enjoyed watching this review of yours. Very helpful. Still, I was wondering if you can enlighten me somehow, because I still have doubts in buying one. I'm actualy looking for a projector that has dimmer lights, as if we're seeing actual skies. I remember visiting the Titanic exhibition the other day, and there's this deck replica, where it brought you the experience of being in a real ship, on a cold windy night. Still gives me the shivers everytime I remember it. The sky was dark with dimmed stars. Well in real life, stars won't be seen that bright right? So I was wondering if this project could fit my expectation? By your review I assumed that this projector is too bright and too rich in content. I dont really favor colors and . I just want a few dimmed stars. What do you think?

    • @FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE
      @FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Even at its brightest setting, it’s still pretty dim and needs next to complete darkness to work. There are also brightness settings so you can dim it further although I found that unnecessary. A lot of it is dependant on the discs you use. Avoid the more colourful discs and you’ll get a darker scene. I think you’ll be pleased based on what your looking for.

    Hi I bought flux in 2019, as I kept it in packing for long time satin black finish rubber outer coating became degraded and sticky. 😢. I have used alcohol wipes and water now the rubber cover completely gone. It was soo shiny and crisp with that cover. Is there any possibility to buy it's rubber coating cover? I tried contacting sand blaster service here in Hyderabad, India, they all have no idea about it.

    Looks pretty cool, but as with many projectors the timing function stops me from all desire to purchase, who wants to be getting up every hour to switch a projector back on when the intention is to have a device that's supposed to provide a relaxing and medative environment. not much use when you are disturbed every hour having to swith the projector back on. On this basis only it's a big fat no from me. Take note Sega this is a simple esential improvement requirement.
