Just heard of Tenkara a few weeks ago. I ordered a rod, should be here in the next few days. I browsed through your videos and I see a lot of learning opportunities. Looking forward to taking a look
Awesome video. I have a few rods from American companies, which I found later were made in China! Was wondering how differently a true Japanese rod casts compared to the others? I want a Japanese rod just want to gather as much info from those who know.
I have owned seven American Company rods, that were made in China. I sold the first five although I did like a few of them well enough. My problem was fishing them side-by-side you can usually tell the difference. Much more smooth, light, and better overall fit and finish. Depending on the American company, the price for a good Japanese rod is comparable also. Check out Tenkara bum website to learn more.
Excellent, Kris. I needed your videos about 20 months and 15 rods ago.
You and me both!
Nicely done, Kris!
Thanks Tom! I appreciate all the work you’ve put into your reviews and blog.
Most informative.
Thank you.
Very helpful. And great shirt, by the way!
Thanks!

Thanks Ron and congratulations! It’s a continuous learning experience. Feel free to ask any questions once you get your rod.
Great introduction to the gear, clear explanations! Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Thanks Scott! I’m getting ready to post another video discussing Seiryu vs Keiryu vs Tenkara shortly too!
Thanks for the great rod info. Nerds unite.
Thanks Deake! Stay tuned for Part 2 & 3.
