  • In this video, I show you the best crappie fishing setup. This Crappie rig will catch thousands of slab crappie every year. I have this crappie bobber setup in my boat at all times. I also show you my technique on how to use this setup to make it the most efficient to put crappie in the boat. I am crappie fishing with a bobber and live minnows, you can also use jigs instead of minnows with this crappie setup. This crappie rig works all year long. Crappie Fishing Texas is HOT right now! I hope you enjoyed this video!

    This video uplifted my spirits, because you only see "Live Scope" users catching all these big fish nowadays. You using what I have, which is a Hummingbird Helix series finder, with mega imaging and side imaging; and catching those monsters, boosted my morale in the whole game! I'm in Wisconsin, and the fish are a lot harder to find, but this video was definitely a motivational boost to my hunting for those "Slabs" brother! Thank you!

    Have you considered doing an intro showing how you’re using your electronics to find brush? I’ve pretty much got the same set up, Helix 7 SI/DI in the back and a Helix 5 DI on the trolling motor. Can’t seem to find anything with the back unit, seems like a lot of interference. Not sure if it’s my settings or possibly too much prop wash. Anyway, love the videos. Watch them every week.

      So you have the side and down on the console? How you figured out your side imaging yet? I am just now getting to where I understand what’s what. It takes time. But I will sure get that in a video soon. Thanks for watching! God bless

      @@903fishing I have a tiller handle outboard on a flat bottom boat. I rigged up the Helix 7 transducer in the back and put the unit where I could view it while in the back seat riding around. The Helix 5 is mounted up front on the deck since it’s running on my trolling motor. The SI definitely has a learning curve, which could be part of what I’m experiencing.

    • @903fishing
      @903fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vincentgay2144 yes sir. You figure out that side scan and it’s a GAME CHANGER. My unit can go 100 feet to the right and left. And I still struggle sometimes determining what’s what. But I have gotten better Over tine. TIP: go out one day with NO POLES and be forced to use your fish finder and try to mark and find structure. Mark it. Run over it. See it it’s confirmed and move on. When you go out again to fish you will have multiple spots to try out.

    I’ve never been able to go out fishing and catch keepers, let alone a limit. I can’t swing buying equipment like I see guys using wether it’s rod and reels or fish finder’s. I’m extremely grateful to the Lord that I have air in my lungs and my health is good enough to get out and go fishing. I have a tiny 12 ft v bottom. I’m not even using a deep cycle battery. I’m just glad to be able to get off the bank and I don’t go far so a regular car battery is working. I mainly use a 10 ft jigging fiberglass rod. I think it was 13 dollars. I like to swim jigs real slow around structure. Blue ice has caught me more fish than any other colors. I’m clueless on when to use what colors. I’ve been in bed with Covid and went through quite a bit where I couldn’t breathe well. I’m glad I’m feeling better and anxious to get back out. I do use slip bobber with jigs as well but I can never get my stop knot to stay in place. It’s a constant frustration every cast. I think the eyelet on my other pole is too tiny for the knot to pass easily and it keeps moving my knot when I cast. I’d love one of those acc set ups. A pole that 8 ft would be ideal for setting hook. I’ve joined your fb family page etc. I’ll be watching and learning. I’ll check all your videos and you probably have videos to help me with questions I might have. We are blessed and when you’ve been done the health roads I’ve been down, you’re very grateful to be able to go fishing.

      Also, depending on your water clarity is what color jigs you need to use. Dark/muddy water, darker more aggressive colors. If the water clarity is somewhat clear, then non intrusive/more natural colors work well.

    hello love the videos you put out. Me and my wife love to crappie fish, we prefer cork and minnow fishing, not to say we do not like jig fishing. we have a hard time in the summertime locating crappie. I have a LS but still have a hard time finding them. i live in Arkansas so the temp gets up there pretty quick, i have a small window to find them and caught them because of the heat. could you give me pointers on where in the lake to start looking. most people say deep, but i have caught them in 8 to 10 feet of water. thx in advance for any help you can give

    • @903fishing
      @903fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would definitely find the river channel or creek channel that runs through that lake. With temps how they are now, I would look 17’-25’. Fish will more then likely be suspended 15’-18’ down. Thanks for watching! God bless

    Just curious, why not use the livewell?

    • @903fishing
      @903fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well my boat is old and doesn’t have the up to date aerator. It’s just filters water from the lake in and out of the livewell. It doesn’t put oxygen in the water that’s already in there. Surface temps are 90 degrees in Texas right now. Crappie are coming from depths that are a lot cooler. So the 90 degree water will kill them fast in the livewell. So I just go ahead and put them on ice. Hopefully that helps you understand. Thanks for watching! God bless

      I am fishing heavy brush piles for these crappie, if I was to get hung up with 4-8 pound mono, I am losing my rig every single time. With. My slip cork set up, 10# power pro braid, and a mono leader to the barrel swivel, 90% of the time, the leader breaks off and that’s it. I only have to tie on my leader and hook.
