This is our thanksgiving weekend 🇨🇦 Perfect timing for a lovely painting of pumpkins. I really like the loose rendition. I tried last years pumpkin demo but over worker it Thanks very much.
Another Autumn has passed and another lovely, vibrant pumpkin painting. I remember last year's, which was fun to paint along to. It struck me how many layers of light to dark values are needed to achieve a good result. Patience, too.
Yet another fun pumpkin painting. Thank you for the inspiration to embrace the season. Loved how you got the grey green on the gourds. I know a lot of colour theory and often forget to implement what I learn. When you said you added the rose madder quinacridone to the Viridian I had one of those “ duh” of COURSE moments. I bow down humbly. My question is about the light fastness of the Rose madder quinacridone. I absolutely love rose madder and used it for so many paintings as it is just the right shade for me most of the time and then I learned it was not stable. Thankfully there is rose madder permanent by Winsor Newton, but is the quinacridone stable also? Many m any thanks for all you share on TH-cam.
Hi Allison, I use several "Quinacridone" formulations, The advantage of quinacridones is that they are much more lightfast than traditional formulations. I have Quinacridone Gold, Quinacridone Burnt Orange, Rose Madder Quinacridone, Alizarin Crimson Quinacridone, Quinacridone Violet, Quinacridone Coral on my palette.
Love watching you paint! You are a master!

Thanks barbara!
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial.....perfect for fall. Also, I never thought of using rose madder to tone down the viridian color.
I learn so much from you as they say " I'm green behind the ears" with watercolor or any other venue. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
Thanks Lisa!

Hi Rick! Thank you for another fun tutorial! Love how it turned out! I’m wondering... when you refer to “Royal Blue”, are you talking about PB60?
It's Holbein Royal Blue, and it is PB60.
