It's awesome to see an 06 sti on here that's yours. I can't wait to see what you decide to do this it. I have the world rally blue 06 sti with black bbs really wanted the gold ones but I settled for what I could find. Car had 105,000 miles no rust so no complaints either.
I had a blob eye '04 STi right after I graduated High School, and at the time (2012-2013) I wasn't a fan of the way the hawkeyes looked. Over time, they grew on me to the point where now they're one of my favorite Subaru's. The main gripe I had with the 04-06 STi is the 1-4 spacing and the big jump from 4th to 5th. The way Subaru did the gearing on the 07+ was definitely an improvement, but I felt they could've made 5th gear a little bit taller. Mine cracked a ringland at a test n tune, I got the motor built by FAT in Phoenix and after that was getting nickle and dimed to death with issues every few months. Powersteering pump, rack leaks, strut clunk, wheel bearings howling etc. Sold it and went back to motorcycles only. I always smile when I hear a UEL Subaru though, and I could probably still be talked into buying one back, so long as it already had forged pistons 😁
Wow lol, im a freshly graduated kid, and Im about to pick up a blobeye and I don't really find the hawkeye as appealing. I gotta admit, they definitely are growing on me lmao
Let’s see more of this Hawkeye please! There’s just something special about gd stis. See what you can make stock motor/stock location. and then when you blow it up put a built motor in it.
Took me a while and multiple out of state trips to finally get mine. They were all rusted out or beat to shit. I wanted zero rust and clean body/interior. I’m now on the hunt for a Hawkeye to go along with my 05 STI. Aspen with gold bbs is what has been after my heart for a long time. You’d never think my car has over 100k miles if you seen it lol.
Well look in eastern oregon or Redding California. 2 places where I get cars and they are pristine with no rust. Like 50s Chevy pickups, no paint perfect subarus have crap paint so it’s key to look in those high desert places where they can’t afford salt lol.
@ I get it and I will be getting my Hawkeye from the west coast. I used to live in Cali but I am currently in Nebraska and it’s hard to go get a car in the other side of America. I drove a few states over in each direction but finally found my car out of South Dakota. As long as it’s not a daily in the winter rust isn’t a problem. I undercoated my whole car just to be on the safe side but it won’t see winter while I own it.
@@robmesaaz5737 I have an 07 sti but it’s stuffed into a 85 rx turbo sedan lol. My dream car, stuffed into a old shell cuz I couldn’t find a good deal vs one that I wanted, so made the poor mans sti I cal it. Still puts down 500 wheel on a 6262
Very nice. I’ve been keeping my eye out for an older STI. The Hellcat will stay garaged up here in Spokane during the winter. So I need some Subie action during these colder months. Haven’t seen Travis’s car in awhile, how is it holding up?
I love those subaru's, too. I got a 97 subaru legacy outback l wagon ej22 2.2l, and I'm buying everything to rebuild mine. Which gaskets are better, OEM gasket or the cometic mls gaskets. I ordered 2 sets of the oem, and I have the cometic mls gasket coming in today. Im just wanting to get mine up and running. Where can I get pistons and valves and connecting rods at. I can never fi d them for my car, o ly for a 2.5l.
I just bought the same car with only 74k on it unfortunately the motor was built on stock bottom end i talked to bbr about it and I’m sure they will see it here in a little while.
345 ftl lbs with 176,000 miles if the original engine is VERY impressive....06 is really a very good year for the STI's...seem like they had good build quality
I’m the orig and only owner of a psm 05 sti. 129K super clean inside and out. I did the whole turbo upgrade route and rod/piston built motor but just a 18g turbo so nothing crazy. I am keeping this car forever.
I assume you are asking what I have spent on mods correct? Hard to say, lost track a long time ago. Just price out what you want to do to the car. Price out labor if you won’t do work yourself. Should give you a ballpark
@ yeah that’s was my question I plan on keeping the car stock I’m only 21 and have only been driving for a year now but if I do build the motor it would be cool to know . Is it even worth buying an Sti with 100 k plus miles ?
This was the right thing to do is get the car custom tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. Like I ask people. Oh you do have a tune so what timing are you running?? That’s the real question. What’s the timing grams per rev scaled to? After many deer in the head light looks the people who got their cars tuned are still driving them. The people that knew it all, have a blown up car. It was totally irony. 😂
@@Craiggg12345 that’s more than my 05 STI. But I think that’s because the vas are more daily driver types of vehicles. I only daily mine in the summer cuz I don’t want rust.
I felt the same when I found a diamond in the rough… A one owner, garage kept, completely unmodified 04 STI with only 88k miles!? ZERO rust! Yea, I couldn’t believe it either. I seriously jumped on that sale and in less than 72 hours I had bought it online and had it shipped from out of state to Colorado! 😍 My high school dream car, now a 45 year old dude’s wish has been granted, lol! Life is good ❤ 🥲
Love to see a Hawkeye or any GD chassis!
I got the Bader built forester shirt one of my favorite shirts. My forester is going rotated turbo and 6 speed Glad to see a nice sti on the channel
This is the one that Chase bought!?? Hell yeah ❤
Clean find. Did you replace the maf with a new maf or just maf cleaning?
Nice find,Subaru content, thanks Josh, nice to see you have some time for you brother!
I have an 06 WRX in Aspen white. And it is by far my favorite color they offered. I wish it was an STI but maybe one day.
is this our christmas vlog series cause if it is i am always glad for them

Definitely subscribing glad I found this channel
What a gem! I Have an 06 and Im hoping to get it to this point someday!
And then sold it to chase! Lol
I love the Hawkeye sti can’t wait to get mine.
Same year and colour as mine! Can’t wait to see what happens with this car
My brother bought a white Hawkeye new after being out in my midnight black pearl 03 Bugeye. They were fun cars back in the day.

Good to see this car still in good hand with chase things sweet til turbo tho 😂😩
YES! MORE CONTENT!
Guess who’s back back again.
I can tell you for a fact it’s the cat converter in the exhaust. It won’t hesitate between shifts without it
Nice sti
Love the Hawkeye man. Congrats! Hard to find in that shape and color these days.
Beautiful car. Would Love that car.
After those mods I’ll pray 🙏🏼 for the rods and head gasket

Did you get rid of the forester

any reccomedations for 07 hawkeye 5speed gears. i don't plan on going farther that 350hp torque at the wheel.
Love that you’re back
Fuel stumble kit what does this all consist of? Would going e85 get rid of this?

You should import Evo 4 or 5 for content and collection 😅😅
