In the end, Gail had that attitude 'cause he didn't want to get Regina and Rick into harm ways. What a hero.

Letting Gail dies has to be the best ending. No, I don't hate him. In fact, I love his character even more when he told Regina the real mission, and how he wanted to protect both her and Rick. They were to 'clean' for that, as if he wanted to protect the younger generation... Truly a hero, Gail
Not sure this is the best ending as far as the team and the future consequences for the world are. You see Dr.Kirk said that his work with the Third Energy was getting a lot of attention and it's clear that whoever sent the team told Gail the real mission was to collect the data for the Third Energy experiment. Doctor Kirk is just a bonus (they need his experiment more than him). Since it's clear this is a very destructive force (and Kirk himself intends to use its power for his own personal gain) I wouldn't say it's a good ending if the data disc ends up in the hands of the shady organization which both hired Kirk in the first place and now wants his experiment for who knows what... (it's a good guess they're as eager as him to weaponize it somehow).
Gail wanted to keep this real mission secret from Regina and Rick but that still makes his sacrifice in vain since all of doctor Kirk's work and Kirk himself ends up working directly for whatever organization is all behind this. Besides, Regina learns from Gail what she unwittingly has been participating in and what the real mission is. If he really wanted to keep them ignorant he simply could have told a white lie and that the disc just contains logs of research *Kirk* had stolen, this way the secret could have died with him (though that wouldn't make a great story for the player).
Although it's not my favorite ending the best ending (as in the one with the best future outcome) is the one in which the team simply evacuates the island, the Third Energy reactor overloads and destroys the entire facility (and the Tyrannosaur in the process). Doctor Kirk's ultimate fate is unknown but it's a good bet he perished when the Third Energy reactor overloaded (it does leave a huge crater behind). Since the data disc on the third energy is never recovered either the organization doesn't get their hands on neither Doctor Kirk nor his work. And since the reactor is destroyed too nobody else can pick up where Kirk left and start anew. If Kirk somehow survived he's not foolish enough to show himself in public and get a new team sent to retrieve him.
At core Dino Crisis is just a survival horror game so the survival of the team is the only thing that really matters. Retrieving the Third Energy data disk and snatching Doctor Kirk pretty much reduces the entire team to a group of mercenaries doing a dirty job for some shady, mysterious organization hellbent on weaponizing the third energy. That never sat easy with me.
Not sure Gail is a "hero" per se either just because he wants to keep the real mission secret to Regina and Rick. He has been hired to retrieve the data disc and doctor Kirk if possible and has no regard for his missing team members like Cooper or Tom, who was working undercover and discovered the "dead" dr. Kirk at the facility. It's a fair bet he'd sacrifice Rick and Regina too if it ever came to that as long as he could succeed in his mission. He only tells Regina the truth since he knows he's dying and won't make it so he has nothing more to lose by telling it.
If I had written the script to the game I'd end it with the disc of the Third Energy getting stomped and destroyed by a dinosaur by accident (say a final boss fight). It would be ironic and befitting.
A lot of lives were sacrificed by Doctor Kirk when he tested the Third Energy. It's clear by Dino Crisis 2 that the organization who took over his work (by getting their hands on the data disc) have no regard for human lives either since they sent an entire town to a time with dinosaurs in them. Basically they tampered with things they should never have had in their possession.

damn this is a good game every ending is badass something you don't see anymore is a good ending to a game it's a lost art.
The body language of Regina in each ending reveals so much:
-In the first ending, she simply checks if everyone is ok, even if the mission was not fulfilled. But Gail doesn't look at her, because the mission was the most important thing for him. She wants the next assignment to try and make things normal again;
-In ending 2, despite the joke, the tiredness she experiences after escaping the island makes it clear how she really feels. She feels emotionally exausted, but will put it aside for the next assignment. It's her way to cope now;
-In ending 3, she looks back at the sky, because everything went almost without a hitch. There's no reason to lamment or celebrate anything.

I never realized there were 4 endings, i did 3 except for the one where you choose: gail's idea, find the heliport, find kirk, get the data disk, and everyone goes home happily ever after. Best Ending.

@@ubergamer2010 I tested it on the EU version and I didn't get 4/3. Maybe it's only for the japanese or US version.
2 & 4 are the exact same endings, its the exact same cut scene. Its the "Third option" despite if you chose Rick or Gails
I liked how this game and resident evil 3 kinda shared a decision system mechanic.
Ending 1. Saving Rick and Gail by following Rick's suggestion. - Escaping by Hovercraft - Third Energy Generator destroyed by the explosion in the port area
Final Boss Fight. Evading and blasting the Rex in the port.
Ending 2a. Saving everyone by following Gail's suggestion - Escaping by Helicopter.
Ending 2b. Saving everyone by following Rick's suggestion, but you choose to go after Kirk yourself. - Escaping by Helicopter
Final Boss Fight. Blasting the Rex following the transporter.
Ending 3. Saving Rick and Kirk by following Gail's suggestion - Escaping by Hovercraft.
Final Boss Fight. Blasting the Rex following the hovercraft in the channel

The heliport ending is my favorite. It's the most satisfying ending to me.
Dino crisis had a great concept in terms of a disaster that could be apocalyptic. 2 was nice but it wasn’t a survival horror.. yes. I only acknowledge those two.

It was inspired by the JP movie, there is no real reference made towards the novel. At least, not by voice like "This is just like that movie".

I wondered if anyone else picked up on that. It's something I started doing after watching BTTF - just to see folks' reactions. "I'm gonna make like a banana and go home", among others. I used to get some damn funny looks.

I miss playing this game! I really hope they remake it but keep it core to original and not mess it up.
20:28 the third ending to Dino Crisis it always bother me when before Regina leaves the room the T-Rex growls showing that it was alive and then Regina leaves the room. If the developers had been smart they would’ve waited for Regina to exit the room and the door close the t-Rex then would growl to signal danger. Not saying this ending to the game is bad and that dino crisis is a bad game far from it just saying that the third ending with the T. rex giving itself away kind of took away the fear factor before Regina left. But still the ending was very clever

Kinda wonder why you only see the 3rd energy reactor explode in Ricks ending. Btw, the Trex death in that one is my favorite, I love the distorted roar as it’s being torn apart by the explosion.
Explosion? I though the Third Energy reactor did exactly what Kirk said it would do, displace that place in time with another. It overloaded and the energy spread out all around it without control. This is how a large part of the island has been absorbed by the third energy and sent to who knows what time. The Tyrannosaur ends up in another time.

Yeah, that’s a 3rd Energy explosion, a large burst of uncontrolled 3rd Energy that displaced everything in the blast radius to a different time. That’s not to say that everything that was displaced made the transport intact. The Trex was in visible pain as it got sucked into the blast.
Because the explosion in the port was located pretty close to where the generator sits. The shockwave probably triggered a rapid overload, and caused a malfunction, vaporizing anything that would otherwise be displaced in the portal.
in ending two there is something important to know, it necessary to unlock the secret door by doing the flipping cards puzzle
But if you think about it....
I forgot how how to attain Ending 2 and 4, they are exactly the same with the only difference that Regina is the one who captures Kirk instead of Gail. Both ending has Gail kept the true objective of their mission from Regina and Rick.
Yeah, actually something from the 3rd ending shocked me badly. I mean, the real mission (mission which Regina and Rick are ignorants about) is by far more obscure than anybody could imagine. Just unsettling but at the same time so reveal.

The Helicopter ending is the only ending that is possible to do two ways.
1A: Follow Rick's suggestion, but you go after the Doctor yourself (fulfilling Gail's purpose). Upon reaching the location where the Doctor was last seen (the room with the two parts you didn't get. Either the special storage room on floor B3, or the Experiment room on floor B2), you will arrive to find that the Doctor is not there. You check your pulse scanner only to see the Doctor being in an unexplored area. You head over there, and find out that he is about to use the helicopter to escape. Rick will call you, and the Doc will notice you being there. Regina knocks him out, answers Rick, who then tells you that the Hovercraft has been destroyed by the T-Rex. Otherwise, it plays just the same way as if you followed Gail's route. Only this time Rick is carrying Gail.
1B. As shown in the video. You follow Gail's route, but you take a detour exploring the Level A area beforehand.
The boss fight with the T-Rex on the cargo transport is by far the hardest one in terms of the risk of getting eaten. The Rex will always take at least 5 shots to defeat (regardless of ammo used)
The other two endings are forced endings which you will only get if you follow the primary routes.
2. Follow Rick's suggestion, go to the underground port, and refuel the Hovercraft. Rick, Gail and Regina survives, and the Doctor's whereabouts remain unknown (He probably escaped in the helicopter).
3. Follow Gail's suggestion, track down Kirk, and meet up with the two men in the one room you did not get the devices from. Gail would succumb to his wounds, and Regina takes Kirk back to Rick. This ending was the most creepy one, as upon entering the port area, you find the Rex on the ground with blood coming from its mouth. How it got there in the first place is unknown. Upon leaving the area, it will wake up and chase you down the channel.

To me the canon ending was all three of them surviving plus capturing Kirk, Gail shouldn’t had to have sacrifice himself just because the higher ups didn’t want to be forthright with all of them.

Ending 5 is missing, this was done by choosing to follow Gail but go with Rick, in this Final one escapes in the boat leaving Gail and Dr. Kirck. Only Regina and Rick survive

I believe it should have broken through the large gate near the door leading to the hovercraft storage room.
But I always wondered how it got from the C/O room (where the large elevator is) to the tunnels connecting the port and heliport to the facility.
They probably did not have enough time in development to actually implement broken down walls and gates
G6 Liara If I remember correctly, there is a large, crashed door in the c/o room on floor B3, another one in the weapon warehouse and the last one in the dark, short passageway which leads to the corridor with the cargo transport.
@@eagleone08 Correct, but that tunnel leads to the Heliport. So that means the shutters should have already been broken down when you arrive there after activating the Generator

What's the different between ending 2 and 4???????
The difference being the final choice. I usually call them "Ending 2A" and "Ending 2B", since they both culminate into the same ending scene. This ending is often regarded as the best ending, since Gail got the secret disc, and survives.
2A: Follow Gail's path, but take a detour through Central Stairway, and into the transport tunnels, leading up to the Heliport. Then you go back to wherever Gail has Kirk in his custody (Either the Stabilizer Experiment Room on floor B2, or the Special Weapons storage room on floor B3). Regina will cut the sentence short and tell Gail that she found a chopper on her way there.
2B: Follow Rick's path, but you go after Kirk instead. At first checking the scanner, you will see Kirk appear in either of the locations where you obtain the Initializer and the Stabilizer (completed or assembly needed). Then as you make your way to the destination, you will see that Kirk has moved, and is now at the underground heliport. You follow him there, and knock him out, securing him inside the helicopter.

I don't remember that there are 4 endings I just know the Hovercraft Escape where Gail is KIA and the Chopper Escape where all of 4 them are alive. I hope there will be a current gen remake of this, (never liked the sequel) and a popcorn non-woke movie.
