Dino Crisis is a distinct series amongst Capcom's output. In four short years, from 1999 to 2003, we got 3 mainline titles and a spinoff. Dino Crisis has been extinct ever since.
A series pulled from the foundations of Resident Evil to the point where it was known as "resident evil with dinosaurs". It would then take a different, action-heavy approach with future titles.
Each title has a vast difference from the last. Some changes worked, and some did not. A bungled third mainline title would serve as the series end.
Yet the series has lived on with a strong following hankering for Capcom to return to the series.

For some reason this video also made me think of Parasite Eve, so I'm excited to see you do a video on that franchise. I've seen the film, but never read the book so I'm interested in hearing what differences there are between the two.

With Capcom being very profitable nowadays, I wish they would invest some of that money on some of their dormant franchises like Dino Crisis. But with how much AAA games cost to develop nowadays, publishers are less inclined to take risks and experiment than they were in the 90s and even 2000s. Though I think a Dino Crisis remake that is reasonably budgeted would be a success.

Considering how well Dino Crisis did in the recent Capcom Super Election (it was in the top three of almost every category, and won by a landslide in the "most requested sequel" category), don't be surprised if Capcom finally gets the message and realizes how much money Dino Crisis could print for them.
Not sure if it's still going on but Capcom did have a website you could go to to vote on what games you'd like to see remade and franchises to be rebooted and they send you a digital card afterwards.
Just checked ink Ribbons video on the Capcom questionnaire and it's still up and available to take.

That combo system in Dino Crisis 2 really seems like the beginnings of Resident Evil's Mercenaries modes, so I can imagine how fun it must be.
I think the Mercenaries mode in RE3 Nemesis had a similar score mechanic before DC2.

Gonna have to rewatch this. I adore Dino Crisis and I hope the recent poll Capcom did gets them to start producing more for the franchise since it won out in the most requested remake/new entry category. We already get so few dinosaur games as it is, let alone dinosaur horror games. The indie game Dino Trauma was the closest I got to a Dino Crisis feeling dinosaur game. Hell one of the early puzzles is pretty much lifted right out of Dino Crisis.
I hope so.
Capcom is flush with those RE and Monster Hunter profits, so I'd like to see them branch out a little.
Compound Fracture looks more like a Dino Crisis successor. Hope it doesn't release in Early Access.

Kids who adored playing this game were also huge fans of Jurassic park. I lived and breathed both (first only).
I actually learned to love the second one(JP). After the first, it wasn't it for me. After years, it grew on me.
I love this series so much. Sincerely hoping Capcom brings this series back

Adore the first game. One of my top ten ps1 games.
Dino Crisis 2 seems to be somewhat inspired from Segas Deep Fear (1998), the controls with the running and shooting at the same time, mostly eschewing puzzles and instead more combat, basically unlimited refillable ammo at those stations, the underwater section etc.
I appreciate that your reviews seem usually relatively positive.
Personally for me Dino Crisis was my Resident Evil growing up. I really want it to make a comeback with a remake.

I understand your gripes with game remakes Boulder, but I honestly believe that Dino Crisis 1 is a game that would benefit HEAVILY from a remake as it would fix a lot of the issues I have with the original. Namely the lack of filing notes and over reliance on memory test puzzles. Seriously, F*CK those puzzles.
There definitely should've been files but I don't really think that's an issue worth remaking a game over, I realized I should write stuff down pretty early on and then the rest of the game was fine. Realistically though they'll probably do a remake to gauge interest for a new entry
I mean... That's why pretty much everyone recommends taking notes or having a puzzle guide at the ready for this game. And given that it was still pretty common to need to take notes at the time of DC's release I find the puzzles hard to hold against the game.
The day this and 2 get a remake would be amazing. An instant buy for me

I wish we could have had DC 1's story, music, plot, atmosphere and play style but with DC 2's beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds

I'm pretty sure I caught this first time around, although several of the content creators I follow have done this. I never played this game at the time, I've been enjoying the Resident Evil remakes and would love to play a classic game with an updated look. I am absolutely pumped for the Remake of The Thing. Great retrospective.
A remake of Dino Crisis & Onimusha from Capcom would be amazing..
CAPCOM is currently making a new Onimusha game, it got leaked a long time ago along with Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil 9 and a few other games, including Power Stone
I always loved the "That's disgusting line", so oddly B-Movie and charming. I remember renting Dino Crisis from Blockbuster as a kid and playing on the big living room TV. My folks would love to watch games being played, thought the graphics for the PS1 were amazing (like the water ripples in Alone in the Dark: A New Nightmare). And my mum thought it was hilarious how they always moved their hands a lot, and how Rick typed with flat hands. Graphical limitation she knew of course, but she still found it hilarious.
That and the scene in Fear Effect where if you screw up the bomb disarming puzzle, Jin's face of sheer panic. She though that was hilarious too.

I was actually hoping that's what it would be when I first saw the trailer
I beat all three games. The first one is awesome but man did I hate that DDK system. Part two was the most fun and its story was bonkers. Part three I really wanted to like, but it just works against itself so much. I still love all three but they are all widely different and each one never truly felt like a sequel and more like testing for other games to see what people like and don’t like
I think it's funny that just like modern birds dinosaurs saw things in monochorome to hunt day and night and had alot of small ear bones for hearing. due to there sight and second eye lids that block lights it wouldn't see the infer-red lasers. just like birds can't see relfective transparnt severces very well like your windows,

I love dino crisis 1 and 2. but 2 is my favorite. we don't talk about 3, I just wish they released their OG idea for 3 because it is a proper sequel to 2. but 9/11 unfortunately happened and they didn't wanna offend anyone so they made a completely new game in space. also dmc 2 isn't that bad lol dino crisis 3 is def the worse .

First one was great the second incredible fun the wow factor with the quality of the cut scenes. The third absolute trash I never could play it just all the way around trash. I thought dmc 2 was so much better.

Dino Crisis 2 made me love how Capcom makes their shotguns, too bad they almost always never have an infinite ammo version of them in their survivor horror

I bought the third game. God it sucked. Terrible plot, terrible controls, just terrible all around.
The problem with time travel is that you have to establish the rules of how it works within your universe, and stick to them. Legacy of Kain did this exceptionally well, and is one of the few narratives featuring time travel which actually makes sense, and is honestly how I feel time travel would actually work. If you go back and change history, it's because you were always meant to do so, and the present timeline has already accounted for those changes. Even if you DO manage to make a change, time will still flow in such a way as to ensure things still work out almost exactly the same. It's like dropping a pebble in a river; the flow won't be altered in any noticeable or meaningful way. There are very rare exceptions which I won't go into here for the sake of brevity, but even then you risk being expunged from time altogether. History abhors a paradox.
