I'm 67 years old, and I just learned about lithophane! I learned when I explored the local history of my childhood neighborhood in Boston, USA, that we only ever know a small fraction of the past. What we get in 'history' is just a sliver of what life was like even in the recent past.
Kate I hope you had a wonderful trip! I wach your guys videos almost every night to relax and fall asleep and I was watching the one with Tom last night and was surprised to see how small Oscar was then LOL that was almost 2 years ago! Anyhow I hope you enjoyed yourself but I am so glad you're back😼👩👩👦💙💚💛
Love love the lithophane, the amber bead and the little proper girl sitting patiently. Oh I wish I could come to your favorite beach with you, I love all the nishga? Beads you found Kate! My dream would to find these beads and the German? Bearded guy in yellow that looks so cool. A whole little Charlotte would be nice too haha I’m dreaming big here
The second I saw the pottery piece with the man's face on it, I said out loud "That looks like the King!!!" - Hubby from the other room says "What?" LOL, "Nothing" I say, "Just talking to the mud larkers again" 😂😂😂 xx Teresa❤🇦🇺
The cute sitting girl would look great in your doll house sitting on furniture or anything very sweet, and the navy guy is also a great find as my dad was in the navy in WWII he is still here to talk About it And it's the Navy's birthday today!! ⚓⚓
I love watching you all search about for things to re-treasure! I love even more the beautiful and supportive community among the mudlarkers. It's such a pleasure.
The Godesses never fail to entertain and educate. I can see the little key being used in a jewellery box. I wonder if it was lost at some point. Thank you lovely Kate and Mother.
Wow guys that piece of pottery with the head on which you held up to the light is incredible, plus all the other awesome finds, excellent going. Thank you for sharing, take care and stay safe and well 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖🌻🌻🌻🌻
Try pressing polymer clay onto the indented or pressed side of the king image to see if you can make a reverse image which would look like a raised cameo image
Amazing finds as usual, but the Lithophane was shocking, the first thing I thought of when seeing that face was Teddy Roosevelt, yet I knew it wasn't him, no glasses. I am just happy you decided to look at it through light, and make a pleasing surprise. It's always a happy time with very special people like Kit & Caboodlers, no matter the finds.
I still love the excitement from both of you when finding a treasure! I can picture the seated girl on a mirror to look as though her feet were in the water like a pond. I must also say "WOW" again on the Lithophane, I must have said "wow" a dozen times with the occasional "amazing" added in for good measure. Thanks for sharing another great video, until next time, have a great day!
That lithophane is amazing when you think of the work that has gone into it.the likeness of Edwards face as well.you are getting quite a lot of trinkets now for your dolls house cant wait to see it again.take care.🐱
My mother-in-law has a set of tea cups from Okinawa, where she was as a girl when her father was in the US Military, that has lithophane images of the princess of Japan (I think) in the bottom of the cups. When you to up the cup to drink the tea, you look into the cup and see the image. I can't believe you found one of those. So cool!!!
That key looks like a key to a mantle clock. I suppose you have mantle clocks there. There was one keyhole to wind the clock and another to set the time. I always felt special when grandma let me help her wind or change the time.
AAAAAHHH!!!! The Lithophane(?) is my favorite even though you two found some amazing items! I can not believe the small and beautiful finds you two can see, I think you are the champs of the greatest small finds. Have a beautiful week Kaboodlers! Thank you for taking us on this adventure.
The Lithophane was a very cool find. I've watched so many British mudlark videos, i kept saying that's King George. But then when it was held to the light. Amazing detail. I've seen full panels of girls on the British Antiques Road Show episodes from 2001 to present. So I knew what it was. Great find of the bluing jug.
Lovely finds as always ladies, but now you've found something that the other mudlarks will be adding quickly onto their bucket list 😉. The process of realization of what exatly it is, was precious.
Queens of the dolls!! We just don’t know how you do it! 😂😍 always finding awesome doll pieces, love it. That big juicy stoneware is gorgeous and unexpected complete on that beach. SNAP on the doggy pipe! 😍 but I’m weirdly particularly jealous of that little key, I think that’s my favourite of your finds this time. obviously that litho piece is insane though!!
That lithophane is incredibly awesome. I never heard of them before and it’s amazing how when light is applied from behind it appears as a clear photograph like out of nowhere. I would love to find one of those, as well. Great finds ladies and many thanks for sharing!
Wow❣️ how exciting it was to watch you both find such Amazing finds. I love that you look up the history of some of the items and what you do with other items you find for you beautiful doll house..🥰
Ok that lithophane pottery piece is so cool! I loved the 3 2 1 moment when you realized what it was! Especially since one of the whole example pics you showed was Half Dome in Yosemite! 35:38 I see that every day going to work and makes me want to ask our museum curator if we have something like that in the archives...Other finds were great too, a whole stoneware bottle, and the faceted amber glass bead is really nice as well.
Hi Guys the number 7 is probably from a foundry where they use cast reverse metal letters and numbers to nail to the wooden patterns so the castings have the writing the correct way around.
Near me in the Lake District is a place called Backbarrow with Whitewater. Factories came there due to the powerful river. Prior to it becoming a hotel now it was a Ultramarine Blue factory nicknamed the 'Dolly Blue Factory' used in washing powder, paint, printing etc. Part of the factory is now the Lakeland Motor Museum. When we drove passed it as children we all looked out for the 'Blue Factory' which famously as it was in production turned the river Blue! Thankfully it is not like that now! Would love to go to that beach. I live on an island off Barrow in Furness and I doubt if I could, would find items like that! Thank you for your videos. As almost housebound these videos are a big highlight of my day.
I am sorry to hear you are mostly housebound. I hope you are well regardless p.s a blue river would be a crazy ting to see but obviously terrible for the environment haha :)
We love this spot, amazing finds. We found another part of the same train spongeware pattern which looks like it came from the same pot. A great find Thank you for a lovely video Best wishes Mark and Julie New Romney 👍⭐️👍⭐️
That was a lovely place to mudlark and you both found some nice things. Lovely pottery shards and that lithophane piece was amazing. I wonder if that 7 wasn't for setting into something like a grave stone? Lovely views of the estuary. Thank you and have a good week
Just a wee tip to help you with the sieve. Taking out the larger unwanted bits before you search through the material will make it much easier to see the smaller treasures. Dumping it out on a clear flat surface might make it easier as well. Hope this helps. I swear I can smell the algae of the beach from here 😁 🇨🇦.
That’s the first lithophane that I’ve seen so close up! Great to see the details when you held it to the light! I think you might call your little sitting girl Miss Maude Larking,
Love all your fabulous finds and treasures!!! You should make a lovely piece of jewelry with that crystal that has the holes in it!! Thank you for sharing 💎👍❤
I thought of a good idea on what to do with the clay pipes that are broken in half. You could glue them onto a small plate to make a flower holder for doll house flowers. You can even do broken cups too.
Oh I cannot wait ….one of the best parts of the week is a K&C video !! 🙌🏼 That piece of lithophane is incredible!! Absolutely one of the most amazing treasures I’ve ever seen someone find. Congratulations 🎉 Fleur. 🥰🌼
My favorite is the bluing pot. I love stoneware. My Grandmother used to use bluing in the 40’s and 50’s when she did laundry for professional men such as lawyers and bankers and the local bakery owner, he was very particular about the starch in his shirts. You can still get bluing here in the States. Hard to choose a favorite after that as there so many unusual finds.
Fantastic finds ladies! I love the items you find on that beach. That etched piece of glass would be lovely as a window or the window in a door for the dolls house! Id love to see the dolls house again! Michigan 🐦🎃🇺🇸
42:17 its for casting no. 7 into several 7s, push it on water level sand mold your desired amount, pour hot silver/kobber/iron/gold - or is it opposite? 🙂
Nice sieve, amazing what tiny finds you can recover. Loved the faceted amber bead. Johnny Walker, one of my favourites! Couldn't believe it when you pulled that bottle from a nest of flying ants, made me laugh. The little melted bottles are like individual pieces of art, really attractive. Really miss seeing your face on reactions during the round up.
We will be hopefully be doing a face on round up in our next video which is a the first in a two part Halloween special! Two very exciting films hopefully haha! :)
I loved your finds today the George magic glass is particularly interesting and so exciting thanks so much love your channel from Cape Town South Africa
Beautiful lithophane, something I’ve never heard of, but a great find. All of the finds are great especially the dog, I love animals. Thanks for taking us along. I learned something new.
To me it doesn't matter when you post your videos what matters to me is having the pleasure of being able to watch them. I know this is probably silly but I always feel like I am visiting a family of whom I am always welcome to come and visit. The same holds true with many of the mudlarking channels I watch. It makes me long to be able to afford a trip to Britain so I could meet everyone in person.💖
Love watching your channel as always and the lithophane of King Edward VII is amazing. Keep up the excellent finds and the history behind the find. :-)
A up you two. Ho I do like to be beside the sea side. Hunting for treasure. Happy day's away init. Love you all. From are Steven. Stay safe you all Stay alive 🙏 ❤
Amazing piece of pottery. With the face, my favorite now too!! That screen is a fine screen they make all different screen sizes. Maybe nice for cleaning/rinsing off small items, so you don't lose them. Lot of slag and brick on that beach. Reminds me of the Hudson River in the United States.
Great finds, Ladies! Fun Fact: There are a loads of places now that will convert your own photograph into a lithophane item (your choice) using 3-D printing technology. Be careful of the bluing still left in that jar! At full strength it is a right beast to remove from almost all surfaces! The blue-ing solution was, and still is, used to counteract the yellowing that often occurs in white laundry. This works because blue-violet, which the solution actually is, is opposite yellow on the color wheel. The other opposites are red to green and blue to orange. We used to use a little when washing the white tail of my first horse! LOL And hair salons still use a purple-blue temp rinse on white hair that has a yellow tinge. The 'Germander Speedwell Collection' has a picture of your Thistle heel pipe! Greetings from Florida!
I remember my mother using blueing to brighten whites. Iadded a very light blue tinge to clothing making whites look brighter and whiter. It came in a glass bottle, but it seems from your find that they sold it in stoneware bottles. It worked well. Then I rember her using it with some other kitchen/laundry chemicals in water and I think either ammonia or vinegar. It would grow a crystal in a glass or bottle and was fun inexpensive fun for us as children. Nice finds. I especially like that etched glass face that you held up to the light. Thanks for your wonderful and fun videos.
The lithophane of the King is so shockingly goergous! How on earth did they do that? I am going to look some stuff up! It's so beautifully done with amazing taste. I love it! In antiquity and archeologist, even academia constantly, under estimate the people from ancient to resent history, and there are things that we today can't figure out some ancient artifacts that haven not been figured out yet, due to the academia under estimation when it comes to some artifacts. This is just an example of how much more talented and artistically, clever they truly where.
Somehow I recognized King Edward VII almost as soon as the dirt was wiped off. I find this amusing as I am American from California. So far away from The British Isles. But your revelation was very entertaining. I will admit to being envious of your opportunities for discovery.
I'm 67 years old, and I just learned about lithophane! I learned when I explored the local history of my childhood neighborhood in Boston, USA, that we only ever know a small fraction of the past. What we get in 'history' is just a sliver of what life was like even in the recent past.
The piece of porcelain with the lithopane is truly amazing! So glad you decided to look toward the light.
Beautiful find!
What a lovely lark. I just love watching the two of you, Very precious people.

And it's the Navy's birthday today!! ⚓⚓
Ha that is appropriate :)
I liked when you said "sorry" to the flying insects when you turned over the rock they were living under. 🌝
:) :) :)
The little leg with the boot could be the sign for your doll hospital, like a shop sign… “At the sign of the boot…”
I love watching you all search about for things to re-treasure! I love even more the beautiful and supportive community among the mudlarkers. It's such a pleasure.
We are definitely part of a great community, viewers and channels alike :)
The Godesses never fail to entertain and educate. I can see the little key being used in a jewellery box. I wonder if it was lost at some point. Thank you lovely Kate and Mother.
That`s why keys are such an intriguing find, they open up endless possibilities :)
@@MudlarkingWithKitCaboodlers I see what you did there! Another great video.
Thank you for sharing an actual "eureka" moment with us, very exciting! Well done all!
It definitely took us by surprise haha :)

Glad you enjoyed it :) :) :)
I think you should build a tree with a swing...or a porch swing for your lil sitting girl at your doll house.
What a lovely idea :)
Ladies what a wonderful day. Fleur you had a winning day for sure. Have a lovely weekend :)
Thank you! You too! :) :)
Another week another magical adventure thank you
:) :):)
Beautiful dress Kate. 🙂👋
Try pressing polymer clay onto the indented or pressed side of the king image to see if you can make a reverse image which would look like a raised cameo image
That would be interesting :)
You should make an ornament out of the sponge wear train! Nice finds!
We may make a Christmas decoration :)
Amazing finds as usual, but the Lithophane was shocking, the first thing I thought of when seeing that face was Teddy Roosevelt, yet I knew it wasn't him, no glasses. Thank you Paddy! We feel refreshed from our holiday :) :)
You are such a remarkable mom dry out there with your kids doing things that makes you very special I love your family

That lithophane is amazing when you think of the work that has gone into it.the likeness of Edwards face as well.you are getting quite a lot of trinkets now for your dolls house cant wait to see it again.take care.🐱

I love the fact you both get excited about the same lovely find. Thank you for your amazing videos

They sound really lovely, I may have to have a little search on ebay haha :)
Yes China had the king and his wife in the bottom of a cup. I have seen one. Fabulous looking.
I want a cup like that now haha :)
That key looks like a key to a mantle clock. I suppose you have mantle clocks there. There was one keyhole to wind the clock and another to set the time. I always felt special when grandma let me help her wind or change the time.
We have Mantle clocks they are wonderful :)
I got goosebumps when you revealed that image in the Lithophane! Truly amazing. Lovely finds.
It was like magic when the image appeared! :)

Thank you so much Julianne! We look for the small as there is very little big where we visit haha :)
That face on the pottery is amazing when you held it up to the light a really interesting video.
Thank you Susan :)
Lots of interesting treasure. My favs are the stoneware and the melted bottle. And of course the king.

I think I was caught up in his odd looking ear to recognise without the light shining through him :) :)
Lovely finds as always ladies, but now you've found something that the other mudlarks will be adding quickly onto their bucket list 😉. The process of realization of what exatly it is, was precious.
Ha, honestly only we could discover such a thing while doing a round up :)

Edward VII and amazing tiny find
That lithophane is incredibly awesome. I never heard of them before and it’s amazing how when light is applied from behind it appears as a clear photograph like out of nowhere. I would love to find one of those, as well. Great finds ladies and many thanks for sharing!

I remember many many many years ago putting blueing in sheets and towels. We has a ringer washer then.
Ok that lithophane pottery piece is so cool! I loved the 3 2 1 moment when you realized what it was! I have a terrible habit of not really knowing how cool something I have found is until I get home haha :)
Hi Guys the number 7 is probably from a foundry where they use cast reverse metal letters and numbers to nail to the wooden patterns so the castings have the writing the correct way around.
Thank you, a few people have said the same :)
Love the Lithophane. I have only seen it on the bottom of teacups. I also like the unusual Willow pattern.
Yes I think this piece is quite unusual :)

Yes I thought I had seen it in one of your videos. Obviously a popular piece in Kent! K&C :)
That was a lovely place to mudlark and you both found some nice things. Lovely pottery shards and that lithophane piece was amazing. I wonder if that 7 wasn't for setting into something like a grave stone? Lovely views of the estuary. Thank you and have a good week
Others have also mentioned gravestones. Perhaps we should have saved this film for Halloween with ghostly faces and grave markers! :)
@@MudlarkingWithKitCaboodlers yes but I'm sure you have a great video for Halloween. Maybe a crafting one.
I enjoyed all your finds the one I love the best that you each found is the shelf sitter darling girl and the bitstream leg
Incredible how the pottery has an intact face too , amazed xx
I love it when that happens :)
The Lithophane pottery is truly stunning! Loving all the legs, arms and beads and cabs you found :)
It was definitely a surprise haha :)
That’s the first lithophane that I’ve seen so close up! Great to see the details when you held it to the light! I think you might call your little sitting girl Miss Maude Larking,
Miss Maude Larking is a cute name :) :)
Lithophanes are amazing!
Edward VII, BTW.
Love all your fabulous finds and treasures!!! You should make a lovely piece of jewelry with that crystal that has the holes in it!! Thank you for sharing 💎👍❤
So fun ,all the treasures 🤗🍃🍁🌿🍂🌾🌹💞
I thought of a good idea on what to do with the clay pipes that are broken in half. You could glue them onto a small plate to make a flower holder for doll house flowers. You can even do broken cups too.
Lovely idea :)
Oh I cannot wait ….one of the best parts of the week is a K&C video !! 🙌🏼
That piece of lithophane is incredible!! Absolutely one of the most amazing treasures I’ve ever seen someone find. Congratulations 🎉 Fleur. 🥰🌼
Thank you so much, it definitely took me by surprise haha :)
STUNNING guessed was Edward the king when was found, but OMG up to the light I was in awe looked stunning
After you found little doll then a bottle as you looked and left there was a bracelet a charm with… hearts or something
My favorite is the bluing pot. I love stoneware. The English Make button might be the end of a winder for an oil lamp wick - they are about the same diameter and thickness of a button.
Interesting will have to look closer :)
Somehow I recognized King Edward VII almost as soon as the dirt was wiped off. I find this amusing as I am American from California. So far away from The British Isles. But your revelation was very entertaining. I will admit to being envious of your opportunities for discovery.
So many good finds, what a lovely day too. Do you think the backward seven could be a stamp? ☀
I think so perhaps :)
Everything IS SO BEAUTIFUL ! !!,! 😅😆
