- This week we mudlarked a very muddy foreshore we have only visited once before. We went after a torrential rain and thunder storm to see what we could find uncovered by the waves! We were not disappointed and found some unusual, rare and beautiful things. Come with us and see what we found in the gloopy gloopy mud!
We have started a patreon page for anyone wishing to support us.

Tell Oscar he did excellent with the round up.
I will :)
Sitting here with my old dog. He sleeps now. The orange cat cuddles happily up against me enjoying the warmth on a sudden cool summer day. Roddy, the big white dog, has come to the end of his winter. Goodbyes and final hugs for him. Thank you all my friends. Your happiness warms me.
Never mind Mudlarking you could be nature photographers. Loving it and worth the wait. I have no idea how you spotted that tiny white bead, your eyes have become so attuned.
Wow! that cobalt blue stopper was worth the whole trip! Great finds, thanks for bringing us along :)
Wonderful finds! And I adore your youngest and you playing at the end ♡ he was so cute helping you.
Oscar did a great job! I have to say, just me personally, I liked the roundups better when they were laid in front of you with Sunny giving his approval 😊
We may do some like that again but we like to change things up to keep it interesting :)
Great finds!!! And oh...I love Kate's rabbit earrings!!! Oscar is so adorable! Glad he enjoyed playing the game. Can't wait for the next video! Have a great weekend!
Oscar is a delight to watch, full of curiosity and determination. Your finds were interesting and I look forward to seeing the craft items made from them or groupings/collections eg perfume stoppers. Just to see the variety. Thank you for this video & thank you for being such a good mother, your children are a credit to you.
Ahh thank you very much :)
The sweetest horrified face of Oscar when you said cat guts, remarkable, like you said "he's too cute" 😁
Hahaha it was a picture! :)
I wonder how long ago it was when someone last played with those game pieces. That's really cool. 👍
Such beautiful and unusual finds! Thanks for sharing these with us!
Thank you for watching :)
Great to see Oscar doing so well in front of the camera.
He is getting better and better bless him :)
Oscar that reminds me I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed when you did that snippet of video while Kate was out in the mud a few videos ago. I loved your 🐝 china and you did a great job filming! it is so cool that we get to watch you grow up! great job Oscar 🐝💯
Oscar is going to be more involved in the channel over the Summer holidays :)
I think what you do is so cool. It's a part of archeology in your past. Y'all take care stay safe and God bless
As always a great video. Oscar you are amazing on camera, well done. Thank you and stay safe.
I loved this round-up- so natural and spontaneous! I'd love to just sit down with you all for dinner and talk!!
Ah thank you! :)
Some wonderful and amazing finds ladies
Fab as ever! Hope Kate doesn't work too hard! 😦 It is great to see Fleur and Oscar playing 5 stones! Looks like a fun game.
Lots of amazing finds after he storm! That blue stopper and the hatpin are stunning :) Great job Oscar to help with the round up !!! Nicole & Craig
You really must come down this way, you would absolutely love treasure beach for beads and gems! :)
The blue glass stopper is stunning. The buffalo pipe bowl is great. The dogs head is cute. Love Kates rabbit earrings. Five stones is the same game as fives, yes?
Hi guys. I think the glass bottle stopper with the hole is one of the deadly babies feeding bottle ones. The rubber tube would have gone in the middle.. lovely to see Oscar! He’s becoming the real little film star! Take care.x
That is a possibility, I am going to have to research this :)
This outing was a pure delight!!
I missed Kate in the round up, but it was great having Oscar. He is such a cutie. Hooray for getting all four gobbies! Work is good, but it's not allowed to interfere with your mudlarking. 😉
:) :) :)
Maybe a serving plate with 3 feet or more. Lovely to see Oscar
He IS just TOO cute!!! ❤🇦🇺
Your photography is truly something else. I really enjoy the vibe.
Wow indeed awesome blue stopper.
Have you ever considered taking a bottle next, grinding down the jagged edges, placing tiny beach glass in it then closing off both ends with clear glass and creating a kaleidoscope?
Please do not feel you required to apologize for you home. Life does go on. It’s called family life.
My house is very family at the moment, full of things but as you say it`s life :)
Another great video I am amazed with the beautiful things you find.
Could that terracotta bit be a leg for a pot. Some great finds and good pronunciations xx
Thank you!😆 great film!
I love watching you on TH-cam! Thanks for the entertainment.
31:25 that cobalt bottle stopper was an absolute top find. It was so very beautiful to see after you gave it a bit of a wash 🤩
I wonder if the light blue glass gem might be the handle from the lid of a glass candy dish or sugar bowl.
Awesome finds
The oval jewelery piece is for mounting cabachons.
Donna, It seems they may have at least a bead that would fit into it. Would also be a very nice frame for a stained glass pendant or doll house decor. : )
Oscar is fantastic, so patient 🌼
Thankyou for playing gobs.. I still would love to learn knucklebones
Really enjoyed this so much.
Never apologise for living...mess?
I didn't notice anything messy myself. I was thinking how interesting your home looked. Lots of things to look at.
I think its the small things ypu find and are interested in that i enjoy most from your finds. Such very interesting little treasures.
I love also that you make use of your found objects and enjoy to see what you make from them.
Re the Gobbies, years ago my hubby found a partially made one in our garden...or a very worn one? Always wondered what it was and always kept hold of it.
Playing that game reminded me of playng Jacks as a child. A very homely and comforting end to this extended post. What a lovely young man you have there. X
Love the blue stopper
Great muddy finds love watching the videos. Give the kitty a pet from me🐈⬛and Oscar is a cutie🥰
Your family warms an old mans heart. Keep safe.
Ahh thank you Paddy :) x
Oscar is so handsome!
I agree (but I am biased as his mother haha)
Thanks for filling
in Oscar.
The blue bottle stopper was fab x so lucky
Some great finds after the storm take care xxxx
I enjoyed that ladies and Oscar you have got your camera and camera work down to a tee 👍👍👌👌 ps and greet finds😃
Thank you so much :)
Hi Oscar! Good job with the roundup!
Love your videos!
It may be part of a roof tile. Roman or medieval.
Really enjoyed your video love the excitement in your voice’s it’s a great to watch your videos keep making them Oscar did well
Oscar did an excellent job of helping you
with the round up . I've been very curious
about the knuckle bones games . Thanks
to you both for demonstrating the game .
It was apparent that the knuckle bones
name for the game was meant to be
Literal origin , as well as a description of how much it caused the players to rap their
own knuckles painfully while playing the
game . Oscar bravely endured the same
kind of knuckle pain I'm sure many many
Centuries of children and adults did in their
Quests to become Knucklebone Champions . Perhaps he can teach the
game to his friends . Oscar is truely the
Apple of your family's eyes . He is a
Treasure . Reminds me of my own son's
and grandsons .
The bottle stop with the hole clear through reminds me of the old tin coffee
Percolators of the 1940's or so. I think they
Had little vent holes in the glass stopper/
Knobs attached to the tin lids ,or a hole for
a screw and nut to attach the glass knob
to the tin lids Vague memory . Just a vague
possibility .
I wonder if the glazed flat piece with the
heavy large knob underneath might be a
small piece of a large medieval platter
used for large gatherings of feasters .
some kind of platter for sliced meats ,
cheeses , etc. Maybe you might find out
from one of the Mudlarkers who studies
Medieval or Roman pottery or from a museum .
This was a lovely mudlarking video .
Thanks for sharing . Anne Minnick , Massachusetts , USA . Carpe Diem.
Wow thank you for that information very much appreciated :)
I ❤️ your little doggie earrings
Think the cobalt blue stopper was best, think James Bond likes his drinks shaken, not stirred, probably even more if it's perfume.
have you ever thought or have done mosaics with all those beautiful glass pieces?
Nancy, If not, I certainly have thought of it for them, every time I see anyone out there mudlarking and leaving such beautiful glass pieces behind. Lol
We are thinking what to do with the glass, we may try a form of stain glass maybe :)
@@MudlarkingWithKitCaboodlers , Right before I read your comment about the stained glass, I made a comment about the small metal frame being a good candidate for a miniature stained glass pendant or window for the doll house. You could start with that? : )
What is a gobby..? Please explain more of the story of each piece for those of us who don't live in the UK...! THANK YOU..!
You must place your hand or another solid color background behind each item to allow the camera to focus. The camera will focus much easier this way as it is being shown more directly to focus on something specific! He was a lovely helper!
Yes I know this but I was a bit discombobulated! haha :)
Hooray Oscar
I love your enthusiasm, your approach to exploring and discovering things is very like my own. But please, what is a gobby? I couldn't find any reference images or anything...you referred to that ridged cube that's kind of dice like as a gobby? I'm from the US, we definitely don't have anything like that here. Love to learn!
Go Oscar!
I love your rabbit earrings where can I get myself a pair ❤️ love your videos
I think Kate bought them on ebay :)
Its the bottom of a very large serving bowl/plate and the blob thingy is the foot mybe 3/4 on the bottom..
I hope .lol x .jen.x
hold the magnifying glass above the object and look down on it don't hold near eye!
Somehow that is the only way I can use it without my glasses on haha :)
Wonderful finds ,that thing you have found could it be a lid of a strange bottle. ? Your friend shirley from new Bern, north carolina u.s.a. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I think the bottle stop with a hole in it may have been from one those dangerous baby bottles. They had a tube coming out the lid
Could that clear glass bottle stopper be what is left of an old safty fuse? The old cabin I use to liev in, over in Clearfield, had an old fuse box (not a switch box) that used clear glass safty fuses.
I did wonder if it was electrical :)
I was wondering how you played that that's kind of how you play jax only you bounce the ball and picked them up and cutch the ball so it's pretty close to Jax
Not sure that is exactly how it was played but close haha :)
What does Kate work with, misser her and i loved the finds and how cute is Oscar 🙏🏻😄👍🏻
She works in television helping to make sets :)
Could that pice of pottery you found with the odd rounded lump be the foot of a pot maybe?
I live very close to Buxton!!
And Oscar, I'm with you... China scraping China is a horrid sound
You should give the dog head a stuffed body and make him a critter.
That is a brilliant idea! Watch this space :)
The glazed on top, weird bung thing on the bottom...could that be the seat of an old toilet?
Possibly we are unsure what it is still :)
3:30 looks like a pipe bowls to your left
Do you girls ever lift up the sea grass to see what's underneath??
Gals with dirty fingernails are the best.
What are you recording with? The microphone records your voice so nicely
Do yall ever have Tornadoes
Why are so many artifacts on that beach.
To be honest I am not sure with this one, either they dumped rubbish that they dug out for construction somewhere or it is eroding out! :)
What is a gubby?
I love the excitement in Kates voice, the smile on her face when a find amazes her. I love Oscar's cuteness! Wonderful video as always.
Thank you so much!
How many Mums will play 5 stones with there child as my Mum did with me over 50 years ago, a childhood memory not just of the game but of my mother too.
Time is the most precious thing you can give a child and its free ;)
that blue diamond glass you found would make a great gas lamp for out side the dolls house
The camera work is amazing! So pretty, even in the rain. You can use the broken doll's leg and add a little peg on the end to make a pirate doll.
Excellent idea Jeannie! 😊
We made a Pirate once at Halloween :)
You're all so happy about little things.
When you are crawling around in mud on a windy beach the smallest find becomes very very beautiful haha :)
Used to love playing Jax , they were silver metal, sort of spikey 'sputnik' shaped, best played on a smooth pavement, you would toss them over the ground and use a small rubber ball taking it in turns to pick up one, then two etc until all the Jax were picked up. .the one who got the most at the end won. The most I could pick up in one go was 17, not bad considering I had such small hands then....in the summer we would play for hours, such simpler times.
My aunts were adept at jacks. They had additional moves, I remember being very young watching them play. They had one challenge as the game went on called "pig in a poke" they'd slide the jacks into a cave of sorts their free hand made. Very long ago. But this game reminded me of jacks as well. Good for hand eye coordination.
@@bluesingmusic3443 Oh I remember that now you mention it but we called it 'stables' we also played 'Around the World' where you had to circle your hand around the ball before picking up the jax and then catching the ball, also remember having to catch the jax on the back of your hands to see who would go first...happy days..lol
@@lynnhamps7052 yes I remember that too. TBH I could barely get past, 2s. LoL
Ah! My favourite line! “It’s a Beeeeeeead!”.
Hahaha I suppose it is kinda our catch phrase :)
that cobalt blue stopper was the best find so beautiful
Bless you Oscar . Wow you found some awesome treasures, can’t wait to see what you guys do with some of the glass and china . God bless and stay safe and well 🙏🙏🥰🥰👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️
Lovely to see Oscar on the roundup, the Gobby match was funny.
In one of the old Thumbelina books, she slept in a walnut shell. 😊
You guys are such a cute family. Stay that way🌹
Hello beautiful video, mystery item looks like roof tile, I think the blob is to keep it on please, thank you.
send some of that weather this way. mid 30's C and enough wildfire smoke to choke a giant.
love that beautiful blue stopper and amazing pipe bowls thanks for sharing Oscar keep playing you will master the game.
Oscar is a precious child! He is smart and funny and so loving ❤️ Thank you Oscar for doing such a wonderful round up with your mom!! 🎉🎉🎉
the unknown item could be a roof tile they find them from posh houses on time team and other such programmes
Thank you :)
Such a beautiful family. A lovely video showing some sweet little finds. Thank you for filming in such windy wet weather for us. Well done Oscar at grasping the game of 'five jacks'. All of you take care.
