    Hi Catherine, I really enjoyed your video. Some of the patterns you mentioned are in my stash but I haven't made yet. Great insight into solving fit issues and I giggled at your description of midriff spread. Share your joy there as well.😂 Thanks for sharing your sewing escapades. 🥰

    Hi Catherine! I love your Staley top. I've made both versions before but wanted to make the T version w long sleeves for my sister so it's good to see how it looks. Also really like the longer length. I love that Tacara dress! I have to go look at your video on that one. OMG that Jenna is SO CUTE!!! definitely want to make that one. Really like Closet Core patterns her instructions are really good. 🤗

      @sewmuchsewing  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Gini 👋yep I love me a Staley top, definitely a 'go to' for me. I've used a merino before and loved that for a more elevated look. Yes to Jenna, do it! She's so cute. I can definitely see you finding the Tacara Dress useful, I think its such an easy dress to wear and I'm planning a tee-shirt 👕 version with the much wider sleeve opening and really shortened.

    Tower plackets are so fiddly, but with practice they really shine! And in the busy print you really can't tell that they aren't perfect.

    • @sewmuchsewing
      @sewmuchsewing  16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes! So hard to get right. I think I might see if I can use a little strip of fusible webbing on the top pointy bits of the towers next time to see if I can stick them down in the right place before I sew them. Wish me luck!

      @@sewmuchsewing that is a great idea! I love "wonder tape" for little bits like that - double sided water soluble tape, very thin. Don't know if it's sold where you are but it's gloriously useful.

    Lovely to watch your video this morning. I appreciate you sharing your measurements because they are very similar to mine; being able to compare sizing and grading is very helpful. PLUS you are familiar with the wonderful Pattern Emporium and Love Notions; I have many of their patterns. I look forward to following along with you on your sewing journey. Best wishes from Sydney. 💖😁👍🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🇦🇺🇳🇿

      Hi there, it almost sounds like we are sewing twins!!! I agree, it is so good to see patterns made up on someone who looks very similar to yourself body-wise. I'd love to chat specifics with you if you ever feel the need, it can be hard judging how/what to do adjustment-wise to make a pattern fit so a sounding board is always useful. And when I say that I mean that you will be just as helpful for me too, because I am certainly no expert! I hope that makes sense... See you again soon!

    I have just found you this morning and what a joy you are 😊 Loved to hear about your break and now back at it. I often have breaks from dressmaking but always have some crafting on the go. Knitting or crochet always to hand and quilting and cross stitch as well.
    I am in Northern Ireland and just heading into Autumn although we didn’t really get a summer this year just the odd day was warm and I made a couple of dresses and have a white shirt cut out and need to get it sewn up.
    I do love your shirt and haven’t made that pattern but it could be on the list now 😂 I need a couple of new night dresses and you have inspired me to get a pattern out and get them made as they are not difficult!
    Thanks again for inspiration and I will catch up with your older vlogs xx

      Alison hi! I'm so glad you found my channel 😄. I have been loving my comfy new nighties... go on... make some for yourself! It kind of felt like a luxury or a bit frivolous to make nighties for myself but I'm so glad that I did. It sounds like you are a busy person with your crafting, amazing. Making things is so satisfying, such a great hobby to have and the ' peace' it brings is like spending thousands on therapy 🤣🤣. I look forward to seeing you again soon. Hello Catherine. I know your preference is for over sized, but I agree with all the other comments: the Jenna looks perfect on you. And I like the metallic snaps. Funny about your mismatching tower plackets. I like making shirts and I don't have a problem with the sleeve plackets, but I can't get the join between the collar stand and the front placket perfect. Drives me bonkers - and they're right there, front and centre. No hiding! For some silly reason I decided to make trousers with back welt pockets with flaps and, like your plackets, one is acceptable and one is just plain wonky. Oh well. Anyway, I can't see them when I'm wearing them! And the pants are still fun - Waffle Patterns Walnoot Wide Leg sailor style pants.

    • @sewmuchsewing
      @sewmuchsewing  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh dear! How frustrating with your collar plackets! I don't say mine are perfect by any stretch of the imagination but certainly better than my tower packets 😁I'm scared of welt pockets. Many years ago I made a leather vest for my son's father and lined it in a jersey fabric (why jersey you ask? I dunno! Young and dumb I guess) and I did a welt pocket in the lining. I think I didn't know back then that it was a bit of an advanced technique, even in a woven fabric let alone jersey.... needless to say the experience put me off welt pockets for life. Though I suppose I should put my big girl's pants on an try them again one day... 🤔. I hadn't heard of Waffle Patterns before so thank you for mentioning them, they have some amazing designs! 😆.

      @fionajohnson5842 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I've made a few Waffle Patterns patterns and really enjoy making them. Maybe their block suits my body shape a bit better than some others, ie a rectangle without much of a waist. I thought I'd try the sailor pants to see if the buttons might give the illusion of a waist and I think it actually does a bit.

    Great vlog! Really wide variety of garments to show us and I particularly like the Jenna shirt. When you described how your midriff spreads out I shouted to screen , ‘ mine too!’nice to know I’m in good company. I can also say my thighs follow suit😂I made the Tessa sheath dress from LN from the @dahliasewciety fabric you swapped with StaceyJ. I love their patterns. I have PE patterns too but my first attempt was a bit of a disaster(user error NOT the pattern) and I’ve lost confidence. It hasn’t stopped me from buying their patterns but I’m still scared to try them. Yes… I confuse myself with the way my brain works😵‍💫 It’s good to have you back and looking forward to seeing your next makes. See you next vlog.

      🤣🤣🤣 Oh my gosh... that dreaded tummy spread thing!!! I'm sorry you have to deal with it... but I'm glad I'm not the only one 🤣🤣. Pattern Emporium instructions are every bit as easy and helpful as Love Notions, when you feel up to it give them another go, I'm sure you wont be disappointed (especially since you keep buying their patterns... so funny... a girl after my own spendy heart ❤). But I know what you mean about one 'disaster' putting you off trying again. We are so HARD on ourselves aren't we? Be kinder to yourself... and I'll see you again soon 🙋‍♀

    Your shirt looks great Catherine, cannot see any issues with the busy print. I have ordered some Nerida Hansen Christmas fabric also, I hope to get it by the end of November 🤞 all your makes are lovely, maybe you need to measure yourself again, you like me have much slimmer legs than your middle which can be challenging for pants, but I love your casual pants they look very comfortable. Have a great sewing week, Deb

    Hi I just sewed two Jennas the first a cropped the second the longer length both XL. I slightly stuffed same things. But the cropped turned out well. With the Buttonhole the program starts from the front and goes backwards you have to do the top buttonhole upside down as it needs fabric behind it. You do need a medium weight fabric as the shirt requires a lot of sewing. My second Jenna was difficult for me in a light voile.
