This was super helpful. I have rope soloed walls using a grig. It's ok. It what I use for short fixing, however I have always wanted to use my silent partner and haven't known exactly how. Great vid. Thanks.
If you are clipping the first bolt as your anchor... you said it yourself that bolt holes are drilled a downward angle. A fall is then pulling the first bolt on an even closer angle to its drilling than if you were to anchor slightly away from the wall.
Two things about that. First, a friend is a videographer and he is going to help me remake this video much better. Second, the reason I was using a protrax was because I felt at the time that the position of the pulley made it a little easier to pull slack. I have since changed my mind. The micro is so much less bulky and it feeds just fine. Not quite as smooth, but it’s negligible. Hope that helps!
Yes. Bolts are angled down slightly and are stronger when pulled in that direction. However, I string two together and equalize them. The forces involved are pretty minimal and I’ve been doing it for years. There is additional danger involved in lead rope soloing. If you have a tree or a Boulder handy that doesn’t redirect the force in an even worse way then do it!

Single bolt anchor, first two bolts factor 2 fall potential. Just find a partner. Climbing with friends is more fun anyway

Why do you use a protraxion instead of the lighter microtraxion? You mentioned the protraxion has advantages...but you didn't say what they are.

But the bolt you use as anchor, will it not get the wrong directional force on it, as it will get pulled up and not down when you fall?
