"During the Spanish era, Kalibo was part of Capiz. Aklan continued to be part of Capiz during the early 20th century. When the Americans came, they annexed financially-struggling towns with bigger towns in the whole country, reducing the number of municipalities in Capiz from 34 to 24." - A very interesting history I got from Wikipedia.
With all infrastructure projects everywhere, I wish Philippines emphasize long term planning. In shipping ports, it needs planning and plenty of room close to the pier otherwise it will get crowded with ringky dinky eye sores buildings close to the port/pier. Philippines will become a major Asian business player if the government plans it right.

True, that was actually a good deal, these days when you get off the plane from NAIA airport, the airport shuttle tries to swindle you with a 2,000 pesos ($40 dollars) charge from NAIA to BGC which is less than 5 miles. Anyway, nice gesture although I didn't see any tears from him, hehe, oh well, I'm sure he was very grateful
Wow! A lot of potential. Love the waterfront/airport. I love Dumaguete, but Kalibo is more affordable, and may become the better choice. I plan on being a tropical snowbird since my Pinay still has to work 7 years for her early age 62 retirement and I'm 66. Yjis winter I'll probably just have a vacation, but after that maybe 6 months each year. We have a house in Mindanao so I'm not interested in owning, I have a friend in Duma with a small outbuilding I will convert to a mini-apt., but will AirBnB around. My plan is to recruit a band and sing for the expat community, at first I'll perform with backing tracks and can also do Karaoke shows. All with Battery powered speakers. Would love to sing Gordon Lightfoot's song Sundown, and maybe Wreck of the Edsmond Fitsgerald at the Canadian Beaver. I sing over 1,000 songs. A lot of old country, a bit of new country, and a wide range of rock.
@@remote1426 Dumaguete isn't that great, but its located centrally for where I want to go. 3 hour ferry ride to Mindanao followed bt 4 hours bus to where my wife is from and we have a home and family. So I believe she’s saying BamI pancit, which is Visayan or Cebuano I guess? A mix of canton & sutanghon noodles. Miss Larra has excellent taste! Sotanghon is made of mung bean so good protein, plus the other protein ingredients which usually includes seafood/shrimp or maybe chicken or pork due to Mama Catherine’s shellfish allergy. So, Michael wasn’t consuming as carb laden noodle dish as he may have thought for breakfast! Pancit…it does a body good! 😋

Jaime Lachica Cardinal Sin was the 3rd Filipino cardinal. He was ordained priest in 1954 and was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Jaro in 1967. 3 years later, he became the Apostolic Administrator of Jaro, then Co-Adjutor Archbishop in 1972 and eventually the Archbishop of Jaro upon the death of the incumbent Archbishop Jose Maria Cuenco. He was then appointed in 1974 as Archbishop of Manila and elevated to cardinal in 1976 during Martial Law... By the way, a few days ago, Pope Francis blessed the Philippines with its 10th cardinal, Pablo Virgilio Siongco Cardinal David. He is the Bishop of Kalookan.
Bishop types. Apostolic Vicar if the area you cover is an Apostolic Vicariate. Prelate if the area is a Territorial Prelature. Bishop if it's a Diocese. Archbishop if it's an Archdiocese. The Archdiocese is the metropolitan of some dioceses, apostolic vicariates and territorial prelatures.
Auxiliary Bishop if you are an assistant. Co-adjutor Bishop is the assistant and the successor once the incumbent dies, retires or resigns. Apostolic Administrator means the caretaker of the diocese until a bishop is appointed. Priests can be an Apostolic Administrator. Bishop or Archbishop Emeritus once the incumbent retires or resigns.
