I had a long haired Syrian hamster and this mf'er was an *escape artist* . She would balance *ON TOP* of her wheel before pushing the lid off and escaping to my closet. I had to weigh down the lid with a couple Ann Rice books and tried so many different cages cause she somehow managed to unlock the locks during the night 😆
@jenniferbaez1725 it's been a few years but I had the cages specified for those hamsters (and there were so many 😫) they werent guinea pig sized cages though, a bit smaller. But eventually, I got one of the big glass tanks with the mesh top/lid cause it was the easiest cage to manage her escape attempts. Whenever she did escape, she would always go straight to my closet and hang out there until I found her. 😅
I know in Peru they have delicacy called Cucuy it’s a guinea pig. I learned that when I visit there. Also learned that the biggest rodent the Capybara popular delicacy in some regions of South America, particularly in countries like Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil. I didn’t feel right eating them. I see them as pets not food. But my mother country of Nicaragua they eat Parrots.

Also you should not show a clip of a Roborovski dwarf while saying "Teddy bear hamster" as it can give the layperson a wrong idea of the situation and also you shouldn't show clips two hamsters being together because it can be dangerous as they can start fighting each other to death. Moreover, hamsters are not nocturnal but crepuscular. As it was said earlier, hamsters are not meant for climbing too due to the fact that they have short tails.

Fruits can be given as a treat in 1-2 weeks for the hamster safety (Dwarfs maybe 3-4 weeks)

What kind of cage do you have? If they are in a small cage or don’t have enough enrichment, they will try their hardest to escape.
