I mean, my store allows proxies if the table you’re playing with allows it. We see it all the time and we believe it encourages friendlier player interaction and engagement!
I do, and a website, and take direct email orders for a discount. I'm actually moving across the country right now, but I should be back up and running may 5th. Def send an email to get in the queue
@@DarkSideDesignshow will you keep up when the orders flood in? I personally dig the black and white. Feels like I'm looking at the cover of an old fantasy novel
@@DarkSideDesigns hot dog! Master of all the elements haha! I saw you have a 50W fiber laser? That's like a freakin Moonraker lol. I just got my first laser tonight- Roly Lasermatic MK2, 20W. The journey begins ! I'll definitely be following your channel as making metal cards for my board game ("Way of Steel") is my goal. Seems like most everyone in the laser world is doing business cards and tumblers. Really glad I found your channel. Hope to learn a lot from you, and maybe also not burn down my house. But ya know, sacrifices must be made.
wow that looks amazing! My mind is just not wrapping around it.. it's just.. making the surface rough at a micro scale to reflect light and look whiter ?? For some reason my eyes want to see that as paint (even though it makes no sense with a laser hahaha) and I would be worrieed it might stain stuff (other cards, deckbox, etc)
So basically the blank cards are anodized aluminum, and the laser takes off the anodized coating leaving the image. It's actually smooth to the touch on the surface.
I'm sure these will cost more than a $1. I buy tons of cards. But having alternative options in a already expensive market at least having options beyond Hasbro is awesome
I would totally buy some of those just to use as Proxy Commanders
????? What else would you even do with these ??????
Probably could complain as Gambit and sharpen the edges...
@@DarkSideDesignsfirst thought I had reading that question.
Make a whole deck.
@@Jrizzle7426and try to riffle shuffle
can't wait to shuffle my full deck darksteel deck.
When your deckbox pops open and it sounds like you dropped a tool box xD.
You get it!
That's a truly unique application for proxy creation. Well done
Thank you!
Who else sees the color in the mana symbols?
So used to the game you start to see things
yes especially the red green and lesser the blue... that's 20 years of reading magic cards for me I guess
You're making better products than wizards themselves.
Hahaha maybe they can commission some secret lairs..
Gonna save this for later. I think having one of the Silent King or Mr House would be cool
Definitely!!
its crazy that i can see the colors
Am I he only one that’s seeing the mana symbols have a colour tint to them? I know it’s a trick of the mind but still…
I was just about to say. Glad I’m not the only one
Ita half a trick of the mind and half that the mana symbols still have the same value just no hue to them.
I thought I was going crazy for a second
Imagine if the metal had a proper level of bismuth alloy which gave it a sort of chromatic effect.
That would be crazy, but bismuth is a very weird metal haha
@@DarkSideDesigns
Or a form of electrolysis plating using a form of chromatic metal.
@VultureXV whiles it's possible, it's pretty expensive to do and you have to deal with some pretty gnarly chemicals
Wonderful idea by the way. Was gunna make some for my play group. A buddy came across your video and shared it with us.
Shit goes down when that get thrown on the table
Definitely.! Haha
This is by far the coolest thing I’ve seen when it comes to MTG nostalgia collectibles.
Thank you! I wanted to make something fun and unique

It's beautiful, I need several like this for my favorite commanders
For sure! Let me know!
It's beautiful. And weaponizable. Not a recommendation to weaponize.
Definitely! Haha hypothetical throwing cards haha
this can be a very good display to use in your commander deckbox or something like that
Definitely! I have a few deck box designs I'm working on that incorporate the metal cards too!
Much cleaner than I get with my CO2 laser, dang.
Thank you! Fiber lasers do have a smaller beam size so that could attribute it
This looks so good
Thank you
Yeah im def getting my commanders done this way.

I’d love a laser engraved Rafiq of the Many. This is lovely work!
Thank you
Definitely wanna do this for a Phyrexian deck
That would be pretty metal! Haha let me know
I mean, I read it.. but my brain still managed to make "Yoda" out of it.
Disappointment is immeasurable.
I hope your day isn't ruined!
Pretty cool idea. Makes a great stand in for your commander. How well does it hold up to rubbing or light play?
Pretty great. The annodized coating holds up well so the image wont scratch off easily. ill upload a torture test I did!
SICK
Take my money!
For sure! Send me an email and we can get started
Didnt Wizards do a few metal cards back in the day but were limited to a small selection of cards?
I remember those thick embossed metal cards, but im not sure about regular ones. I remember a Karn one
very very nice
can you do this on bronze or just gold plate the metal befor or after?
So right now I only have black anodized aluminum, bronze or gold colored metal under might be possible to cut eventually, but it's just expensive
Dude, would you be able to do the oil-slick cards? Imagine how cool that would be!
I have made some, ill post the video soon
I would love to see these
Damn thats nice what fibre laser do you use?
50w jpt!
Where did you get the blanks from? I can only seem to find smaller ones that aren't the same size as MTG cards
I make the blanks myself!
@@DarkSideDesigns Impressive. What kind of device do you use for making them if you don't mind sharing
Waterjet!
This is really cool. What laser engraver are you using?
50w JPT Fiber laser
Can those be sleeved and shuffled? I’m imagining a metalcraft deck out of metal 🤘🏻
You can sleeve and shuffle them, but they are slightly thicker then regular MTG Cards
I wonder if you could use holographic spraypaint on these? If you try it you'll want to put a clearcoat on to protect it from wearing off
I actually do offer a glitter holo coating. It's essentially a clear coat mixed with multicolor glitter
@@DarkSideDesigns do you have any images or videos showcasing that?

$18 dollars a card... so a bit expensive
@@DarkSideDesigns Lol, not really comparing to the actual price of a lot of magic cards.
@TheEternalHyperborean haha very true... sometimes I think it's crazy what we are willing to pay for cardboard!
@@DarkSideDesigns that would be worth it in some cedh decks
Are you using business card blanks? This has probably different dimensions than a regular mtg card then, right?
Nope! I cut my own blanks so they are the same size, just slightly thicker
Damn, you managed a better process than the Double Feature with just a laser engraver lol
Haha thank you!
Wow, whats the price for a setup like this and complexity?
Starting at 18 a card! Pretty much can do any image, and can make custom cards too!
now, shuffle them!
Oh I will, ill make a video!
