I did it in the same way before watching your video but it reported some problems ...Now I am confident and very much clear how to configure.Very much informative especially for opening ports because by default ftp ports are disabled

Well Passive-mode FTP connections are sometimes referred to as "server-managed", because after the client issues a pasv command, the server responds with one of its transient ports used as the server-side port of the data connection. After a data connection command is issued by the client, the server connects to the client using the port immediately above the client-side port of the control connection.

You should test this from outside your private network. Instead of using the local IP, try your external or internal global access. I'm curious to see if it works.

Thank for this very informative video. I created single Default server (with assigned local IP address setting) on my WIN7 desktop (not server machine) and i can access it nice from home and public IP BUT the problem is after sometime (approximately 2 hrs) i can't access it and i have to restart the FTP PC then it will be fine. I was happy about it at first as i can access my PC FTP files from work pc but not anymore,. I configured the time to not allow pc to go into sleep mode and so but still not solved. Kindly advise. Thanks for the good guide. I setup the server as you explained. But when I want to login I got "530 Login or password incorrect!" error. Though I made it sure they are bought definitely correct. I tried to connect inernally and externally but both give the same error. What may be the problem?

Hey Hat this means you have not configure the permissions of ftp properly for that user account.
Hi, I've setted up my ftp site just like yours, opened the port in the firewall too but I can't even connect with telnet, keeps telling me connect failed.... Any idea why?

If I disable completly the firewall it works, but when the firewall is open with the firewall rules allowed it doesnt work :(
Hey Cookies, thanks for watching the video. well it looks like you have enabled the wrong ftp port that is why it is working when you have disabled the firewall or may be after you have enable the ftp port the firewall didn't got refreshed.

Do you have the correct permissions set for the folder you are trying to upload You might try changing it to full access (777) to see if that fixes the issue.

In Passive-mode IIS FTP randomly choose to response with port ranging within 1024 - 65535 by default.
It look like there is some this else is blocking the ports may be the external firewall.
