Congratulations to Paul on the Johnny Mercer award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame! Today is March 4, 2020, the third anniversary of the passing of Valerie Carter, the celestial talent.
My father was a journalist who from time to time reviewed record albums - in the 70's when I was in high school he brought a Paul Williams album home and asked if I wanted to review it for him - I fell in love with the feeling only composers can put into singing their own music - think Burt Bacharach and Jimmy Webb who can't really sing but put incredible and beautiful feeling into singing their songs - Paul Williams is the best - listening to the feeling he puts into his songs will elevate you to such a beautiful place - I listen to his songs (with him singing) on my iPad, in my car and in my office on my computer - thank you Mr. Williams
+Beverly Davidson Paul Williams was such a great composer of ballads and sad songs. I heard he suffered from depression from time to time. That might be were the integrity of emotional lyrics came from. Agree with you completely Beverly. God Bless!

The Carpenters version is played the most, so that is what most people are familiar with. But I like this one and Andy Williams better.

+Joe Conti Yeah, that's right. Age has mellowed his voice away from it's strange dryness of the mid-seventies. (I saw him perform in LA in '73).
