God bless you Mr Williams...I love the relationship you had with your mother...so precious...I sense so much of her in you...may God bless you both abundantly
Jim's got it right. Charming guy, storyteller, and under-appreciated songwriter. Listen carefully to "That's Enough For Me". Long life and happiness Mr. Williams!
But he's only underappreciated because of how deeply his songs have embedded into our landscape. True, it makes them harder to notice day to day but no less unknown or unloved.
I saw him in the 70's at 6flags at the southern pavillion in arlington, tx. I was a kid that went with his mom. I was however and am now a musician and writer and had seen elton and the jackson 5 already by then amongst others, he was greatness then and always will be one of the best writers. waking up alone. simple man. genius!!!!! Phantom was also awesome.
I just watched your movie : Paul Williams is still alive. All the memories that came back to me ! My Dad, who passed away a few years ago, was an arranger/composer who loved your music. I was raised with your music and hearing you was so amazing ! Thank you, Paul Williams !
He wrote so many great songs it is amazing! I have his greatest hits collection but even that collection can not cover his amazing but troubled career, Paul did a lot of things besides writing songs and singing he acted too.
+GRETA MALL Sorry, Paul's dad did NOT write for the tonight show. Paul is talking about the first time he met Pat McCormick (Pat WAS a writer for the tonight show) They were both in the movie Smokey and the Bandit. Paul's dad was killed in a car crash and "little Paul" was sent to live in Long Beach. See Paul's DVD Still Alive. It tells his story.

Love you so.
Poetic Genius!!
Miss you, Paul 0:06
Genius!
The Carpenters did a beautiful job of this song, but it is really Paul's song and I love the way he did it. After all, it was his song.
Funny! I remember a lot of his songs.
The guy was peculiar. But he wrote a ton of big smash hits. He must be a zillionaire. His appearances on Carson enhanced his legacy.
Great post!

Came from Karen Carpenter's version and I say: he owns the song, he can do all the fun talking he wants!!!
just came out with a documentary about him. looks pretty good. guy went through alot of ups and downs.
Talented songwriter, nice guy. But certain other singers have done better versions of his songs. It is easy to think of one lady in particular.
He was the musical version of Cousin IT from the Adams Family.
hablas mucho y cantas poco mmmm?
WTAF was that??
Il a perdu sa voix ,dommage I
good song writer, horrible singer!
