    I have been enjoying your videos. Thank you. The way I have described cities to people is really by making a comparison between them and counties here in the States. To me it's a fair comparison because the cities there go from one to the next with no space between them.

      It is like a metropolitan area with smaller political sections. I will do a but more research on that in the future but it will probably bore many people. Thanks for watching Matt.

    I rented a studio apt in La Guardia 2 in July 2015 for $20/night on Air BnB. Owner was a Filam couple who bought it as an investment. Loved the rooftop pool there. A gf at the time was renting in your bldg for 13k (+ 1.5 condo fee). Such a great central location!

      This area is quite convenient to many locations so I was lucky to find it when I had no idea what part of the city I wanted to move to.
      Prices seem to be pretty consistent in the area for similar condos.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

    If one wants to be close to everything, shopping malls, restaurants, banks, travel hubs with bus lines, future MTR and monorail train stations; of course, Cebu city will fit the bill the best. If one desires more on relaxed living, less traffic congestion, more open area, and closer to nature and beaches, Mactan Island is better. If one likes mountain biking a lot and hiking a lot, of course, the mountain areas of Cebu. It is not that difficult to find ones best fit in the Metro Cebu area. These local places offer different things to fit the lifestyle of each individual. Go look around, walk around and drive around in different parts of the metro Cebu area before making a final decision about where to live. If one wants to get close to malls, well the Seaside SM area is good. There, you find Remo Oasis (for example). Near IT park of Cebu, house prices and condo prices are higher, yet everything is within walking distance and night life is vibrant. Want to be close to the beautiful beaches? NewTown is great, not only you are close to the beautiful beach of Shangri-la, NewTown itself even features its own community beach. Want something higher end? The upcoming Mandani Bay is a very nice place with upscale shopping corridas, high-end restaurants, a boardwalk and yacht parking, while overlooking the Cebu Bay. Good luck and buy your place soon because prices are on the rise fast with many mega projects on the horizon !!

    Thank you very much for that very interesting tour. Nice to see the area you live in, nice and clean.
    I wonder how Davoa looks like compared to Cebu City. Both are certainly very different from the place where Dan lives in.
    Have you ever met Christopher Lane? Tc

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not met Chris yet. I do occasionally make it over to his part of town near Robinsons on Osmenia Fuente Circle.
      Davao City usually gets good reviews for being a clean, safe and organized city, but I have not been there yet.
      Thanks for watching and commenting Shineamen.

    I'm a recent recruit to your channel, but must say that I find it very informative. My sense so far is that the high-rise condos are smaller, safer and more expensive than units in more outlying areas. I can handle those aspects. However, my concern about leases is that a neighbor could make my life miserable with me not having a way out. Have you found noise to be a problem in the Cebu condo world?

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have moved twice because of noise from the outside. One needs to do your research and try to find out if there are major noise sources near. Still, no guarantees. Thanks for watching.

      I also found it difficult to to find a condo as much of the online information is wrong prices or out of date.

      Online info is often out of date or not being monitored. I hope to get relevant info online that should be current over time.

    Are any of the condos in the various buildings you've reviewed available through airbnb? It occurs to me that renting through airbnb could provide be a way to try out various units without committing to a long lease.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1

      There are many units in the various condos listed on the various rental sites like airbnb, rent.ph, tripping.com and many others. Thanks for watching.

    Can you be kind to explain who are the so call expat you are referring to ?

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Expat is just a term used to describe a foreigner living in another nation. It has nothing to do with being an ex-patriot. Not sure where the term came from. Most of us are quite patriotic to our home country but for various reasons choose to live in a foreign nation.

    Btw, i see you've now got the hang of pronouncing Cebu as sih-BOO, good work mate.
    i would now like to help you with "barangay" = buh-ruhng-GUY, as in you're a guy.. Also, "Talisay" is pronounced tah-lee-SIGH.

    One of the most important things is the neighbors. Even a luxury townhouse can suck if the neighbors are buttheads.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neighbors is one reason I do not like long leases. You can move if they don't. I am fortunate the people above me are very quiet. Condo on one side is usually empty but the people next to me seem hard of hearing with somewhat loud TV in the morning and yipping dog. Someone must have complained as they are keeping it more quiet now.

      Rod, here's a challenge for someone with your unique Dick Tracy skills. Find some anise seed and fennel. If you can, Italian sausage-makers everywhere in the Philippines will give thanks.

      mercxmorris That's true, actually. Then expats will be able to make some decent sausage. If I was looking I'd start at an Italian restaurant, and talk with the chef.
