UPDATE: I now run the intake with no lid as Jake Preston suggested below. This made the turbo sound come through louder, and amplified the overall effects of the new intake.

Just installed this today. I have no other mods and I went from 15.7 MPG to 18.5 in my first run. However, I’m not hot rodding in my truck. Definitely noticed better throttle response, not a lot but better.

I went with S&B open style with the massive filter. It definitely gave it more punch on the low end. Can't speak for mpgs cause of all the awesome turbo noises lmao. I went from AFE stage 2 to the 5" tube from s&b and had my tuner make the revision to that I don't smoke like a freight train from the computer trying to compensate fuel for the added air. I smoked more than a 2ng gen on 5x5 lmao

One thing you have to consider since this video was made spaced out. Diesel quality tends to dip down as you get into the colder months. So where I live I only get 14-15 mpg doing 55 in the colder months and in the summer I get 15-19mpg

Good point, I think I have noticed about 1-2 MPG better now in the summer months.

Try taking the lid off the intake to improve your MPG's. I noticed lower MPG's when I installed mine with the lid on. Once i removed it i gained almost 2 MPG's. I have a 2012 powerstroke

Hello,I just saw your channel this morning and I like the brand of air intake that you have,as a matter of fact I have been seeing other brands but I just like this with the transparent casing that it has.I have the 2004 Ford F 350 SuperDuty 6.0 Lariat Crew Cab Dually,do you think that I can get something like this for my truck and where can I get it.Thanks,I look forward to hearing from you about this subject matter.

Did that grill come with the truck or is it aftermarket

I think they sell the “inserts” for the grill. I’ve seen them somewhere. They also have the Raptor Style grill. Trying to come to terms In doing the upgrade. Just not sure yet

It's the stock grill, but it was color matched to shadow black to match the truck. I bought the truck with this already done, but it would've chrome from the factory.

I’m dealing with after I installed my intake when I run it through the car wash will throw a check engine light and reduce power light almost like something is getting wet. I let it sit for and hour and check engine light is gone and truck runs like normal. Wonder what is cause it any suggestions????

I would take it to an autozone/ advanced auto to scan the codes to see exactly what the problem is. If I had to guess it would be that you're gasket on the mass airflow sensor on the intake got misaligned when you installed, or the wiring might not have connected it all the way, and water got in there. I'd start by focusing on that sensor, take it off and reinstall it making sure everything looks good, and is sealed properly. Hope this helps.

S&B does sell a sleeve that goes over the filter to shed water if water is the issue.

would a cold air intake make a stock non tuned 6.7 throw codes?

No you just disconnect your batteries before install for a couple hours so the ECM can “forget” the old flow rates.

I’m so stuck between this S&B CAI and the aFe Power magnum Force 54-11872-1 (claims 26hp and 80 ftlbs torque) 🫣

Seems like that one might give you slightly better stats, but it also has a large notch in the piping for your coolant line. If your truck is deleted this notch might look weird since it will be unused.
But end of the day all the aftermarket intakes are very similar, so I’d just go with whatever one you think looks best, or will squeeze the most power out of the truck, depending on what kind of build you’re doing.💪

@@dsmotors176 ohhh yeah just saw that notch on it😬 oh well I just ordered it I’ll find something to put in it (my truck is deleted also)
