FORSTELLA is very versatile. They cover legendary songs of all genres in different styles and languages, always respecting the original. Their "Shape of You" is an extremely successful fusion of diverse styles with rousing vibes. The interpretation of "Je suis malade" is breathtaking pure emotion. How about "Sweet dreams" (Eurythmics) for the rockier part or a little heavier "Lazenka Save Us" (epic Korean rock). For the more classically oriented songs I definitely recommend "Nella fantasia", "In un' altra Vita","Scarborough Fair" or "If I Leave". The harmonies, their voices and vocal ranges are particularly stunning here. FORESTELLA is musical passion in perfection.
I also love the fact that there is a bass singer in this group, which is correct that they don't usually have a bass singer in kpop groups. When I heard of this group, I was excited. I couldn't belive thay they were Korean.
Hi Peter! First singer, Ko Woo-rim, is a classically trained bass. Second singer with the long red coat is Kang Hyung-ho is a natural teprano, ie, countertenor--not formally trained. His audition song at Phantom Singer was The Phantom of the Opera--oy! Third singer with the black glove on right hand is Cho Min-gyu, classically trained leggiero tenor. The fourth singer is Bae Doo-hoon, a musical theater performer. They take turns singing lead. They won the second season of the Phantom Singer contest in South Korea in 2017. They are dynamite! I do have some favorite songs: Inner Universe--you will hear the bass. Snail. Time in a Bottle. We are the Champions. Bohemian Rhapsody. Spread Silk on My Heart. There are others that I do not know the names of that are wonderful. There is another quartet from Phantom Singer season 1 that I really like called HPresso, with lead singer Ko Eun-song. One of my favorite songs is Luna by Allesandro Safina. And they do a fun Bella Ciao. Enjoy!
hi. this group is actually a classical crossover quartet, not kpop. the bass is a basso profondo opera singer. one of the tenors is also an opera singer (leggiero tenor). another is a musical actor and believe it or not, the countertenor had no training before he joined the group. he was a chemist and was the lead singer of a garage band. they also don't usually do any dancing since they are classical crossover, but for this particular show, which is a weekly contest where popular singers sing the hits of past artists, they tend to dress it up some. as a group, they are capable of pretty much every genre they have ever tried (except hip hop - none of them can rap! lol!) here's a playlist of most of their most popular performances, several of which were on this same show: th-cam.com/play/PL2hwWBLaUBAdxHvT6jJqkiNMJ3GGeMpUa.html also, their interpretation of this is supposed to be kind of a disneyfied vampire theme. the show they are on is family friendly so the ugly abusive relationship theme didn't fly! lol! one more thing, they will be performing on this show again on the Dec. 10th show and then again on either the Dec. 24th or 31st show, so there will be 2 more new performances coming up.

I know a good reaction when I see one; yours was phenomenal! so I hit the like and the subscribe button at once! what you just saw is only the tip of the iceberg of forestella, I have been their fan for 5 years now and I still have the same emotions and goosebumps every time I hear them sing... they are not considered k-pop singers, they sang in English, Korean, Italian, Spanish, Russian and even African Zulu! they sang almost every genre, from rock to pop, to opera to trot (might say the Korean cowboy XD).. I would recommend.. Bohemian Rhapsody, Scarborough fair, Nella Fantasia, Parla Piu Piano, Shape of You, Champions, Sound of Silence, and of course Hijo Di La Luna... trust me you will enjoy their performances to the max. P.S.: they always add their touch to every song they sing and make it theirs.
Thank you for your detailed analysis and review! I subbed. This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world! Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed. You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! And they broke the record of their own with Bad Romance which seems toxic version of their Lazenca Save Us, winning 5 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs. Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible. Don't miss their new m/v for Save our lives! It's full of wonders. Each of them is representing an element in the m/v.
Hi Peter. Welcome to Forestella's world 🌎 🎶 music. I've been watching them since 2017 and many more excellent Korean artists. Thanks for your analysis 👍 🙏.
Thank you for your interesting reaction to FORESTELLA, the best crossover vocal group ever. Just the unusual mix of their unique voices and vocal ranges is like winning a jackpot. Technically highly qualified, they are able to create unbelievable harmonies and sounds. The combination of these extraordinary skills makes FORESTELLA unique. First-class arrangements, great creativity and sensitive new interpretations of the selected songs make their music a real treat that you won't want to do without
Their Scarborough Fair cover is their best in my opinion. It showcases their different octaves and their beautiful ability to harmonize the best. Also the song by itself rocks
If you watch "Je suis malade" you may need tissues. 😭 No subtitles, but you don't need them. Their Bohemian Rhapsody is probably what Freddie Mercury had in mind when he wrote it. Their "Shape of you" is fun and quirky. They also have some lovely, more classical feeling performances such as "Angel", "Hijo de La Luna", "Nella Fantasia". They also have individual performances (which are absolutely worth seeing). They tend to line up from left.. Ko WooRim (Classically trained bass), Kang Hyung-Ho/PITTA (Rock singer with large vocal range, Cho Mingyu (Classically trained Tenor) and Bae Doo-Hoon (tenor/baritone) who was trained in Theatre. Oh, and Forestella fans from different Continents say their pronunciation of English, Spanish, Zulu, French, Italian is really good. Hope you find them as interesting as us old fans. 👍
Oh, I adore Forestella! I'm so glad to see US reactors finding them! Thank you, Peter, for such an interesting and fun reaction/analysis! I really do hope you do more reactions to Forestella, because they absolutely deserve more recognition!
Thanks for your reaction to the wonderful group Forestella. They never just cover a song, they always make it their own. For "Bad Romance" they went for a darker vampire theme. However, this was not the best song for a first time analysis in my opinion, because not each of the members had a bigger solo part there. Although you could hear a bit of Kang Hyungho's high notes, there are better songs where he can shine and there are songs with better harmonies. Forestella is a very versatile group and the guys sing many different genres. I suggest "Scarborough Fair" or "Hijo de la luna" as next reaction. They also have their own songs like "Save our lives" (the live performance is great, but the official music video is a visual masterpiece). I hope you'll continue your Forestella journey.
Nueva suscriptora !!! me encanto tu analisis, por favor sigue analizandolos, tienen muchisimos temas magistralmente interpretados. Saludos desde Venezuela
welcome to forestella world music .it's not kpop is a quartet crossover the king s of harmony .please continue the journey with them .They have many covers. ex bohemian rhapsody . Thank for react.🥰❤
Your reactions and analysis have your uniqueness from a bass and classical points of view! I love Forestella and your chord progression arrangements comments explain what we feel in their presentations.
Thanks for reacting to Forestella! Really appreciate your thoughtful analysis. Here's some brief background on the group: Forestella was formed in 2017 on the South Korean TV show Phantom Singer 2, which they won! The members are Ko Woorim, Kang Hyungho, Cho Mingyu, and Bae Doohoon. Woorim: bass, 27 years old, classically trained opera singer. Hyungho (6:37): countertenor, 34 years old, no formal training - he was the vocalist of an amateur rock band, and worked as a chemical engineer and researcher. Mingyu (8:20): tenor, 32 years old, classically trained opera singer. Doohoon (11:48): tenor, 36 years old, musical actor. Some more great Forestella performances to watch (there's so many, it's hard to only pick a few!): Je Suis Malade - th-cam.com/video/6LHaxFzSz4w/w-d-xo.html Hijo de la Luna - th-cam.com/video/LJc7wXa9JG8/w-d-xo.html Scarborough Fair - th-cam.com/video/NWo1l3w69Ng/w-d-xo.html Parla Piu Piano (Godfather theme song) - th-cam.com/video/to8FB0WdAE8/w-d-xo.html Looking forward to your future Forestella reactions/analyses :D
Hyungho is not a countertenor. He is a rock singer who excels at soprano vocal skills. His identity is close to rock music, but in Forestella, he uses almost all techniques such as rock, soprano, trot, and ballad.☺️
Peter, I hope you are still reading comments here!! This group has so much to offer. They're incredibly versatile! Please, if you can find the time...and it's definitely worth it...take a look at "Save Our Lives", "Lazenca" and "Scarborough Fair". Just WOW!!
As well as “MAMA” - “Time in a Bottle” is another if you like changes. They took original song under 2m30s and turned into nearly 7m of their own version.
I think what impresses me most is just how close this group is. If you watch any of their self-interviews, they tease, shore up and just have fun with each other. The videos with them singing each others parts are hilarious!! But they get serious and that sound is just incredible! Even without understanding a word of Korean, you can see their personalities come out. :) Cho Mingyu, classically trained Tenor, is the leader. Ko RooRim, is that unbelievable Bass. He is also operatically trained. He's the quietest of the group. And recently married the 2010 Olympic Gold Metal for women's figure skating, Kim Yaun. Kang Hyjungho is, as he calls himself, a te-prano (tenor soprano) He has notes many sopranos would envy! He is not formally trained which is even more surprising given how wonderful he sounds!! He uses PITTA for his solo music. I recommend Carpe Diem just for fun! Bae Doohoon is a musical theatre trained singer. I think Baritone. He puts SO much emotion into everything he sings. Listen to his solo, Gethsemane! Sorry this is so long, but this group is incredibly talented! I really hope you do more reactions with them. There's a lot of recommendations from others here. The only ones I might add are Utopia, Angel, Spread Silk on My Heart and for total fun, Dead Drunk and WakaWaka. :)
Welcome to Forestella's world of music. You can literally choose any video of them to react to because all of their performances are incredible, but I suggest the following: Je Suis Malade The Sound of Silence Bohemian Rhapsody 신라의 달밤 (The Moonlit Night of Silla) [Immortal Songs 2] 나 가거든 (If I leave) [Immortal Songs 2] 전설 속의 누군가처럼 (Like Someone In The Legend) [Immortal Songs 2] L'immensita Lazenca, Save Us [Immortal Songs 2] Time In A Bottle By the way, Forestella is not K-pop; they are a classical crossover/vocal group. Cho Mingyu: leader and classical tenor Ko Woorim: classical bass and youngest (maknae) Bae Doo Hoon: musical actor; pop, rock, r&b, and oldest (hyung) Kang Hyungho: rock soprano I'm looking forward to more of your analysis videos of Forestella.
I'm excited to hear what you have to say about this group. I just discovered them today and while my love for my BTS boys is unwavering, these guys, these guys leave me without words. They have a tour planned early 2023 in the USA , wish I were close enough to any of the venues to see them live.
I'm so happy to see that you've reacted to this! I originally suggested Bad Romance, not because I thought it was the best showcase of their abilities, but because the bass singer really stands out in this song and I thought that you would appreciate that. Hopefully you'll take a look at some of their other songs in the future. My favorite would have to be Bohemian Rhapsody.

Great to hear your take! Btw they aren't a kpop group they are a vocal group. They have so many great songs to react to. I would suggest je suis malade next!
@@araoluwaasahiah I'm Korean and we don't think of them as Kpop. They are a Korean cross-over group, but I wouldn't put them in the same genres as BTS or Blackpink.
Thank you for reacting forestella, they are my favorite, please react their other songs, there are a lot of vocal techniques along the way 🥰 for bass singer his french is very fluent in Autumn leaves (Le Fuere Mortes) for high voice he's Contra tenor, his song Phantom of the opera (singing solo) is the best 🥰 their fluency are in any languages 🥰
Thank you for your reaction to Forestella❤ There are so many great cover song by them such as Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the champions, Shape of you, Heal the world, Smooth Criminal, Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade, Nella fantasia, Champions, Sound of silence, Hijo de la luna, Scarborough fair, Parla piu piano, My Favorite Things and etc.. They are amazingly talented and I hope to see your reaction to them more.
Thank you very much for this reaction! I enjoyed watching it. I've been watching Forestella for half a year now and I don't get tired of their professionalism, creativity and amazing harmony. I will be very glad to see the reaction to their other performances!
At last Peter. The Bass (Ko WooRim) has been singing higher lately, to expand his range... this is a recent performance. May I recommend you see their Bohemian Rhapsody, or for me their standout performance "Je suis malade". 😮😭 Both Ko WooRim and the Tenor who sounded like Gaga (Cho Mingyu) are both Classically trained. The guy singing the high notes (Kang Hyung-Ho) was a Research Chemist and part time ROCK singer who had NO vocal training prior to the show which created Forestella... you should see his "Phantom of the Opera". 😮 He has a large vocal range.. Not quite Dimash, but possibly even more impressive, as he had no formal training. The last guy (Bae Doo-Hoon has a Theatrical background. Individually, they have great voices, but together they are exceptional. You'll see that if you React to "Je suis malade". I hope you React to more Forestella. This is one of their "Poppy" songs.
You should try listening to their covers that are in other languages other than korean or English. They have sang songs in French, African & Spanish (that beiber featured song) that I'm aware of.
They were on two shows called Phantom Singer 2 and Immortal Songs 2 and won them both. There is a video which is over 2 hours that have all the songs. Addictive! Also there is a video which tells how the band was formed.
Thanks for your reaction. Forestella will hold solo concerts next year in Los Angeles on January 20th, Vancouver on January 26th, New York on January 29th, Dallas on February 1st, and Atlanta on February 4th.
Really enjoyed their take on this! And that bass vocalist, Oh my! Love it. Suits very well for this song. And speaking of bass voice, I'd love to hear The Bass Gang version of bad romance 🤩
just discovering this group. I listened to their video before yours. I love your analysis it gives even more power to their interpretation of the song. Thank you!

Hey Peter. Love your reaction video to this group Forestella. I find their music, very enjoyable, and the way they interpret classical songs. 0h, and by the way. I really like your deep bass voice
Welcome to Forestella Music World. I liked your analysis. I clicked subscribe. Because they have so many different vocal skills and genres of music to digest, you shouldn't stop analyzing them. Discover more of their amazing and fantastic music. I recommend bohemian rhapsody and je suis malade.♥️
thank you for the reaction. Their songs must be heard in person, not through a video. Forestella's concert is the answer to "Why do we have to go to concerts?" Because their group range spans more than four octaves, some songs on the air don't fully convey their voices. Especially Woorim's voice, part of his voice disappears when the MR is removed.
Good R&A Peter. Great group! It's nice to hear a bass in K-Pop. Hopefully he may get Pit Viper status someday, though it maybe hard with an orchestra underneath him. Fingers crossed that this video will eventually get monetized.
Info: Not sure you will get to read this but Forestella won a show called "Phantom Singer". Later they started appearing on a show called "Immortal Songs" a mixed talent of singer get given a song from a person or theme. Forestella appears regularly on this show if you youtube "Immortal Songs - Forestella" you will find plenty of their performances on this show even a version of Queen - Bomenian Rapsody (sorry spelling). I would extremely recommend watching more performances of them, as they have the high and low vocalists, bend their vocals with the songs and mix the songs, even songs you are not familiar with knock you out by their harmony with each other. They even did scarborough fair which was beautiful.....
Thank you for the reaction of the Forestella's. This one is not that good for the first reaction though. Next time, I suggest 'Hijo de la Luna' ,'Je suis Malade' or'Bohemian Rhapsody'. 'Time in a bottle' and 'Champions' are also good.

Thank you for the reaction & analysis, and introducing me to a new group.
Thank you so much for your amazing reaction to Forestella. Every song is truly mindblowingly good!
Thanks for reacting to Forestella! Really appreciate your thoughtful analysis. Here's some brief background on the group:
Forestella was formed in 2017 on the South Korean TV show Phantom Singer 2, which they won!
Some more great Forestella performances to watch (there's so many, it's hard to only pick a few!):
Je Suis Malade - th-cam.com/video/6LHaxFzSz4w/w-d-xo.html
Hijo de la Luna - th-cam.com/video/LJc7wXa9JG8/w-d-xo.html
Scarborough Fair - th-cam.com/video/NWo1l3w69Ng/w-d-xo.html
Parla Piu Piano (Godfather theme song) - th-cam.com/video/to8FB0WdAE8/w-d-xo.html
Looking forward to your future Forestella reactions/analyses :D
Hyungho is not a countertenor. He is a rock singer who excels at soprano vocal skills. His identity is close to rock music, but in Forestella, he uses almost all techniques such as rock, soprano, trot, and ballad.☺️
목소리 와!!멋져요
Thank you for sharing the detailed analysis of the video. fantastic performance 😱
A new fan of this group.
Happy to hear your reaction~~ and "What a voice you have, Peter!"
Peter, I hope you are still reading comments here!! This group has so much to offer. They're incredibly versatile! Please, if you can find the time...and it's definitely worth it...take a look at "Save Our Lives", "Lazenca" and "Scarborough Fair". Just WOW!!
And then there's Champions...

Nice! Both the song and the analysis!
I can just listen to you talk for hours, or singing🤗
Welcome to Forestella's world of music. You can literally choose any video of them to react to because all of their performances are incredible, but I suggest the following:
Je Suis Malade
The Sound of Silence
Bohemian Rhapsody
신라의 달밤 (The Moonlit Night of Silla) [Immortal Songs 2]
나 가거든 (If I leave) [Immortal Songs 2]
전설 속의 누군가처럼 (Like Someone In The Legend) [Immortal Songs 2]
L'immensita
Lazenca, Save Us [Immortal Songs 2]
Time In A Bottle
By the way, Forestella is not K-pop; they are a classical crossover/vocal group.
Cho Mingyu: leader and classical tenor
Ko Woorim: classical bass and youngest (maknae)
Bae Doo Hoon: musical actor; pop, rock, r&b, and oldest (hyung)
Kang Hyungho: rock soprano
I'm looking forward to more of your analysis videos of Forestella.
I'm excited to hear what you have to say about this group. I just discovered them today and while my love for my BTS boys is unwavering, these guys, these guys leave me without words. They have a tour planned early 2023 in the USA , wish I were close enough to any of the venues to see them live.
Hi Peter! Thanks a million for your reaction to my favourite group and welcome to the harmonic world of Forestella! ❤️
Adoro a este cuarteto FORESTELLA ❤❤❤❤
I'm so happy to see that you've reacted to this! I originally suggested Bad Romance, not because I thought it was the best showcase of their abilities, but because the bass singer really stands out in this song and I thought that you would appreciate that. Hopefully you'll take a look at some of their other songs in the future. My favorite would have to be Bohemian Rhapsody.
Great to hear your take! Btw they aren't a kpop group they are a vocal group. They have so many great songs to react to. I would suggest je suis malade next!
They are a kpop group
@araoluwaasahiah9648 kpop is pop, so no, they're not kpop
@@araoluwaasahiah I'm Korean and we don't think of them as Kpop. They are a Korean cross-over group, but I wouldn't put them in the same genres as BTS or Blackpink.
Thank you for reacting forestella, they are my favorite, please react their other songs, there are a lot of vocal techniques along the way 🥰 for bass singer his french is very fluent in Autumn leaves (Le Fuere Mortes) for high voice he's Contra tenor, his song Phantom of the opera (singing solo) is the best 🥰 their fluency are in any languages 🥰
그들은 환상적인 팀입니다
저는 이와같은 팀을 전에는 못봤읍니다.
전혀 새로운 크로스오버그룹 입니다.
그들의 유니크함과 블랜딩은 최고입니다 👍 💕
Thank you for your reaction to Forestella❤
There are so many great cover song by them such as Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the champions, Shape of you, Heal the world, Smooth Criminal, Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade, Nella fantasia, Champions, Sound of silence, Hijo de la luna, Scarborough fair, Parla piu piano, My Favorite Things and etc..
Thank you for the interesting facts about Forestella….their Bohemian Rhapsody is the best…..and peaks the original!
You should try listening to their covers that are in other languages other than korean or English. They have sang songs in French, African & Spanish (that beiber featured song) that I'm aware of.
Absolutely amazing
Kool!!!! 들어보셔요ㅎㅎ
Like others, I would suggest “Scarborough Fair” for your next reaction! Really displays their voices.❤
Great reaction video, one of the most professional reactions seen so far!
Thank you for the reaction~
What an interesting and talented group!!Thanks for another great analysis 👍🏻
감사합니다 👍 👍👏👏 💖 💝
I love the bass in this group. It's not kpop, but i am loving their stuff
Really enjoyed their take on this! And that bass vocalist, Oh my! Love it. Suits very well for this song. And speaking of bass voice, I'd love to hear The Bass Gang version of bad romance 🤩
Forestella just enthralls me !
just discovering this group. I listened to their video before yours. I love your analysis it gives even more power to their interpretation of the song. Thank you!
리액션 감사합니다
I love your reaction....i learn a lot
.
forestella - scarborough fair, Je Suis Malade, If I Leave, champions , Hijo de la Luna, Time In A Bottle, nella fantasia, Save our lives, shape of you 무대도 추천합니다
Thanks for reacting to this group. React to Hijo de la luna.
I just found your channel through this reaction, and I’ll definitely be checking out more videos! I love Forestella and hope you watch and react to more of there performances. I’d recommend Inner Universe, Nella Fantasia, and Je Suis Malade. This cover of Shape of You is also really good.
came across you on my research into Forestella and my my you are the best reactor iv ever seen, you breaking down the vocals like that woow 👍, im your fan now
이분 이미 제 5의 멤버로 함께 하는듯 행복해 보이시네요.^^♥
Hi Peter love your reactions and I love the bass voice I sing myself a mezzo-soprano x
I love this cover
바삭바삭
Other people have already gave you lots of info on Forestella, so I just want to say thank you for checking them out!! They're one of my favorite vocal groups and it was really nice to see you analyze this performance 🥰. I was hoping you would one day. I hope you watch more of their performances!!
I love their cover of Scarborough Fair!! Thank you for reacting ❤

FINALLY GET TO SEE THEM LIVE IN NEWYORK IN AMERICA NEXT MONTH! so if you want to support them or them live check their usa January tour!!
