Kang Hyung-ho, who plays the role of soprano and counter tenor, was originally a researcher at a chemical company. He never studied singing and was an ordinary person who was all about singing in a rock band, but then became famous in Phantom Singer 2 and became Forestella

The original is not necessarily one of my favorite songs. However, the special FORESTELLA sound gives the song that special something that you just can't resist. I also love that last 1/3, a brilliant fusion of styles with outstanding vocal-abilyties. How everything mixes into an explosive sound that spirals higher and higher. This arrangement is so creative and incredibly successful. They are so talented and passionate, and have my utmost respect.

The fourth member, who you are wondering about as a baritone, at -8:45, is actually the deep bass, it is Ko Woorim. He sings both wonderfully as a bass and a baritone. Third language was Zulu! If you have not yet, please react to their cover of “ je suis malade”, you will have their voices at their best!
All 4 of them have incredible ranges! It's an absolute riot to watch when they (attempt) to sing each others parts! :) Poor Woorim often gets the high tenor part. And, just as a fun note, at Bae Doohoon's (baritone/musical theatre trained) wedding in May, he and the rest of Forestella seranaded the bride with this song!

Please, please react to them singing the song Champions. I would love to hear your professional opinion and break down on it. It has such a majestic feel to it. Also consider doing analysis of their renditions of Dell' Amore Non Si Sa and In Un'altra Vita. They were also very busy in July / August of this year and release the song White Night as well as their renditions of the songs Legends Never Die and Despacito, which sounded phenominal to my untrained ears.

I've come back to watch this several times, and every time I giggle that Woorim (the Bass) switches up on you so drastically that you start thinking he may be a Tenor. The kid is ridiculously talented (honestly, they are all ridiculously talented). Really love your break downs of this group. I'll always come back for more of them.

All 4 have astonishing ranges..point given when Woorim (bass) sang up in that tenor range!! Everytime you take them on, I learn something new! Their latest...Despacito and White Night...oh, and Legends Never Die...show off just how much they can handle! The leader, Cho Mingyu, has some astonishing solo pieces. Many of them are hard to watch without tearing up! He's unappreciated sometimes I think..not in his leading ability...but in his singing, especially in all the languages he does so perfectly! Heck, they all do that! I've watched some of their warm-up videos and they definitely show just why their shows are so well done. They work hard to give their fans perfection. I'll stop here! 16:08 That's actually the base vocalist singing in high pitch. Impressive, right? During one of their few concerts that I've been to, he was able to pull off a tenor part in Time in a Bottle where he would practically shout in high pitch. This was really surprising for me because I'm a huge fan of their cover on Inner Universe where the base really shines in his typical base range and maybe even deeper so seeing such contrast was really interesting. Fyi, the oh no followed by the verse is sung by another member of the group.
Yes!! When you watch the video you can see it’s definetely DooHoon singing the oh no-part. After a long time listening to these Wonderful ”korean angels” (as I call them 😍) you don’t need to watch to know who of them is singing - listening is enough!! 😍❤️🥰🤗

Tenor Cho Min-kyu also majored in vocal music at Seoul National University. He worked for the opera company. He won the Phentum Singe 2 by gathering all the members of Forestella.

A very interesting analysis as usual. To my untrained ear they sound phenomenal so it nice to hear someone point out the technicalities. Also interesting Ko Woorim’s (bass singer) range because when he went up you thought he was a different baritone/tenor 😅 The counter tenor (Kang Hyung Ho aka Pitta) is the one with the gritty voice. He does indeed have a crazy voice. You should check out his individual songs sometime as he is also a rocker with his own music.

Bae Doo-hoon is a Korean musical actor. He has a warm tone and is the eldest brother of Forestella.He studied vocal at Korea National University of Arts. (It's a very hard place to get in, as much as Seoul National University.)

I always love the way you explain things, and though I'm totally tone deaf I find what you say super interesting, so thank you so much for that ♥ Some days ago in TikTok there was a 'fight' because an astonishing number of people was saying Woorim is not a bass, but a baritone (someone even said he was a low tenor) that "forces" his larynx down to get darker sounds (which sounds to me as the chiaroscuro thing you were explaining), and they insist he's not a bass, he only trained as one. Someone already asked this to you in another comment, and I'd also love to have your insight on this, since I'm honestly baffled (he has pretty decent "high" notes, I guess, but they're not as rich and full as his low ones. Though I'm confused because even you have said he's a tenor around 16:16, so I don't even know anymore 🤣). And if you want to react to more of them (in the near future, I hope!) I wholeheartedly recommend their cover of "Hijo de la Luna" (title in spanish, but they sing it in Korean). They all shine there, and I think you'll love that song :) Again, thank you!!

Listen to Woorim's high note battle with Son Tae Jin, Forte di Quattro's bass 🤣 His range is very impressive, but he's definitely a bass. He's great at moving his larynx to get different tones, but he definitely isn't "forcing" it down to get a darker tone. Idk why people would pick this to fight about, he's not a baritone and he's definitely not a tenor.

I really liked your Forestella reaction. Other people's reactions usually focus on the tenor's voice first, while you also listen to the bass voice. So I'd like you to review Inner Universe of the open concert and Lazenca,save us of the immortal songs. I think Inner Universe is a stage where you can feel the bass's hypoallergenic and countertenor's hypoallergenic sounds very well, so I recommend it! Please listen to the open concert version! And I think Lazenca saveus is also a very attractive stage with bass's voice!

Ko, Woo-Rim studied in Seoul University as basso prophone base and Cho, Min-Kyu as tenore reggiero. Kang, Ho-Hyung, covering counter tenor worked at chemical company joining a rock band club as a main vocal and Bae, Do-Hoon, tener range with musical company on stage for several years.. They spend lots of time practicing to overcome to cover broader vocal rage and to improve themselves. Forestella = forest + stella ( star in Italian)
Go Woo-rim of Bass majored in classical music at Seoul National University in Korea. And it was in the opera. He came all the way to Sol after a lot of practice.

I’d like to give a big shout out to Ko Woo-rim, the dramatic basso perfundo, but in Forestella he just refers to himself as a bass. (I have no idea what that means. I just adore his voice and shy humility, and did a creepy deep dive on him…and the rest of the 3 members.) But let’s put a name to that amazing voice! Also he was a 3rd year opera student when he was auditioning on Phantom 2. He went straight through got his Masters while still singing with the group. The highest vocalist is Kang Hyung-ho, a self taught marvel. If you haven’t yet, watch his performance from The Phantom of the Opera - CHILLS. And as to your observation of the crowd screaming at the very hint of a bass, look up the why. Ironically, I did that just last night. It’s a visceral response, hitting both females and males. I know it curls my toes.
Ko Woo Rim is a basso profundo but has a very wide vocal range from C#0 to G#2 near high baritone range. and Kang Hyung Ho also has a range from high baritone of A#2 to C6. One more language used was Swahili.

If you want to hear her sing in her native language you can listen to "Avui vull agrair (Amazing Grace)". It was shot in the church of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona by a Catalan television program called "La Marató de TV3", but but to analyze I would recommend that you analyze "Europe", the voice is live. Perhaps you have already analyzed it, but there are so many videos...

i listened to you talking a little more and i kinda think you sound like that too! at 16:16, that's actually the bass, ko woorim! he didn't used to be able to sing that high, but he's expanded his range since becoming a part of forestella. that high a that follows is bae doohoon, the baritenor. forestella is 2 tenors (one a freak of a countertenor and one a leggiero tenor) a baritenor and a bass. the baritenor and the bass kinda split the baritone range. when it comes to forestella reactions we are used to it being blurred and having text over it. no biggie. 3 languages. the last one was zulu. they are up to 8 different languages so far. 9 if you count pseudo latin. also, they sang one song that had 3 words of german. so 9.5? lol!

All 4 have astonishing ranges..point given when Woorim (bass) sang up in that tenor range!! Everytime you take them on, I learn something new! Their latest...Despacito and White Night...oh, and Legends Never Die...show off just how much they can handle! The leader, Cho Mingyu, has some astonishing solo pieces. Many of them are hard to watch without tearing up! He's unappreciated sometimes I think..not in his leading ability...but in his singing, especially in all the languages he does so perfectly! Heck, they all do that! I've watched some of their warm-up videos and they definitely show just why their shows are so well done. They work hard to give their fans perfection. I'll stop here! I know I'm going on...and on... But I'm just so impressed with them! Please...more Forestella!!!

16:08 That's actually the base vocalist singing in high pitch. Impressive, right? During one of their few concerts that I've been to, he was able to pull off a tenor part in Time in a Bottle where he would practically shout in high pitch. This was really surprising for me because I'm a huge fan of their cover on Inner Universe where the base really shines in his typical base range and maybe even deeper so seeing such contrast was really interesting. Fyi, the oh no followed by the verse is sung by another member of the group.

@@PeterBarber Not an expert but maybe you got confused because the color of his voice and the notes he was hitting was so much different than when he was producing the low bass notes which can happen especially if you’re not familiar with their faces yet. A very interesting analysis as usual. To my untrained ear they sound phenomenal so it nice to hear someone point out the technicalities. Also interesting Ko Woorim’s (bass singer) range because when he went up you thought he was a different baritone/tenor 😅 The counter tenor (Kang Hyung Ho aka Pitta) is the one with the gritty voice. He does indeed have a crazy voice. You should check out his individual songs sometime as he is also a rocker with his own music.

The first link is a reupload of their JTBC (broadcaster) performance on the show Phantom Singer season 2 where Forestella was formed. I would recommend that performance over the fancam version for the sound quality (especially when they are doing harmonies) aswell as the steadier footage. However this would probably be one of the performances you would have to blur out. It is a great performance and it is very much worth a listen!

Bae Doo-hoon is a Korean musical actor. He has a warm tone and is the eldest brother of Forestella.He studied vocal at Korea National University of Arts. (It's a very hard place to get in, as much as Seoul National University.)

I always love the way you explain things, and though I'm totally tone deaf I find what you say super interesting, so thank you so much for that ♥ Some days ago in TikTok there was a 'fight' because an astonishing number of people was saying Woorim is not a bass, but a baritone (someone even said he was a low tenor) that "forces" his larynx down to get darker sounds (which sounds to me as the chiaroscuro thing you were explaining), and they insist he's not a bass, he only trained as one. Someone already asked this to you in another comment, and I'd also love to have your insight on this, since I'm honestly baffled (he has pretty decent "high" notes, I guess, but they're not as rich and full as his low ones. Though I'm confused because even you have said he's a tenor around 16:16, so I don't even know anymore 🤣). And if you want to react to more of them (in the near future, I hope!) I wholeheartedly recommend their cover of "Hijo de la Luna" (title in spanish, but they sing it in Korean). They all shine there, and I think you'll love that song :) Again, thank you!!

Listen to Woorim's high note battle with Son Tae Jin, Forte di Quattro's bass 🤣 His range is very impressive, but he's definitely a bass. He's great at moving his larynx to get different tones, but he definitely isn't "forcing" it down to get a darker tone. Idk why people would pick this to fight about, he's not a baritone and he's definitely not a tenor.

I think Inner Universe is a stage where you can feel the bass's hypoallergenic and countertenor's hypoallergenic sounds very well, so I recommend it! Please listen to the open concert version! And I think Lazenca saveus is also a very attractive stage with bass's voice!

Kang, Ho-Hyung, covering counter tenor worked at chemical company joining a rock band club as a main vocal and Bae, Do-Hoon, tener range with musical company on stage for several years..
They spend lots of time practicing to overcome to cover broader vocal rage and to improve themselves.

I’d like to give a big shout out to Ko Woo-rim, the dramatic basso perfundo, but in Forestella he just refers to himself as a bass. (I have no idea what that means. I just adore his voice and shy humility, and did a creepy deep dive on him…and the rest of the 3 members.) But let’s put a name to that amazing voice! Also he was a 3rd year opera student when he was auditioning on Phantom 2. He went straight through got his Masters while still singing with the group.
The highest vocalist is Kang Hyung-ho, a self taught marvel. If you haven’t yet, watch his performance from The Phantom of the Opera - CHILLS.
And as to your observation of the crowd screaming at the very hint of a bass, look up the why. Ironically, I did that just last night. It’s a visceral response, hitting both females and males. I know it curls my toes.

Ko Woo Rim is a basso profundo but has a very wide vocal range from C#0 to G#2 near high baritone range. and Kang Hyung Ho also has a range from high baritone of A#2 to C6. One more language used was Swahili.

Is one of the best voices out there today. Her name is Mónica Naranjo. She is Catalan, from Figueres, province of Girona in Catalonia. If you want to hear her sing in her native language you can listen to "Avui vull agrair (Amazing Grace)". It was shot in the church of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona by a Catalan television program called "La Marató de TV3", but but to analyze I would recommend that you analyze "Europe", the voice is live.

forestella is 2 tenors (one a freak of a countertenor and one a leggiero tenor) a baritenor and a bass. the baritenor and the bass kinda split the baritone range.
when it comes to forestella reactions we are used to it being blurred and having text over it. no biggie.
3 languages. the last one was zulu. they are up to 8 different languages so far. 9 if you count pseudo latin. also, they sang one song that had 3 words of german. so 9.5? lol!
