Excellent point about biblical morality, How do we know which parts of the bible to ignore? Find your own meaning and purpose with honesty And accurate knowledge.

I appreciate Phil Zuckerman's work on secular morality.

If we are the only conscious life in the universe - highly unlikely - but if we are then we are the only way the universe can experience itself. WE are the only known method by which the universe is aware of itself. This is philosophically expressed in most modern literature as so like totally awesome dude.

      It's trippy but true.

Kicked out at 16 !! Ouch. Sorry you were stuck spending so much time learning non-tangible skills like theology. Religious upbringings lead many young people to spend time trying to understand doctrinal and spiritual things and determine if they are true - time that could have been spent gaining practical and income-producing skills, along with ethics. So glad you have developed the skills to help others without indoctrinating them with falsehoods.

@29:20 read "Abrahams Daughter" and "Unveiled" where both authors are constantly forced to repress their natural desire to escape a bad environment.

@13:20 nice to hear the Sam Harris concept of a moral framework. @15:05 a restating of Richard Dawkins: we use logic to pick and choose the good vs bad biblical passages.. so just skip the bible and use your logic instead. @21:48 I felt the same way - always disappointed in people. Lowering childhood expectations takes time.
