    22 Elantra N owner here. It's an amazing street car but it's even better on a track. I use mine as a track toy and it's been a pleasure driving it.
    The new facelift looks more mature and forged wheels are an welcome upgrade. I hope Hyundai continue making these!

    2020 Veloster N with the performance package and of course a 6MT. This is my daily driver and I have no issues with the clutch or anything else. She is over 4 years old and I drive her like a spoiled teenager (I am 65 next month). Not even a squeak or clunk. I have installed a few minor mods but off the lot this is the best sorted car I have owned. FYI, my wife's top of the line GV70 does not have wireless Carplay either.

    I have a 24 Elantra N. The MPG on the sticker is a bit off in a way. The car has Standard, Sport, Eco, and N Modes. In the Eco mode i'm getting 29 MPG and up to 42 MPG on long trips. I'm assuming the 23-24 MPG is in standard Mode. They should put the MPG in each mode, cuz i wasn't too thrilled about it 23/24. I only drive in Eco and N modes. The Eco mode still moves really quick and if I need a bit more speed, i just hit the N button on my steering wheel. I had to fly out to Atlanta to get my N. Locally they were selling before they hit the lots as well as just about anywhere else. It was a 600 mile trip and that's how I found out you can get up to 42 MPG.

    My reservation about saying it is a direct comparison to the GTI is that the GTI has wayyyy less hp & torque than the EN. I don't want to get on the octane learning train but I've dynoed my 22 EN under peak boost (19 psi vs 15 psi) and it put down 270 whp! These cars were definitely underrated from the factory and I think it competes a lot more with the Type R/S and GR Corolla than people care to admit.
    Also I think you spoke the truth on seats; car people love them, non car people just don't get it. Lol

    • @closg9309
      @closg9309 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s a competitor due to its similar price vs the GTI I wouldn’t say it has wayyyyyy more HP either. My MK8 dynoed at 241whp and 273wtq when stock.
      GTIs have a much better aftermarket. GTI has wayyyyy better interior and dealer/service network. I’m not a VW fan boy either but i can speak from experience since my previous car (before mk8) was a Genesis G70 3.3t. I sold it because the service at Hyundai dealers (I tried different ones) was TERRIBLE. Valet was non existent for a “luxury” car. I also got bored of the auto in the G70. I went with a 6MT GTI and I’m now at 405whp and 400wtq on 93 pump gas. No silly octane learning required.
      I also test drove the Elantra N and thought the interior was really cheap. Seats were hard and not comfy at all. Brakes were awesome though so I give it to the N with brakes, but that was it. GTI was better in every other way and I knew I was going to mod it so better after market, superior interior, and better dealer/service was high on my list.

      The GTI also has over 40 years of history in the U.S. over 8 generations. We are in the 1st generation of N cars. The N cars focus is less compromise and more performance for your money. If they are this good on their 1st generation, can´t wait to see how the next ones will be.

    As a Kona N driver here in Europe I completely agree with you. I was really looking forward to buying Elantra N but sadly - they never brought it here in Europe. I don`t really understand why - I mean it would have been an excellent direct competitor to the Skoda Octavia RS, which is basically a re-badged GTI in a sedan version. We have plenty of performance sedan options from other European brands, but Hyundai remarkably - never pulled the trigger to bring it here. It was a big mistake IMHO, because we love the i30N and all those guys who bought it and got a family - had to look for a performance sedan elsewhere so Hyundai lost customers. Furthermore - they completely killed off the ICE N cars this February. Another big mistake - never mind how great the Ioniq 5 N is - it is just not something us N car drivers want to pay and drive. I understand the emissions aspect but Cmon @Hyundai EUROPE - other companies still offer "hot" ICE versions - especially VAG group - so what is the problem really? You guys cultivated so much N drivers and now where do we go for an upgrade or a new car? -THe competitors obviously - again A LOT of us are just NOT fans of EV cars - sorry.

      Yeah, I agree about not taking the N seriously, as there are some things like the joke of how some N owners think the car is a "sports car" and also the whole "boyracer" association the N has that you can't take it seriously. Also some of the mods they do to the N (and nline) are just laughable and also the fact that some people think that performance blue is for little boys, is another reason you can't take the N seriously. I know someone who has the nline version of the 24 i30 sedan, that I dub "the fake sports car" and they don't like the performance blue or the exotic green the nline comes in. They have also had young dudes wanting to race the nline from the lights and then there was a guy who touched the car and ran his hand down the side where the "Z" is implemented. Thankfully they found it funny, where others would of not been happy if someone touched their car. Another young dude said to them "nice car" and then said "too bad you've got to be older to be able to afford it". This also what makes the N brand funny and not able to take it seriously

    I'm an 23' owner here and I've had issues with mine. The suspension feels unsorted like something is loose or off. The vehicle seems to cut power under full out acceleration. I need to replace the breaks and rotors at 27K miles now and it has never seen a track. I was told there was cupping on the tires and HMA is refusing to replace anything under warranty, is denying the issues, and basically gaslighting me. The tech that stated on a short drive that they felt the wobbling and saw rotor warping was fired according to someone in the service department I spoke with on the week they had it and did nothing with it. So, I am replacing the parts out of pocket in the hopes that the suspension issues I feel will go away. Additionally, both headlights have a condensation issue and at least one of the rear taillights. The paint is incredibly thin and somehow there was marring early on in ownership that looks like some sort of acid damage. So, the hood will need to be repainted as I've already spent over 1k out of pocket for paint correction and ceramic coating it. This car is a money pit! Hyundai service departments are terrible! This may not change anyone's mind about purchasing the vehicle, but buyer beware!

    I have a vehicle with the NU 2.0L engine & it has 80k miles on it. I've always used Penzoil Platinum or Ultra Platinum & it started burning oil at around 72k miles. On top of that around a month ago it started making a "buzzing" noise when accelerating, specifically while giving it gas but its still at a lower RPM before the downshift. It is gear independent & happens on every gear & only happens for a short period.
    I've got an appointment booked soon for it, I was hoping the car would be extremely reliable, it had everything on paper, port injected, naturally aspirated, Atkinson cycle (so lower compression). Could just be bad luck but the vehicle is now out of the warranty period, if there is any serious issue I'm hoping I'll get a courtesy repair by it. My mechanic told me lots of people with this engine are having problems & I saw Hyundai did a recall for some Elantra models which has piston ring issues but sadly mine isn't included in that recall despite having the same engine.
    This makes me regret buying a Hyundai, I really like their cars but I think I have to go with Toyota or Honda next time, when I buy a car I want it to get me to a million miles. I didn't even drive this car hard, my highway cruise control speed is 112 Km/h which is just under 70 Mph & I've left it in Eco the entire time I've owned it & I'm the original owner. I did everything right & the car is letting me down reliability wise, but I love the vehicle so much otherwise I just want it to not have issues & it sucks that it does.

    2 years ago, I had an allocation order in at my local dealer and waited 7 months and my car never came in. I then tried to get any EN anywhere within 3 states and none would do better than a $4k markup even if i were to come in and buy that day.
    I went and bought a GTI without any markup that day after giving up on Hyundai and their dealers. I then drove my GTI to the Hyundai dealer and got my $500 deposit back.
    While I like my GTI, I still look longingly at the EN, but Hyundai USA needs to do better about dealer network. This after I had bought an Ioniq 3 years ago and it was a bad experience. And then trying to get the EN. I think I am done buying Hyundai cars.

What you get is a performance vehicle with a reasonable amount of power, and handling that allows you to make the best of what you have. I've had many other 4-cylinder turbos in the past some of them five-speed and 80 mph in 5th gear was 2500. There's no reason for a Hyundai to have such a short gear ratio for 6th gear. It's a cruising gear for economy. You can lug 4th and 5th gear from 1509 rpm and it will do the same damage to your engine. Copied from another comment: Yeah, I agree about not taking the N seriously, as there are some things like the joke of how some N owners think the car is a "sports car" and also the whole "boyracer" association the N has that you can't take it seriously.

    I wouldn't take any Hyundai product. Seriously, I wouldn't. My 2022 Sonata NLine with just 21K miles has been in the shop 120 days as of this post due to electronic shifter issue. The Hyundai dealership in Hendersonville TN USA just lets the car sit because they cannot repair / don't know how to repair / or don't give a shit. I opened a case with customer NO-Service and that was a total waste of my time. Even with an attorney on the case Hyundai does not communicate and all I get from the dealer are lies. Crappy product and even worse communication. Buy another Asian brand with shorter warranty that you will never need.

      @MotoManTV sure.
      1) The manual is one of the best today.
      2) I'd driven a CTR and knew this was a pimped out version.
      3) I don't like the looks of the EN at all.
      It helped that I waited a year after the ITS debuted. I managed to get a brand new dealer "show" vehicle that had $8k in options/accessories for MSRP. I had offers from other dealers with bare bone ITS' and they were asking $49.6~. I got to keep the OEM rims/tires and obviously got the bronze rims with the PS4S too.
      4 year loan @ 6.19% but I'll have it paid off by end of year two (no prepayment penalty). I was interested in a new CT4BW prior, but they're starting to list them (with a manual) for more like $70k pre tax tags etc.

    I concur,. After 70,000km of around town (Downtown Toronto), my 2023 6MT EN is as easy to drive as my old Civic. Still drives like new, but got new manual transmission at 60K because of minor leak through the seal (no cost). I suspect it's because I took delivery in worst winter storms in a decades and it was constantly dragging through snow well above the ground clearance.
