    harley did a lot of flow work on their heads, and they came up with. by polishing the head ,the gas molecules stick to the surface, by bead blasting, to a semi rough surface, the gas molecules would tumble and get more gas to the cylinder

      I suppose it all depends on the RPM and other variables but I've always heard the same thing. Good to know you had Harely Data to back it up. Thanks you so much for commenting

    ezgz I want to say thank you for all your videos. I have been waiting 30 years to just start to enjoy our favorite little car. I have loved these cars since I was 12 now 43. Never had time or resources to fix every piece on our beetles. Im disabled and have 6 herniated disks and now on social security. Thanks to yourself and TH-cam I am not intimidated anymore to not only work on vws but also start making videos. I seen you tear up a little in the video. I am experiencing the same thing as we speak. Great people like yourself and Darrin lives about 2 hours away from me. Thanks for all the videos. Im wanting to learn and give back to others just like you have. like a pay it forward. thank you again, John

    I love that you're a Berg fan... I'm working on my 90% Berg engine right now and watching videos to refresh my memory because the bug has been setting for 17 years... gonna make it my daily driver again. Thanks for your help. edit Wow! when I first commented I didn't know you were gonna break out the valve boss cutter that I need to get to install my Berg dual springs in new heads... you made my day/month! I feel much more comfortable buying and using the tool now. The part is the GB 706 valve guide boss cutter.

    Hi EZGZ, Great tips! I know I'm a little late here. I like learning tricks from some body that's been doing it for a while. 1 tip for you, when changing a valve spring when the head is on the engine and you don't have any compressed air put the piston close to TDC on that cylinder then take about a 2 foot long piece of rope and put it in the spark plug hole as much as you can, make sure you leave enough rope outside the cylinder to pull the rope back out, then turn the engine by hand til it stops witch shouldn't be very much. That will tighten the rope against the valve so it won't drop when you take off the spring.

    I bolt the manifold to the head before the head is assembled and before it is installed on the engine so I can get an exact match to the port then scribe the shape to the manifold.

      I am humbled by your comment sir. Here is my advice. Don't waste your time and money trying to fix those old heads. These heads are only $134ea I put them on my 2 liter and they work just fine. Eat ramen noodles for a month. Your engine will thank you carcraftstore.com/cylinderheads-stocktowild.aspx

    I keep hearing sedan and its bugging the hell out of me. a sedan has 4 doors, a bug has 2, there for its a coupe lol

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Websters dictionary defines a sedan as a enclosed automobile seating 4 to 7 persons including the driver and having a single compartment, 2 or 4 doors, and a permanent top. Therefore I am correct.

    So I still have not found my project bug yet but want to start somewhere so the motor will have to do. I've been looking at cases and have some questions since the price of a case compaired to a super case is a couple of hundred dollars. I'm kind of shooting for zero to 100 in a hurry just fridays night burgers at in n out. Thinking .94 with a turbo what if any machining on a super case am I looking at. There will be no freeway drives everything I need or want is nice and close which should be fun for a lil rusty sleeper.

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Knowing what I know now. I would buy a CB performance engine kit. Tell them you want to add the Turbo later. The same 112 degree lobe center cam will work just fine without the turbo. Friend of mine did it. Pat Downs will advise you. Work around your budget but start with a good foundation. I used on of the aluminum super cases for my 2 liter and love it. It will take the abuse. www.cbperformance.com/Builder-s-Choice-Engine-Kits-s/116.htm You will still need the engine tin and all that but when you find a car you can probably use the stuff of that. Sounds like a fun dream and very possible. If you go this route and save the receipts at least there might be a chance to recover some of it if you change your mind or something happens. I'm getting excited just hearing about it.

    Hi EZGZ thanks for the videos. When installing the heads do I really need the copper head gaskets? I was taking with a tech guy at the parts store. He mentioned that I didn't need the gasket if my heads and jugs are stock. What are your thoughts?

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jason Fay All depends on what compression you want to end up with. A stock engine you are pretty safe without any and run good gas. I lowered the compression on all my engines and they run just fine and I can 't tell the difference in the seat of the pants meter. Adding the shimms will throw off your rocker arm geometry just a bit. Do what feels good to you and watch it. Thats how we all learned.

  • @sharpie0051

    Can someone please help me to se hao to install a set of bolt on valve cover in a vw bug

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stanly Sharp There is only a spring clip to hold on the valve covers. If you mean the rocker shaft stud you can sometimes thread on 2 nuts and use 2 wrenches to twist them into each other and unscrew the stud. If it is destroyed you can use vise grips. You will need tools and replacement parts.
